What did you think of The One Show? Guest: Nigel Havers

The One Show Team | 15:09 UK time, Wednesday, 16 September 2009

Adrian and Christine in the studio with Nigel Havers

Adrian and Christine were joined in the studio by the charming Nigel Havers.

It's been six months since Claudia Lawrence, a 35-year-old chef from York, went missing.  Lucy Siegle met some of her family - and the detectives investigating.

Dom Littlewood met a couple of airline passengers who've paid hundreds of pounds to correct an innocent booking mistake.

At Stonehenge, astronomer Mark Thompson gave a guided tour of the night sky to One Show viewers.

And it's day three of spider week. Miranda Krestovnikoff visited Dorset to meet a rare ladybird spider.

I had a problem checking in for a flight once in the olden days of written tickets as the person who had written the ticket had written a very open K which the check in desk clerk read as an I C & I had real difficulty in getting her to beleive that the ticket was mine. Luckily my husband's ticket was written clearer & she then accepted I was the person named on the ticket. Lesson learnt... check all the details straight away!!!!

I'm not "Nigel", but I AM a "Douglas" - another name that has disappeared without trace over the years. Why doesn't The One Show start a campaign to get newborn children (boys, obviously) named "Douglas", "Nigel" "Kenneth" etc, instead of trendy names like "Kyle", "Brody", "Kane" etc...?

Ps. Nigel, Give a wave to my wife Rose?

I loved your show with Nigel Havers my name is Ann Mary Havers Ashby because I am a distant relative of his and I have a son called Nigel. My father was a first cousin to Nigel's father and they fought in world war 11 together - he is very charming and I am proud to be related to him.
Sadly I have never had the pleeasure of meeting him but I do enjoy seeing him in all his programs on TV

Having watched the first half of the new Channel 5 show and then the One Show one wonders why C5 bothered. The One Show is so easy to watch, the C5 show is achingly poor. Why on earth they picked that motley crew is beyond me and Ian Wright's attempt at English, given that he has been in the media for some time now, is appalling. Bring back Spangles!

They'll have more success if they turn it into a toothpaste ad.

The One show will still be on air when that rubbish on C5 is long gone.

Oops, somehow my part completed blog was sent before finished. Please ignore it. Thanks.

It is NOT treason to post an envelope etc in the UK with the stamp upside down. The Treason Acts date back to the 1300s and have seen many repeals and improvements since, but there is nothing about stamps or anything else so trivial. Treason is a serious offence and is defined by the current, applicable Acts. The stamp 'thing' is an urban myth and you should not frighten old ladies or those prone to error (like me) by promoting such. Please correct this as people keep ringing me for an opinion claiming it must be true 'cos it was stated on The OneShow. Keep entertaining though.
