What did you think of The One Show? Guest: Michael Aspel
Adrian and Christine were joined in the studio by Michael Aspel.
Mr Aspel travelled back to south London to visit the house where he grew up.
Dom Littlewood investigated the case of the Nottinghamshire couple and a 'buy now pay later' scheme.
Dr Sarah Jarvis warned us of the dangers of Lyme disease.
And asking, "Is feminism outdated?" Angellica Bell headed to Goldsmiths University to meet a group of students that have formed their own branch of the Women's Institute. Feminism isn't needed anymore?

I'm sorry but why did Dom Littlewood go to see a couple who hadn't read their terms and conditions on a hire purchase agreement properly. There was no story there, this couple had just made a mistake that was their own fault and it cost them money. Most other people who sign 'Buy now, pay later' agreements get it right so why waste airtime on someone who didn't!!!

Where did that go? Love the show, Mike Aspel was great, Sarah was great but PLEASE PLEASE - it's not a longboat - IT'S A NARROWBOAT!! Longboats are what Vikings used - rampant blond men with evil on their minds and tin hats with horns on them - bring it on!!!!!!

Yes but hey Bestengel, you get those contracts and they are MAD and as Dom said, designed to fool the public all of the time!! It's easy to do, that's why Dom highlighted it - and it's always great in hindsight - finance companies are evil and should be destroyed!!! Well, a certain number of them anyway!!

As you can tell, new to blogging - what a great way to get your views across - anyway, I LOVE the One Show - it's brill, and I wish I was famous so's I could get on - but I'm just ordinary with no outstanding features, face-lifts, famous family, just that I had the Beatles to supper - is that enough to get me on!

Bestengel is right. It's a product that many people use to their advantage and are able to read the contract clearly. If Dom really believes they write these contracts to catch people out then he should prove that these companies are defrauding customers in a court of law. Otherwise he's impugning the reputation of legal activities.

Bestengel, AGREE 100%.
it was a non story,he misread it and the finance company make money when you go from the interest free period to interest bearing.
the lesson dom should have pushed was read and understand,if you dont - ask.
we have a culture now that it is always someone else to blame.

I may a point of not missing the one show, love it. Watching Michael Aspel brought back many memories for me as I like lot of other children I to was evacuated but my time away from home was not very pleasent because we where not made very welcome. After nearly 3yrs my Mum come and took me back home, as she said at the time ," if we are going to go we'll all go together"
I think the content of the programes is nicely mixed keep up the good work

I was 6yrs when the war ended, all I remember of the war was being got out of bed in the middle of the night, sirens going full blast, search lights in the sky, and sitting in a cold shelter, which by the way was really smelly, standing in a queue in the school hall cos they were handing out free ovaltine, oh dear! I'm sounding like Uncle Albert in Fools and Horses, but I was lucky enough to be with my Mam and Dad, not like you harfsharp, post 11.

Bestengel is correct about the way tonights story about Creation Consumer finance was presented, but deeper digging with other people who have used this company will find that they make it very difficult to pay on time e.g. a telephone system that does not work when you try to pay by phone; even if you pay on time you may be too late as they want you to pay 5 days earlier; misleading and untimely communication to make it difficult to pay the forfeit charge on time so that they can extort even more money from you, constant threats to place a negative judgement on credit reference reports if you don't do things their way; erroneous information to credit reference companies etc. I have firm evidence of all of these and I am not alone - just google Creation and see for yourself. My case is with the FSA but I don't hold out much hope. So there is a story there, it was just missed tonight.

Dear One Show
I have never written to a program before, but I have just watched the One show, and you had a Doctor doing a piece on ticks in the woods.
I am absolutely amazed that you allowed this woman to terrify parents and walkers of the danger of a tick that can bite and cause a nasty reaction in people and as shown you could end up in a wheelchair.
This country and its woodlands are a source of enjoyment to millions of people, but now we have to be aware of this tick, this nasty bit of work will bite you and you could end up crippled for life.
Your doctor then said if you are going out “cover your self up, cover your arms and legs”. When Adrian says “You don’t want to cover up, you want to wear shorts, it’s just not a runner” this doctor turned and said, “Well you go out and don’t cover up! You be like that Adrian, you tell people to go out and be without any fear” How arrogant is that, She could not justify what she was saying so attack Adrian. She said earlier that there had been 3000 cases per year then in the studio 3000 cases ever, she should get her facts right! This means you have more chance of being hit with a car, dying in a fire or a stroke, heart disease or even an asteroid hitting the Earth. Maybe we should all go around like the king from ‘Asterisks’ with a shield above our heads.
Is this just another way to keep the populace in fear? It’s spin! The politicians, and so called Scientists do it all the time “Don’t eat eggs, don’t eat meat, don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t walk in the woods”. What is this world coming too? Your show is on at prime time. And many people take what you say as the truth. I am sick of hearing from these so called experts.
This woman was walking though the woods with high heels, and this is someone I should take notice of!!! Why scare the hell out of your audience you are (I think) a family show.
Your other presenter Don Littlewood needs to get a life, you showed him telling us that we should not fall into the trap that his example fell into by not paying his debt on time. It is not the company’s fault that he left it to the last minute to pay. If he is intelligent enough to take out a no interest loan, then he should have the intelligence to pay it on time. Do not make them the innocent victim!! We have become a nanny society, if things go wrong, the answer by the people is “Well nobody told ME”.
Try and be a bit more objective, and one last thing Adrian let your guest speak, they are the ones with a story to tell!
