Watch Christine's performance!

On Wednesday 22nd April inspired by the Britain's Got Talent singing sensation Susan Boyle, Adrian and Christine took part in a singing challenge.

They were given only a few days to rehearse and tutored by conductor Ivor Setterfield.

You, the viewers were asked to vote on which of them should sing live at the end of the show. They were accompanied by the the Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra and the Members of the New London Singers and Barts Choir, and sang Time to Say Goodbye.

We received over 12,500 votes and the result was extremely close. 

However the  votes for Christine were just a fraction higher than for Adrian and she was chosen to sing live.

So how did she do?

Was she a natural or did she struggle to hold a tune?

Who were you voting for and why?

    I have just spent the best hour of television on the BBC. My hero Sir Michael Caine was just the icing on the cake. at times when television is dishing out substandard dross, repeats and cut price crap, the one show is a breath of fresh air. The programe should be extended to a hour long and shown at prime time. No show I have ever seen of this quality has been so succesful at covering so many different subjects. Christine your singing was fantastic but not quite as good as Susan Boyle. Keep up the great work together you make a great team

    As a sometime singer myself, one who had a little training, I know that after a few lessons I found pleasure in being able to sing for others. You have a real vocal talent (go on, check the comments of your conductor on the VT) and I think you should take singing lessons and add another thrill to your life, from giving the joy of your voice to others. Is there anything you cannot master? Go for it!

    Been watching The One Show for a long time (not every night) but I believe it's well established as one of the best current affairs, tv chat shows around. Keep up the good work both of you.

    I had only heard the song played as a piece of music. We have several buskers in our local shopping square. Two regulars of which one is a gentleman using an electronic violin and the other is a group of Sth American Sand-pipers; both sound great and play this tune as part of their repetiore and also trying to sell their CDs of their style music.

    When I asked the sandpipers the name of the music they replied "Con Te Partiro"; their english was not so very good. However when the violinist played it weeks later I asked him for the title he replied "Time to say goodbye". From then on my research found that it was recorded by Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli and reached the charts back in May 1997. Sadly it only reached the 2nd spot but to me it is a number one song.

    As I previously mentioned the song has a lilting melody which can be contageous. I have been humming it all week since Christine sang it. Not that I am complaining of course it is a number one song. It is an excellent song that is having another airing. I am curious, though, as to who wrote it and where it came from ? It somehow has the style of an Andrew Lloyd Webber song that perhaps has been used in one of his musicals shows. But if that is so which one? It would be interesting to find out.

    So again Christine Congratulations and also for singing it in the (foreign) language for which it may have been written. Well done !!!
