    Dear Now Show Production Team,

I’m a Spanish viewer. Thank-you for not allowing anyone to wear their Blue Peter Badges either on tonight’s show or in the Green Room afterwards.

Many of your British viewers probably don’t realise that the depiction of a Tudor warship on a supposedly innocent child’s badge is deeply offensive and hurtful to all Spanish people. The blue Tudor warship reminds all Spaniards of the way in which British privateers disrupted our trade with South America during the 15th and 16th centuries and also the way in which such warships were used to such devastating effect against the Armada during the humiliating naval engagement of the same name.

Is it not time for the ‘Little Britain’ brigade to stop finding any pride in their history or culture and stop using such inappropriate symbols for children’s badges? The BBC is to be commended for its work in re-writing and revising so called British culture and history.

Ps One exception, please don’t ban Rupert Bear from the Green Room. When I see British people on holiday in Spain they all behave like Rupert Bear, overly suspicious of anything foreign, understated superiority complex, unrealistic expectations, very white, badly dressed with a sense of humour that only they find funny.

Gulp! I hope I haven’t said anything inappropriate!

We find that by placing an empty plastic drinks bottle (water or soda or whatever) filled slightly with pebbles or other weighty items, serves the purpose for keeping the water frost free. If it does get too frosty, just fill the top of the bottle with some hot water and the ice soon melts.

Works much better than a plastic ball or tennis ball.

A superb, intelligent and charismatic man.
And incredibly smart in more ways than one. He was his usual brilliant self tonight and saved the One Show for this viewer.

Far superior to that Chiles who seemed terribly jealous of his eminent guest, and was more nervous and fidgety than ever tonight!

Perhaps Chiles was worried the producer, spotting Paxman's talent, might see that Paxman would make a perfect match beside Christine?

Chiles' position (and character ) on the show is being lamented by so many - and not just on here but in the press and on other tv channels too. Guess that would make anyone worried in today's current economic climate.

More poignantly, I found Chiles incoherent on tonight's show and missed much of what he mumbled.

Makes one wonder if he had slipped in to the Green Green Grass Room before the show started?

Would not be at all surprised if he rumbled in there to count the alcoholic drinks only to find himself unable to resist temptation; what with all the stress he is no doubt under!

Broken marriage, people accusing him of being a snitch etc., why the poor man,... who would blame him for having a couple of drinks to calm his nerves?

I am not being facetious I honestly could not understand Chiles at all.

As I said on last night's blog, he talks far too quickly anyway; as if he cannot wait for the show to end.

Maybe I am being harsh here and he has to speak at such speed so that he does not forget the lines he has just read on his script?

Whatever, he should be politely asked to slow down and to speak more clearly!

Better still, dump him BBC, there must be plenty of others standing in the wings who could do a much better job.

And Christine, thank you so much for not cackling tonight. A definite improvement, get yourself a double on me and the other licence payers , if you go in the Green Room tomorrow.

Glad to see the comments are as lively and enjoyable as ever - the postings that the moderator has left posted that is. I'm in agreement that the best part of the One Show is the online blog - much more entertaining. Glad to read that Gyles Brandreth and dear old Paxo were on tonight. He doesn't mince his words and no doubt injected a much needed dose of sanity. I wouldn't begrudge him a shandy in the Grass room - oops I mean Green room afterwards even though I don't agree with my licence fee being squandered on liquor for all and sundry associated with the 29 minute show. Why doesn't Adrian stand the guests a drink at the local pub? He can afford it. As for the Carol fiasco (to the valiant Pippa in particular) I think it is pretty clear that, alas, Carol won't be returning and hopefully we will see her fronting her own show in the future on a more "tolerant" broadcasting station. The more I think of it I can imagine Ms Brand rushing from the Green room with the vapours on hearing what was uttered unthinkingly by Carol. I'm in agreement that this Carol's utterances were probably the result of being already flustered over the unrestrained hostility she encountered from Brand and Chiles, that many witnessed on air that evening. Brand probably attracted a lot of attention as she "stormed out" - especially since the "word" twice uttered was from a 'nasty Thatcher'! The matter was then blown out of all proportion and treated in a hysterical manner by the "powers that be" which has made the corporation look ridiculous. I'm all for tolerance and inclusion but it has to work both ways. I wonder if Ms Brand, with her obviously delicate disposition has recovered from the trauma? As someone has recently posted J Brand was heard on QI giving the elderly Baroness Thatcher a tongue lashing. Just Brand's level of "humour", so unsophisticated and low brow. Why does the BBC see fit to broadcast yet more politically biased drivel? Is this country so devoid of female talent that Brand has to be wheeled out with such depressing regularity? I find J Brand highly offensive in every sense. I hope she's not given a further airing on the One show or anywhere else on the BBC. I object to my licence fee being used in this way.
When are we going to have some response to our postings on the One Show? I might then tune in. It would be worth it.

    Dear Adrian Chiles,

Please try and remember you already have a very heavy work load.

It’s just not going to be possible for you to be in every Green Room and studio at the BBC monitoring every conversation.

Take a leaf out of the former East German secret police, the Stasi. Now they really knew how to organise and run an effective web of informants. At one stage they had a ratio of 1 in 6 of the population, family, friends, work colleagues all informing on each other. On a budget that was significantly smaller than that of the BBC I may add.

No one expects you to set up that kind of network overnight. Start small at first, setting up your web within the One Show, Match of the Day II and Apprentice production teams recruiting maybe 3-4 people within in each unit. Then expand slowly but surely.

Hopefully once your webs set up it will hopefully take all the hard work out of informing, albeit you’ll still get all the credit for dropping people in it who you don’t like or agree with.

When Adrian had (just maybe) a perfect opportunity to put dear Mr Paxman in his place, and in so doing give some of us a great deal of pleasure, he did not take it. Speaking of bankers' apologies, Jeremy Paxman used the word 'fulsome'. This is the point at which Adrian could/should have intervened and asked what exactly he meant by 'fulsome' (one of the most frequently misused words in English). FULSOME: 'Excessive or insincere especially in an offensive or distasteful way.' (Bill Bryson characterizes it as 'unctuous and insincere toadying'.) It could well be that Jeremy Paxman was using the word as it was meant to be used, but will we ever know? A replay to put the word in context and then a direct question to Jeremy Paxman himself might help the nation decide.

Like many people I know, don't bother to watch the programme anymore, I got fedup with watching Adrian Chiles, the "champagne socialist"and pathetic sneak doing his well known impersonation of boiled cabbage.
Do you think that Chiles, Jay Hunt etc have the guts to actually read what people think of them on these blogs, probably not, they wouldn't want to know what the licence fee payers opinions are, we only pay their grossly inflated salaries,
By the way love the idea of the Adrian Chiles loo paper!!!

Actual definition of fulsome: Quote from online dictionary:

Fulsome is often used to mean "offensively flattering or insincere." But the word is also used, particularly in the expression fulsome praise, to mean simply "abundant," without any implication of excess or insincerity.

So it appears that it can be used both ways, however that still doesn't excuse the One Show's behaviour to Carol Thatcher which was appalling.

Well done Jeremy for being brave enough to air your views.

    Dear One Show Production Team,

During last nights show I was distracted by the flicker of break lights behind the presenters and their guests apparently from a Securicor lorry reversing up to the door in the BBC courtyard delivering Adrian Chiles salary.

That’s £1.2 million divided by 52 weeks less tax deductions for Chauffeur driven cars to and from the BBC studio, and of course 40% to the Chancellor.

In future could his wages be delivered either before or after the show.

May I also suggest payment in £50 notes as this will reduce the delivery vehicle down to a Bedford Van and negate the need for a lorry. More environmentally friendly.

A large number of former bankers want come and work at the BBC. I wonder why?

They may choose to ignore the warning signs but decent people are entertained by other decent people.
Hopefully the fulsome Jay Hunt will have to answer for the unfair dismissal of Carol in court.

Jeremy Paxman was quite amusing and did have Adrian on edge for the entire show, but what else would you expect from a blunt and forthright man.

Going back to the Thatcher incident though (her use of an inappropriate word aside) I derived a great deal of pleasure from seeing a Thatcher losing her job seeing as her mother put millions on the dole during the eighties. Goes round comes round, albeit on a smaller but not insignificant scale.
