I notice yet again the One Show using weak excuse for an item - basically a supposedly unattractive woman has a great voice so therefore we can get the presenters to sing a song ? Pathetic - why not celebrate it and not try to demean her ? I accept the presenters crawl to each guest - how about showing others respect. Adrian used to be a good TV presenter - oh dear, how the great have fallen.

If I were Michael I would have walked off near the beginning when Adrian cut him off mid-sentence and talked about something completely different. He's a crap interviewer he really is. Never looks as though he's listening more looking at his watch or the camera. Bout time he went!

When Adrian asks a guest a question he is talking to the camera, can he not look at them after he utters the first word.
Such distingished guests treated like this is shocking, thank goodness Christine has manners.

Everyone in my household is admiring Christine's dress. It really suits her. She looks gorgeous. She also sounds as if she could develop a lovely voice. Poor Adrian. He unfortunately does not.

adrian didnt insult michael caine.
if he creeps to guests he is the subject of critical comment,when he jokes with them he is a said to show no respect.

Amazing, Sir Michael Caine said that when he first heard of the death of Kennedy he was listening to Radio Luxembourg. A great many years ago now, but so was I listening to Radio Luxembourg (208 metres Medium Wave!)when I first heard that news, on my transistor radio whilst working in a photographic darkroom that I had. I can still remember it so vividly, they suddenly started playing solumn music.

Michael Caine is the BEST guest ever on the one show, what an all round intelligent,genuine, warm and funny man What a treat to see him interact with every aspect of the show.Not just sit back while others are being interviewed, as some do. but take a real part in the show. Lovely lovely man.

I was thoroughly disgusted at the attitude of both the presenters and guests of tonight’s programme towards what was supposed to be a serious article regarding equity release schemes and the warnings that were provided by a specialist presentation. The couple affected clearly were very worried and expected this to be a serious discussion.
The two main presenters and Michael Cain denigrated and devalued the message and appeared to ridicule the elderly couple interviewed as well as the subject matter. . It gave the impression this subject was included to give them the opportunity for humour at someone else’s expense.
I don’t suppose either Cain, Bleakley or Chiles will ever have to worry about such issues…………

hello highland fling,,,no not another moan.if you read my blogs i have a mixture of compliments and critical comment-we do not all see everything with rose tinted glasses.
i am a man who likes to look at attractive ladies,,,but she cannot sit comfortable because her dress is so tight and so short and as such grips the sofa with both cheeks clenched and both knees glued together.
is the idea of this blog to only say nice things?...i think not

yes it was a lovely short dress - for a night out with the girls,,,,right for sitting on a sofa and presenting in comfort,,,eh no.

After a good run of some excellent shows, I supppose it had to end some time. MC was as poor as he always is. I don't understand the adulation as per most of the above comments. He's only an actor. Comment 22 - at least there's one dissenting voice. The singing thing was also very poor - how can anyone possibly say that Christine has a great voice after that.

Quite right, Michael Caine is "only an actor". Michael Joseph Micklewhite would probably agree with you. But, you see Michael Caine is the best film actor there has ever been.

I was very disappointed at the one-sided report on equity release. The reporter rightly mentioned the compound interest but failed to mention that in every year from 2001 until 2007 house prices will have risen at a rate exceeding and offsetting the effect of compound interest. Also why have the couple waited 8 years to repay. The show must provide more balanced reports, why was a member of SHIP not asked to respond or someone from ERSA - the Equity Release Solicitors Alliance. The show should not be simply repeating out-dated one-sided views, we want an all-round report. Equity release is now a recognised product and closely regulated, last year 1000's of peope took out equity release.

Dear One Show team, as always a thoroughly entertaining show. Having been married for 14 years to singer Joanne Brown, a regular guest star on the Friday Night is Music Night show, and having myself had songs recorded by Nina and Frederik and The Black and White Minstrels, I do understand something about singers and songs. It is ludicrous to expect beautiful Christine, who has never had a singing lesson in her life, to be expected to perform such a famous song as Vienne. Nor is the operatic vocalise of the renowned soprano, Lesley Garrett, endeavouring to show Christine, the art of singing in one lesson, likely to have been of any value to her.
I do not suppose for one moment you will allow me to perform my latest song "Slow Dance" soon to be out on You Tube, but do log in
on www.youtube.com/dflatau to listen to my song "Long as I Live", and to the beautiful voice of two 14 year old choir girls, singing my carol "May's Lullaby", which over 1500 have already logged onto.

Is there an opt our clause in the license fee for The One Show? If not, please introduce one. It's such rubbish television.
For a start neither Adrian or Christine actally listens to the guests. They miss every cue going for an interesting conversation...like Michael Caine talking about meeting his wife. There was the potential for a really interesting chat, but instead we cut to shark suits for swimmers or a feature on equity release. And, where’s the connection? It's all so unconnected.
Find something else for 7pm prime slot.

Just think back on the variety of differing parts that he has played in his career. As he said tonight, film work is not about acting, it is about behaving. That is why he may look the same and even sound the same but is always, without fail, convincing.

Have just returned from US.
Have realised the One Show is of a comparable standard to most of the mid-west cable TV shows in Oklahoma, Nebraska, Arkansas, Idaho etc etc. Mindless substandard slop served up at peak viewing times which viewers have on as backgroung noise while they prepare the evening meal for the family.
The difference is the BBC licence payers pay through the nose for this substandard mind numbing rubbish. The content and quality is so memorable most viewers couldn't even tell you what was on the One Show 48 hours after watching it.

I enjoyed my brief appearance on your show today as the dancer in the original Ultravox Vienna video. I remember the experience of filming it as if it were yesterday! Now nearly 30 years on I'm still in the dance business working as an opera choreographer. I have since worked in the real Vienna and can't say 'It means nothing to me'.

re 69: It was started by Peter Sellers who invented the story about his friend Michael Caine. Sellers used to say that it arose from dinner parties when Michael Caine used the expression after quoting from the Guiness Book of records. Peter Sellers'also used his Micahael Caine voice on his answer phone greeting.

Thank you for 1 hour of the One Show. FANTASTIC. It is my favourite show. I enjoy all the reporters and there stories,i wish i could see more of them each week. The presenters are great and i think Christine is a breath of fresh air. Please keep up the brilliant work and never take it off air.

I watched this prog today, 23rd, on site, thought it excellent, a good mix of subject matter and guests. Maybe they try to cover too many themes in so short a time slot, especially regarding the more serious topics--but you can't always please everyone, (and never will) and the programme --like all live shows, are at the mercy of availability of good guests.
