Arrgh! Chiles AND Lineker together - I expect some discussion about that childish obsession - football. But I live in hope... at least no actor bores on the one-hour show tonight. Looking forward to it as always...

Having just watched your clip on the deserted viallage and the sacrifice that people made in WW2 I am sure that I heard Gary Linaker say - I can't imagine sacrifices being made in this day and age - am I right - has he not heard of Iraq and Afganisatn - our service personnel are making massive sacrifices every day - some of them resulting in the giving of their lives - come on - seriously give this country some credit linaker and try watching the news before engaging mouth.

An excellent show with something for everybody BUT... please don't assume that everyone has access to the web site and emails Dom. You actully told pople not to bother withpen and paper for an address about laser treatment. Can't wait to view the M&W sketc so I'll have to senaky peep at the outtakes.

I can't believe the statement casually thrown out that children being violent to other children often have learning difficulties. This continues the predujice in society that young people with learning difficulties are somehow inherently dangerous to others. Statements such as this are obviously given without thought to accuracy or consequence.
This should be rectified in a future programme asap.
I usually enjoy the One Show but this sort of prejudiced comment stated as fact infuriates me.

With reference to Anita's report child bullying and worse, has anyone looked at the storylines of such programming of Eastenders for example? TV is obsessed with negativity and violence, is it any wonder that society in the UK is such a concern now.

It was so sad to see the fate of Tyneham - with villagers forced to leave and never return. You would imagine that this could not happen in peace time. Spare a thought for the people living in the village of Sipson, which the government currently plans to destroy and bury under concrete. This is not to support a war but to make profits for a Spanish company (BAA) that thinks it can make a profit from another runway at Heathrow. This is a sacrifice that will not benefit the country and the villagers intend to fight the government to stay in their homes.

As parents of a daughter with severe learning difficulties (used to be known as mental handicap), we take great exception to the comment madeabout child murderers having learning difficulties. Perhaps she should visit a special needs school or contact Mencap for an explanation of the term as used in this country.

When the "old schools" thing was mentioned I thought "I hope they do Janet Street Porter" as I too went to Lady Margaret..... what a trip down memory lane. It was grammar when I was there & I too owe where I am now to LMG. (grew up on rough council estate in London, got a Pharmacy degree & manage a shop in Bournemouth)
My 1st report wasn't too good so I set out to prove my 1st year biology teacher wrong & it worked! Thanks Mrs Jenks.

A good show, overall, with little football. Wasn't familiar with Lineker's fiancee, but she looked incredibly uncomfortable every time she was asked anything. Hardeep was in fine form, as always, and the JSP school item was excellent - can't wait for further editions. One citicism, though, is that the glaring error in last night's show regarding the Home Responsibilities Protection Scheme (pointed out by the viewers) during the NI item by Dom was not mentioned - not really good enough, BBC.

Garry's girlfriend looked uncomfortable because she was asked if she had her sight improved before or after she met Garry, also did she know he was a football legend when she first met him, I think she was worried she might say the wrong thing.

As someone thinking of having laser eye surgery I was very interested in Dom's investigation. Is it possible to publish the 54 recognised surgeons who hold the certificate of competence for laser eye surgery? Have researched and cannot find the information.

You can't go wrong when you have star guests! Where's the blog for THE ONE SHOW? Conservative bashing. I remember some rude comments pointed at David Cameron and P.O.S.H people. Why does it need to be mentioned he went to Eton? What, along with many other great politicians? Enjoyed the item on the bus enthusiasts and the preserved bus and thought John did try hard to join in with the enthusiasm. But I thought that editorially these people were made out to be "anoraks" and that's not quite right. They are actually preserving a bit of social history, a way of life that has changed and in some cases has been lost altogether. If someone had re-constructed a Greek vase, you'd say "That's amazing!", not be dismissive of it as being not of general interest, so why not a preserved bus that has taken up hours of work and bundles of cash?
