What did you think of The One Show? Guest: Ray Davies
Christine and Adrian were joined in the studio by rock legend, Ray Davies from the Kinks.
Des Coleman met with Ray to find out the inspiration behind his greatest hit, Waterloo Sunset.
Since we caught up with quadraplegic sailor Hilary Lister before she set off on her solo trip round the British Isles, many One Show viewers have been asking how she's getting on. For the latest information on Hilary click here.
While the high streets are suffering in the recession, pawnbrokers are having something of a resurgence, Lucy Siegle investigated why.
One Show viewers Kerry and Paul contacted the website to tell us about their problems with a package holiday. Dom Littlewood looked into how booking holiday excursions separately could leave you less protected than you think.
If you have a consumer problem that you need Dom's help with head to our Get Involved page.
And concluding our Curious Complaints week Dr Sarah Jarvis visited Blackpool to meet Pat, a lady who suffers from belly button odour. Watch all the Curious Complaints films here.
Have a lovely sunny weekend!

The Tremeloes were actually from Dagenham not Birmingham, as Ray wrongly commented.

Tremeloes didn't come from Birmingham! Dave the drummer from the Tremeloes used to drink with me in Dartford, Kent!!! (Mick Jagger country!) Ali xxx

I thought it was Procul Harum
His best-crafted composition was "Waterloo Sunset", from the Kinks' most consistent album, Something Else. The album barely made the Top 40, but the single Waterloo Sunset only missed the top because of Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade Of Pale".

Funnily enough on the bus home from work today with my ipod on shuffle 'Waterloo Sunset' popped on. Suddenly all was right with the world.
BTW, 'Please, Release Me' did prevent a great single from gaining the number 1 spot, but it wasn't Waterloo Sunset. It was the Beatles double-A side of 'Penny Lane/ Strawberry Fields Forever' that Englebert Humperdink forced into second.

I used to enjoy The One Show but I think it is becoming a bit cheap and sensational. Having to watch people's personal hygiene or odour problems is tasteless and frankly disgusting.
There is a forum for people to share difficult even embarrasing health issues but this week the bad breath and belly buttons reminded me of the sort of Victorian freak show that we all find distateful. Whist the sufferers were genuine I felt that there was too much voyeursim involved.
I spend my career trying to put back a little elegance and dignity into the communication skills of the young. I am disappointed the BBC can sack Carol Thatcher, a gentle lady yet broadcast this revolting spectacle. Poor Christine is too nice for this I hope it doesn't damage her career.

Couldn't believe it when you did the article about the belly button. I've had a problem for years and thought it was just me cos no one ever talks about it. Thanks so much for highlighting this. My problem only seems to occur when I wear jeans and I thought it was due to the metal in the fastening. I will try the aqueous cream and hope for the best.
Well done again for helping me feel that I'm not alone

Re: Post 16...
jadedoldie, the song you are loking for is called Shangri-La, from the 1969 Kinks album called Arthur-Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire. Theres a wonderful new version of it available on Rays new Choral Collection album as well!

It's always good to see Ray Davies:) You guys in the UK are very lucky. I live far from Englad and I had to wait for a while to be able to watch the show. And I enjoyed it. And though I know the story of Waterloo Sunset very well, I'm always happy to hear it again. Especially when Ray Davies speaks about it:)

Hurrah for Ray Davies! For me The Kinks and The Who were more important than The Beatles and The Stones.
I am pleased to see him using The Crouch End Festival Chorus. They have also been called upon by Oasis and Ennio Morricone.
