Good to see about Hearing Dogs. We are raising money for this charity with a John O Groats to Lands Steam-powered Car Run, in August.
For more details look on http://www.steamtractionworld.co.uk or via the Just Giving section to donate. 100% goes to Hearing Dogs.
Any chance of a One Show mention?

      Hi all,
Just would like to mention something about Dick Turpin. He was not hanged as the programme suggested but in fact climbed up the scaffolding of the gallows to talk to the crowd and then threw himself off killing himself and cheating the hangman.

      Cheers
      Paul

With reference to the moon landing conspiracy theory, besides watching the event on tv at the time, I have read several books and have watched tv shows giving both sides of the discussion. From all this I conclude that those who still cling to the conspiracy theory are just too stubborn to accept the evidence. There are scientific answers to every one of the questions raised by the conspiracy theorists, such as light direction and similarity of the terrain. The fact that a fake mission was portrayed in the film Capricorn One (a good film by the way) has nothing whatever to do with whether or not it was necessary to fake a moon landing. The hardest part was to escape from Earth's gravity. After that it was just a case of navigational calculations and reliability of the components. Apollo 10 did everything except land, and showed that, although certainly difficult, the Apollo 11 mission was not so scary that NASA would have felt any need to fake it. To cling to the unscientific opinions about light sources and similar trivia is rather like saying that the moon cannot really go round the earth because that would require a piece of string to keep it in orbit.

I agree that it's a waste of time give space to conspiracy theorists. It's a pity you didn't do more research - the Apollo astronauts set up mirrors on the moon that have been used by scientists around the world ever since. This link will tell you more:

I was very interested in the item about puns. However, I did not get the name of the stand-up comic who arthur Smith spoke to. I very much like his style. Can you give me his name? Thanks.

During our summer (the last week of June) I watched the hundreds of flying ants leaving their nests between the paving slabs of my patio. This is regularly under water when it rains so why don't they drown?
