Lorraine Kelly

Lorraine Kelly joined Christine and Adrian in the studio.

A male professor at Nottingham University has claimed that pain during childbirth is a "useful thing". How useful was the pain for you? Let us know here.

Steve Hewlett, presenter of Radio 4's The Media Show, asked whether the tabloids are the ones to blame after the recent phone hacking scandal.

Scotland suffers some of the highest numbers of drug-related deaths in Europe. Anita Rani looked at the new drug rehabilition programs being put in place.

Aubrey Manning visited St Michael's Mount in Cornwall to see how climate change will affect our coastlines.

And to debunk the myths surrounding the microwave, Michael Mosley teamed up with Professor Barham from Bristol University.

Why is everything blamed on climate change when it's just evolution?
Aubrey Manning contradicted himself saying Britain 'tilted' to either lift Scotland or sink Cornwall over thousands of years naturally then blamed climate change!!

Liked the microwave item - good to see the CMB (cosmic microwave background) getting a mention on prime-time telly. And always amusing to see people's lack of knowledge when it comes to basic physics.

But oh dear folks - you do really enjoy showing your ignorance. We see a clip of the great William Woollard on an old edition of Tomorrow's World, and what do we get? He looks like Michael Crawford. Yeah, he does, doesn't he... in a 'no idea who he is' manner. And Adrian and Christine - both of you being TV presenters.

Can someone advise Lorraine Kelly to swot up a bit on her Scottish History. I think that it was her voice that interjected the comment that she did not think that Alexander Fleming was Scots but she would claim him anyway. For her edification Alexander Fleming was born near Darvel in Ayrshire.

I enjoyed the science topic. Although, I believe the scientists said that long wave radiation cannot give anyone cancer. Personally, I think there is a chance. My perception of cancer is of a cell damaged in a particular way, but is still yet able to replicate itself. I believe either the long wave radiation or the body's process of eliminating damaged cells could cause a cancerous growth. I accept I may be wrong, but if it took something special to joggle the DNA structure to cause the big C; then why is smoking linked with cancer? Perhaps, I am just an ape on this topic.

I really enjoy the show, but get the facts right! I refer to Micheal Mosley and Professor Barnham and microwaves.Radio frequencies have wave lengths. Short Wave signals at 27Mhz (27 million hertz a second) have wave lengths around 11 meters.Signals at higher frequencies have shorter wave lengths. i.e. 800Mhz ( UHF TV transmissions) have considerably shorter wave lenghths. Go outside and look at the elements of your TV aerial. They are about the length that Professor Barnham suggests that micro waves are. ( proved by cooking sweets in his mwo without a turntable). The reason that happened is simple. Micro wave ovens have dead spots.. the microwaves do not penetrate the whole of the oven cavity. This is why manufacturers fit turntables, and/or reflecting fans, to deflect the waves or turn the food. He was correct in stating that the micro waves cannot escape because of the 'mesh' in the door. That mesh is set at a certain size! It's the same as the wave length of the microwave frequency ( 2.4 Ghz or 2.4 thousand million hertz ) As frequencies go higher, their wave length becomes shorter. The mesh is actually an electrical choke.

However Carol Thatcher was sacked from the prog for making a remark in a private conversation-was this the BBC getting back at Carol's mum or is Jo Brand the key- a person who can "do no wrong " in the BBC eyes. I am feeling a little negative about the BBC today, as on a week-end where we lost 8 soldiers in Afghanistan due to lack of proper equipment, Top Gear showed an amusing article about armoured cars!!most of this beggars belief

Tonight the One Show as usual scratched the surface
Of a variety of topics deserving much more in depth treatment

With limited time (It needs much more)
It hurriedly attempted to tackle the thorny issue of pain
Which gave much food for thought
    Has it any benefit?
    Are epidurals overused?
The subject was left hanging in the air
    And we were left bemused
    Worse than that, confused

Next question - where should we place the blame
In the recent phone tapping scandal sin
The tabloids, which we hypocritically love to read for their own scandal within?
(Yet the press with which we are now decidedly unim-press-ed)
Or if not on whose doorstep do we lay it?

    Next, drug related deaths
Scotland has more than anyone else
    Rehabilitation programmes in place
    Hopes for success

Then the big One climate change
The One that affects us all
Already causing the sea level to rise
And soon to submerge part of Cornwall

    Next up, microwaves
Which were once supposed to send us down to early graves
If we got too close to these our ovens
    Too often
    Now we understand
    Are wrongly named
As their waves arent micro and harmful at all
But are decidedly macro in comparison and therefore harmless
They also dont heat our food from inside
(You know you live and learn
If you watch the One Show)

O I nearly forgot tonights personality
Off the same block at Christine
    Equally giggly Lorraine Kelly
    Off the telly
    Nuff said bout her already
No one else but herself to blame
After all, celebs are fair game

    However, Adrian amused me
    As he does occasionally
    This time being very PC
    Correcting himself about
    Someone he called a postman!
(Yes a post-person it now should be)

    P.S. hardluck Hardeep
    Your admitted over-familiarity
With a female member of staff there
We read has sadly put you in the same class as Carol Thatcher
And her earlier green-room faux pas
No longer, or at least for the next six months
    Will our C and A
    Have to struggle to say
    Hardeep Singh Kohli
To us bloggers as you will see
    Better known as HSK

There are those among us who will never be able to see that there is in fact a problem with this show and its staff, both production and presenters. I have on several occasions, both in the work place and outside of it, been the subject of sexual banter, and unwanted approaches, I have never felt the need to invoke the help of anyone else to deal with this. It appears to me, and I state this is my opinion, not that of some newespaper, that the members of this team have too much spare time, most of which seems to be spent fossicking around for a loose insult that no-one else is using. geordieangel2 & jadedoldie, I worked alongside women for most of my working life. In my experience each and everyone of them was quite capable of taking care of herself without recourse to outside help.

For my part, as a male, I waited in hot anticipation to experience some sexual harassment from female colleagues who were keen to force their attentions upon me. Sadly, I was disappointed. However, one did surreptitiously pinch my bottom and I was her boss at the time.

A friend of mine once wrote an adverse annual appraisal for one of his female staff. He recorded that he considered her lacking in ambition. She was furious and told him so. However, she soon sorted him out. She married him. Poor Alan, he has been apologising to Karen ever since.
