What did you think of the show? Guest: Michael McIntyre
Adrian and Christine were joined in the studio by funny man Michael McIntyre.
Dom Littlewood paid a visit to Downing Street, Preston, to ask the residents what they think the future holds for PM Gordon Brown.
Anita Rani was in Newcastle and Burnley to look at how a football club's success and failure can affect the local economy.
Dan Snow talked about the history of the relationship between the British and French.
Angelica Bell visited Hayling Island in Hampshire - the birthplace of windsurfing.
And finally, Dr Sarah Jarvis examined the science behind embarrassment. Share your embarrassing story here.

The guy isn't the slightest bit funny.
It was saying in the Metro (newspaper) that the One Show was very poor of late. With guests like this, is it any surprise?

I couldn't help but notice there was one contributor to tonight's show who is not credited above. From Wikipedia:
"Trevor Kavanagh (born 19 January 1943) is a right-wing journalist and formerly the political editor of the Sun newspaper. He is a staunch Thatcherite."
I thought The One Show was an apolitical TV programme. Mr Kavanagh was allowed to present himself as an impartial commentator, which he clearly isn't. The One Show should either get someone truly impartial or be clear where this man's sympathies lie.
I'd appreciate a response to this, please.

dasteeluk is right.
Michael McIntyre is an utter talent vacuum whose half laughy thing that he does with his voice makes me want to kick my TV in.
There, that's better...

I dare say that your story on "Anglo-French" relations through the centuries stacks up.
However, and your history expert should know this and should have pointed it out, the history of "Scottish-French" relations is completely different.
Please remember that you're broadcasting to all of the nations of the UK - not just the southernmost.

Please please please could you stop plastering your male guests in too much make up - their faces appear as a complete blank because they have such a thick coating of foundation. Michael McIntyre looked hideous even his eyebrows were beige! Adrian's make up is also too heavy on occasion surely for a man it should be fairly delicate.
Thanks

Richard,,,blog 2..
who is really impartial ?
if the one show has a labour supporter the tories are up in arms saying leftie bbc...if they have a tory minded induividual the opposite is in evidence.
does a list of really impartial people exist, and if they are so impartial who do they vote for ?
i too dislike Michael McIntyre ,he seems to really love himself and his posh boris johnson type laughing blustery delivery does nothing for me.
he is the typical one show guest-he has a bbc prog to plug.
i thought tonight we were going to see a london/south coast free one show.
no chance.
i am not surprised the metro has been poor of late, that is one of the reasons i have stopped watching.

On a note completely unrelated to any of the above - just how foxy did Christine look in that purple dress?
Anyway as for Kavanagh the point isn't that he was on, but that there wasn't someone to give a balancing viewpoint. That said there probably aren't many people around who could give Brown's chances a good spin.

I found the information about embrassesment very interesting, it does seem like a bit of a bizar function we have developed. I was very interested in the girl who blushed easily since I have very much the same proble, I was wondering if anyone had any more information about this?
Complain about this comment
hokeycokeyalex post 6, true enough, every one has an opinion of some sort, therefore how can anyone be impartial, on the subject of blushing, go to houses of parliament, plenty of red faces there.

Hi hokeycokeyalex, good to hear you, I was quite concerned not to have you onboard for a while, especially given your recent hospitalization.

Just reading the intro at the top of page, sorry to be obtuse, but which of this evenings contributors was the advertised funny man?

Michael McIntyre is a great comic and he was great fun to have on the show! The film about embarrassment was very interesting and when Adrian and Christine swapped sides off the sofa it REALLY confused me!
Keep up the good work guys, your doing a fantastic job. xx

Hi jadedoldie, and hokeycokeyalex, hope you are both well tonight. The show did manage to get up North tonight, if only to rub salt into the wounds of Newcastle United footie fans, maybe some day the show will let you see our lovely countryside, and beaches.

Re blogs 6 & 9, finding a truly impartial contributor would be nigh on impossible. The best we can hope for is balance.

I think the one show is great, most of the people who blog on here complain, week after week there are negative comments, why do they bother watching?

Re my 18: I have misdirected my comment at myself for a reason known only to my slowly functioning brain this morning. It was of course meant for -
TheBinster at 17. "When you become ruler of the world will you ban negative comments because they irritate you?"
TheBinster at #17,
Are you saying that any negative comment about The One Show is unjustified, if so why?
In your opinion The One Show is great. Then why not explain to us why it is great?
Tell us all the good things about the show. Tell us what you like about the show. Endeavour to change the mind of its critics. Start with me if you like. Do you not think that course of action would make more sense and serve The One Show better?

Hi,
As a Sunderland man i have no particular axe to grind on this but it does annoy me that Gateshead MBC does not get the credit it deserves.
The Sage Music Centre and the Baltic Art Gallery are in Gateshead NOT Newcastle upon Tyne. The Millenium Bridge (the winking bridge) was also a Gateshead project although of necessity one side is attached to Newcastle. You showed all of these as iconic Newcastle. The cameras were placed on the Newcastle side at the Millenium Bridge pointing at the Gateshead side of the River Tyne.
I know Gateshead cooperates with Newcastle in all sorts of ways but they appear to get little thanks or credit.
Gateshead also gave us the "Angel of the North" and this is often also portrayed as being in Newcastle.
Why don't you send someone back up North to redress the balance and perhaps apologise to forward thinking Gateshead.

14 - I agree - Malcolm is great and so is the show
17 - I agree - the negative comments of some contributors annoy me too. There are some really valid points made, particularly when there are inaccuracies, but the general negativity of others about everything is tedious.

amazingoldMackem post 21, you are right in what you say, and credit should be given where it's due, but it's the media, and probably Newcastle City counselors to blame, not your average Geordie, the angel has been labeled The Angel of the North, and I think thats about right. Good luck to your football team who have managed to stay in the premiership, we all have hopes for next season.

Tedious for who?

geordieangel2 (post 24) Thanks for the support. It hadn't occurred to me that this was Newcastle's fault - just the media in general and in this case the One Show taking the eaasy (lazy?) option. The Quayside area is photogenic and i do like to visit there myself .So it is perhaps understandable.
I ,like you, was sweating on the outcome of those Sunday matches. While i took no pleasure in the fate of Newcastle and Middlesborough , i was well pleased it wasn't us. Poor Adrian was put out of his misery earlier on - even though we did our best to give him hope with our performance at WBA two or three weeks before.
Good Luck to your lads for next season -you know that i know what it's like to be relegated. Ourlads have unfortunately had more experience at it than yours.

mycatcalledgingy post 30, P.S. not your computer, I can't get Fridays either, strange!
Complain about this comment
Hello, mycatcalledgingy and geordieangel2 - I've been told that Friday's show is not on iPlayer because there was footage of a football match shown on the programme - rights issues mean that that One Show is then not shown on iPlayer. Best wishes, and thanks for visiting the website.

Post33, puzzled old me, can't understand how it can be shown on the programme, but not on the iPlayer rerun! Am I missing something simple here?

Thats rather silly Host Ryan could they not simply exclude that part of the show and then post it on iplayer for those who missed the show?

Post 37, there seem to be a set of rules that can be adapted to dictate exactly what the user wants, and we are never going to overcome the insistence that it's not the fault of the person applying the rule, it's always "THEM". In fact a big boy did it and ran away, lol.

To JohnHolyer(than though),
I cannot see me becoming ruler of the world, so your question is not worth answering.
My question was if you abhor The One Show so much, why watch it?
p.s. you are also condescending

Unfortunately, I missed last Fridays One Show (5th June) and for some reason it is not showing as being available on the BBC iplayer site?
But, I have just read through the comments, that as some football footage was shown, with the broadcasting rights not extending to iplayer, the "whole" show is not being aired via iplayer.
This was the one that included coverage on Windsurfing at Hayling Island.......which I did especially want to see as Windsurfing gets so very little coverage on TV.
Would it not be possible to put up the show on iplayer excluding the "football" section for those people who wanted to see the programme or could the windsurfing story be put up separately please?
Thanks

Mike Dilger claimed Archaeopteryx was a fake but he instead showed a picture of Archaeoraptor which is the fake. Archaeopteryx certainly isn't a fake!

Another windsurfer here interested in seeing last Fridays show.
Are you going to be able to put this on iplayer at all? Would be appreciated by many - a lot of shops/forums/training schools sent out notification on the program to promote the feature/program so it's a bit dissapointing not being able to see it.
