Totally agree with the BBC action re Carol Thatcher. In her position C.T. should have known better. But what's even worse is her refusal to make an unambigous and unequivocal apology.

My favourite show - but as a protest at BBC's treatment of Carol Thatcher I shall turn it off for a week! Of course she was silly - but the damage was done by the publicity that followed. Jonathon Ross must be sniggering!

Regarding the Carol Thatcher debacle this really is a mountain out of a mole hill.
Your associate on the news programme has tried to inflame the situation in favour of the BBC by saying that a golliwog is a grotesque black animation according to the dictionary.
Well MY Oxford dictionary describes it as a soft black faced doll with curly hair, a somewhat different description.
Also I am sure that before the politically correct left lunies got involved a golliwog was a favourite cuddly toy carried under the arm of millions of children and an object of love and affection. There was no question of it being racially abusing and defamatory.
Whoever complained about the remark must have had another agenda and out to embarrass C.T. and it is up to the BBC to find the truth and take the appropriate measures against the nark

I hope that this area is being viewed as a "Complaints" spot. Just a couple of points.
1. When are those people/children who snitched on Carol Thatcher going to be asked to apologise to her? After all, what is said in the Green Room should stay in the Green Room.
2. At least somebody in the BBC must have a sense of humour because I thought the photo of lawyer made him look like an albino golliwog. (I can say that, can't I?!)

Carol Thatcher's remarks are totally harmless unless you are a self-righteous, politically-correct, illiberal fascist. I will never watch the One show again. The BBC are fascists who are completely against free speech - unless they agree with what is being said. People of Carol's age had golliwogs as children and do not associate the word with race.

I think this is a cheap ploy to make the BBC look as if they have a zero tolerence to any unacceptable behaviour. I feel sorry for Carol Thatcher and they way in which they have used her. Surely her comments were off the record and unfortunately for her she thought were make in an environment where she could speak her mind. I grew up playing with a "golliwog" doll and also had a "chocolate" doll but that does not make me a racist person.
Will we all have to look over our shoulder now wondering if the term "ginge" or "taff" is acceptable. What a joke society our poor children are growing up in.

So the BBC think they are justified in sacking CT because she offended some nameless person and didn't apologise. Will Sir David Frost now be asked to apologise to offended Roman Catholics following his joking references on last nights show? The BBC has over reacted (a quite word with CT would have done) and harmed race relations. Who was the snitch; why haven't they got the guts to come forward?

Having now seen a picture of the tennis player concerned, who didn’t have wild fuzzy hair, Miss Thatcher was undoubtedly bringing to the attention of those around that he was “not one of us”, take off the golly and the last part of the ame was what she intended to say. And it’s what we would expect from a Tory talking among other Tories – but she forgot where she was. Well done for sacking her

What a complete over reaction by the BBC. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Carol Thatcher's enthusiam and unigue style of delivery on the One Show. Now I just feel angry at the namby pambies running the show who are over sensitive for all the wrong reasons. This is clearly a conspiracy to get rid of Carol. Who do you think your kidding, you must think your viewers are a bunch of idiots? We know the BBC is not always politically correct or truly care's about people's feelings otherwise they would have got rid of Jonathan Ross who was much more offensive, insulting and over paid! What a soory and pathetic way to treat Carol Thatcher. If the reports I have read are correct the BBC needs to think very carefully about the image that it is presenting to the Great British Public. If the BBC is going to sack someone for allegedly using a "word" relating to Jam Jars. And a comment made in private in the Green Room. Then how do they square that up with the disciplinary action taken against the lewd and offensive comments made by Jonathan Ross, which have divided a family.
Jonathan Ross is suspended after taking 5 days to react. Carol Thatcher is sacked.
Does it add up? I will leave you too think about that one.

Skinners comment re stealing from companies was obviously tongue in cheek but lets face it theft from companies costs a lot of money but it is amusing. As a child growing up near Troon in Scotland it was easy to spot the colour of any new ship being built at the local shipyard. If blue sheds and fences started to pop up the latest ship was blue and when one ship which had tons of teak wall covering supposedly on board awas being built a host of teak living rooms turned up in the town. Costly but funny.... I even admit that occasionally I take a pen home from work.... thank goodness I own the company.

It's so good to read that most of the comments posted regarding Carole Thatcher think the whole episode is ridiculous. What has happened to our country?
We seem to have got ourselves into such a politically correct muddle (well done, BBC). We have become so intolerant BUT only regarding certain sectors of society. It's still okay to take the mickey out of the Irish, redheads (ginger tops) and those who are regarded as 'accentless' as I have noticed Adrian has shown before on this programme.
What Adrian doesn't say when talking to the guests, can be analysed by his body language. Ask any psychologist.
Won't be watching the programme again, unless Carole is given an apology and reinstated.

In common with many others, I am fed up with the manner in which the BBC seems to be trying to stay ahead of the PC brigade and invent ever more words or phrases which are considered worthy of the death penalty. The Carol Thatcher fiasco should never have been allowed to happen and the piously righteous manner adopted by the BBC is more than can be stomached. She should never have been censured for using a word that most reasonable people see as an innocent doll or badge. Look for a problem and you are sure to find one. We can presumably see alll sorts of adeptations of normal language to protect those who dont even see a problem. I dispair and given my inability to gain any real access to the BBC I will protest in the only manner open to me; our house will no longer watch the show, please reduce your viewing figures by two.

I hope Frank Skinner is going to be banned from appearing on BBC tv from now on as he clearly thinks it is ok to defraud potential employers as to the validity of cvs that contain lies. Carol Thatcher has been treated shamefully - shame on you BBC.
When will you understand you have seriously offended the viewing public who pay your licence fee? This will not go away. You cannot condone people knowingly defrauding potential employers (and laughing about it as if it's a good thing to do) whilst sacking Carol for a private remark. The tennis player referred to was not even in the room! I wonder what he thinks of all this fuss?
Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley looked really bleak tonight: get rid of them both. They were obviously subdued - and quite right too: over 2000 people have complained about Carol's treatment. WAKE UP BBC. You are answerable to the viewing public - the licence-fee payers. We were'nt offended by the comment relating to a cuddly toy. Get a sense of proportion.

I think that Carol Thatchers comments were unnaceptable and the BBC are correct in not allowing her to report on the show.
The much malinged PC is about not intentionally offending people in a way in which they are offended its about basic rules of politemess and repsent. We can all think of words that we might find offensive if they were associated with us or our loved ones especially if they were based on age, sex, disability etc. Gollywog is offensive to many black people becasue it was used extensivly in the past as a term of abuse. Its use in relation to a persons colour has nothing to do with the image used on the jam jar or its intended use for that purp[pose but haw it was taken by racists and used to offend others. I respect the wishes of minority communities and do not used words that they find offensive. Thats respect and if its PC too thats fine by me.

Your official statement about the "remark" made by Carol Thatcher states " (the)remark made by Carol Thatcher in The One Show Green Room last Thursday caused considerable offence. There are several interesting issues here. To whom was the remark made? And were they offended? What exactly was the remark? What was the context? In what manner was the comment made? And here is the important issue. We do not know what was said or who complained. Remind you of anything? It reminds me of the secret denouciation so favoured of totalitarian regimes. If the comment had been made in a broadcast we would have a record of what was said. But here we don't have that. Nor do we have anybody, as far as I have seen, go on record to give a verbatim report. A major over reaction on the part of the BBC and one cannot but conclude that there was another agenda behind the reaction if only to make an example.
Thankfully I have never been a "The One Show" viewer and for sure this is one show I will continue to avoid.
A postscript - oh if only we could have a vote on the licence fee!

After having done a search for the players in the Australian Open, I believe I might have found the man of the 'gollywog' comment who had damaged his wrist on 26 January and had to retire from the tournament. Well, he is French as well as being black and having a wild kind of hair and, at first glance, if you don't speak the language well his name is not easy to say (Gael Monfils) so how are you going to describe the player you are trying to talk about?? What is certain, next year at Wimbledon, if he plays there, we will recognize him and perhaps all this 'hooha' will enhance his career!

I my self couldn't call any one a golliwog, I know it was a child's cuddly toy at one time, but it was a caricature of people who came from Africa, and to my mind was in bad taste, yes I know we Brits like to make fun of each other, namely the jokes about the Irish, the Scots, and Geordie's being old fashioned and a bit slow, I'm sorry but a think being called a Golliwog is much worse, I'm sure to be shot down in flames, can any one who has brown skin please give us their opinion, or are they not interested. It was clear that the comedienne did not want to be sat next to the ex-tory prime minister's daughter ( I like them both, but politics always shows through). Now I hear Jo has been part of a fit-up of Carol, how else can it be described?
Carol was silly and naive and not PC with her comment (as have many other bigger public figures recently) HOWEVER she does not deserve this treatment. She has brought a lot to The One Show, and actually I believe SHE is owed an apology for the on-air snub (watched by just a few more than were in the Green Room!) based on not race, but the politics of her parent! I fail to see one is worse than the other. My family and I will definitely no longer be watching theshow, and good luck Carol.

The full OED (2nd ed 1989) of gollywog is worth noting:
A name invented for a black-faced grotesquely dressed (male) doll with a shock of fuzzy hair. Also shortened golly, Golly.
If you look up a word such as C***k you'll find it has (Derogatory.) after it, which is missing fron the definition of gollywog. Words change over time and AC should realise that different generations have different takes on how insulting a word is - but then ageism is much lower in the hierachy of cardinal sins, and youth is always assured of its own political correctness.
BBC's management (an oxymoron) has been appalling its handling of this - it's clear that to them as Humpty Dumpty said to Alice, “When I use a word, it means just what I (the BBC) choose it to mean – neither more nor less”.
Still it was nice to note that David Frost got a joke denigerating Catholics (which AC has recently become) and stereotyping blacks. Will he be banned from the BBC as well? Will

Oh is this show still on , should have been axed straight after the Snitchgate affair. Jobs for snitchers apply here .
I dont think that Carol will ever want to come anywhere near the beeb in future and possible guests will be very causious about coming on shows in the future for that matter , i would'nt blame any employee of there's for quiting , as so many have done due to being totally disillusioned with there shoddy code of practice if one could call it that .
There is lots of good stuff , no better stuff on the other channels plus lots to choose from too.

Well done to the BBC for taking action against Carol Thatcher. She might find racism a joke but those of us who have suffered abuse aren't laughing. Her agent's comments just make the situation worse. Of course Carol and her army of supporters don't find racist terms offensive - they are the type of people who dreamt up the insults in the first place.
She is also a terrible reporter, her on screen personality is every bit as odious as the private self she has now revealed.

I am appalled at the BBC again encouraging political correctness to become rampant and even more oppressive. A gollywog is a toy, it even graced the label of Robertson's jams for years. If Carol Thatcher commented that a sportsman's hair made him look like a gollywog, that may lack taste but is not a sackable offence .Whoever complained, like a schoolchild telling tales to a teacher, should be thoroughly ashamed.
Incidentally the good old Lefties siezing on this incident to make a Political point are so predictable. The comparison with Jonathan Ross's treatment shows the BBC is again scoring an own goal. Grow up into the real world and not the nightmare you are helping to create.

Re the Carol Thatcher debacle:
first of all she was in a work space which I am pleased to hear has anti-oppressive policies. So whether it was in the public arena is irrelevant. Racist language should be challenged whether or not it was going to be made public and I am pleased that is what happened. As for those who defend what she said, people who use racist terms don't know that is what they are doing; that is why their ignorance is damaging. You will find people who are the victims of racist abuse sometimes agreeing with their tormentors. They live in a racist culture and have been conditioned to see it as harmless banter. Those of us who are not subjected to racism when we are part of the dominant culture have a duty to be vigilant.

Find it strange that your website asks viewers to submit opinions on the programme or any other issue given that you clearly find the opinions of CT so offensive. Surely this is courting controversy?
Some people DO look like gollywogs, some people look like Shrek, I am no oil painting! I find it hard to believe that Jo Brand and Adrian Chiles were offended by this observation/comment.
I think recent events have undermined the credibility of an already questionable show. Bring back Nationwide!

The controversy over Ms Thatcher reminded me about this show. It is dull, it is boring!!
It is so middle class, so middle aged, so middle of the road and so belonging to the last century.
Perhaps this controversy will encourage the BBC to replace this show with a modern current affais show

I am at a loss for words about all this fuss over the word "gollywog" uttered by Carol Thatcher. I was far more insulted by Jonothan Ross's broadcast of utter filth and the recent report of a "celebrety" indecently exposing themselves whilst being interviewed on radio! Has the world gone stark staring mad. Come on GET A LIFE!

I hope all the comments your are receiving are also being registered as complaints - have you got the backbone to do this? I recommend the BBC look at the way other European broadcasters work, they do not come bogged down in petty controversies, they also deliver the news IN AN UNBIASED WAY. You obviously recruit the main part of your presenters from the Left, government supporting people. What is your secret agenda?? You should represent ALL the people in the UK, not just the ones that agree with you!!!!

So are the BBC going to sack Clarkson for his racist and offensive to disabled people remarks then? I think the BBC's treatment of Thatcher is sexist but also a dig at her Mother - all the men get off with it (Ross, Moyles, Clarkson) but the women (Thatcher and the controller of Radio 2) have to go then. Also I was there a black person in the room who was offended? When Halle Berry complained about Moyles being racist nothing was done by the PC BBC oh yes but then she wasn't a white middle class PC leftie like the entire BBC management class. And why can't the brave smitch be named by the BBC seeing as they authorised the leak - we can all write in with a Freedom of Information Request asking for this info. I would ask all to register their complaint with the BBC, write to your MP to abolish the BBC poll tax (which they so critcise Thatcher for but we've had it for years) and also boycott Red Nose day and pledge the money to DEC instead. I also hope Chiles, Bleakley and the talentless Bland's (about as funny as vomit) careers are finished.

Why not rename the One Show the 'Ein Show' aka the 'Germany in the 1930s show' with Chiles, Brand, Hunt and Bleakley as members of the SS thought police ruthlessly policing and snooping on people in private to see of they utter any unPC words or even have thoughts which do not comply with the BBC beliefs and values. If they do they can then be sent to the gas chambers or the Eastern Front, so that ultimately the country beliefs and history can be cleansed of any impurities. Oh yes and the BBC has a history of persecuting religious minorities a la Herr Dross with Andrew Sachs. And it knows all about propaganda and self promotion too so Himmlers job is done. All Heil Thompson, Heil Lyons, Heil Dross and all heil to the BBC thousand year Reich!

I watched BBC news last night to hear what they had to say on the controversy and what did I find...a smug story about how ITV viewers had missed the only goal in a football match because of a computer error.
This sums up the BBC's attitude ... poke fun at the competition and ignore your own shortcomings.
I bet there are more people incensed about the BBC double standards (CT vs Wozz ) that there were about having to watch a recording of the goal 2 minutes after it was scored.
What else did we see? A very apologetic head of ITV apologising immediately for the failure of his company. Stand up BBC bosses and get your apology out

This seems to be the standard tactic of the BBC when it does something outrageous and indefensible -

It is beyond belief the way the BBC has treated Carol Thatcher. Surely a private conversation is just that, private!
I understand there is an unwritten rule that what happens or is said in the green room stays in the green room, or do these rules only apply when it suits the organisation or the individuals within it?
Carol's comments were never aired, unlike Jonathan Ross' and yet he is still employed and paid how much?? At least Carol Thatcher broadcasts were not at the expense of others.

Carol Thatcher is a talented journalist and I think it is disgraceful that she was sacked for a private comment, which somebody "snitched" on and for which she subsequently apologised. The BBC is guilty of double standards, as I cannot understand why Jonathon Ross was not sacked for his disgusting and offensive prank, especially as it was broadcast on national radio. His apology was not sincere; he only apologised because he was afraid of being sacked and losing his £18m contract which, as a licence payer, I resent having to contribute towards.

Last night's show seemed to condone lying on CVs and stealing from the stationery cupboard. The advert was for a show that was sold-out, the guest was not funny and please note, it cannot be made so by paroxysms of laughter from the female presenter and the behind camera crew - this just makes it embarrasing. The same ploy was tried with the night before when the Frost item was 'livened-up' by sycophantic presenter and crew laughter and applause. I can see why you had an 'AHHH' item with the seals but what was going on afterwards with the patronising and poorly constructed model garden? Then we had the 'Conservation police' item - the public information films in the war were better.
The only hope for this show is take it off - have a think and bring it back with new presenters, producer, crew and concept.

Of course, CT should not have said something that may offend, but my recollection of G...g badges is that they depicted people of stature such as doctors, nurses, sportspeople etc, all surely positive images of role-models.
Soon none of us will dare say anything for fear it may offend. Am I allowed to say "teeny-weeny" I wonder or has that now gained a sinister implication that has eluded me like the G-word had.

Two points to raise. Why do you need to have the consumer items on the show? There are so many other programmes on TV dealing with consumer issues, that it would be refreshing to watch a programme without them.
Sometimes I feel the guests on the programme get little time. They are ignored for long periods of the show and often don't fit in with the other items aired in the studio.

The position taken by the BBC on Ms Thatcher's private remark demonstrates an attitude towards political correctness which was last seen in the worst days of the Militant Tendency rule of certain London boroughs during the Sevenies. There is little doubt in the minds of the majority of the public that there is a stench of anti-Thatcherism in the BBC's position and the case now provides an exquisite example of double standards when contrasted with the position of the BBC when it dealt with the Ross affair.

Hey how does the One Show do it.? You have managed to make the BBC look even more daft by creating such a fuss over Carol Thatcher's remark. The two presenters for a start. Thank goodness Adrian Chiles has finally stopped wittering on about his football team - although a football supporter myself, that was really boring. Christine still stares adoringly at him and laughs and smiles at everything that falls from his lips. Last night Frank Skinner was making jokes about stealing things from work. I think it was unfair to sack Carol Thatcher for comments said off air when the BBC failed to sack people such as Johnathan Ross, Russell Brand and Jeremy Clarkson, just to mention a few, who have actually been responsible for making insulting and offensive comments ON AIR.
It would appear that there is one law for some and not for others. I think of Carol was not the daughter of Margaret Thatcher she would not have been sacked by the BBC. I understand from newspaper reports that Ms Thatcher DID in fact apologise for her comments but that was not good enough for the BBC. One could understand if she said something on air!
Jo Brand is a known supporter of the Labour Party and suspicion must be directed at her as one of the people responsible for reporting comments made in private. She should look back at her own TV appearances and wonder whether she can hold her head up high without a blemish on her character.

So what is Jay Hunt now going to do about Jeremy clarkson's latest comments. Shouldn't he be sacked for both racist comments against the Scots and an attack on blind people.

Carol Thatcher's remarks were not made in private but in a BBC Green Room in front of a number of people including BBC staff and caused great offence to those who heard them.
The One Show had hoped that Carol would issue an unconditional apology to those whom she had offended. Unlike other presenters who have found themselves at the centre of a news story in the past, Carol declined to do so.
As a result, her position on The One Show is no longer tenable and there are no plans to work with her in the future on that show. This is because her role as a roving reporter requires her to report on a wide variety of issues and to meet a diverse range of people throughout the country, many of whom are unlikely to agree that her remarks were acceptable even as a joke.
This does not mean she is banned from the BBC as a whole but simply she is no longer able to fulfil her current role on The One Show.
The BBC considers any language of a racist nature to be wholly unacceptable.
Think far more people would concur that what jonathan ross said was a joke.

If its acceptable for recruitment agencies to lie on job adverts as they often do - then surely it is equally acceptable for applicants to lie on their CV's.

The BBC has really become rather pathetic.
Clearly describing a black person as a 'goliwog' is wrong. The word has racist implications and will offend many people. However, that does not mean that Carol Thatcher is overtly racist or intended to insult people in this way. The white liberals who have made this decision are probably overcompensating for their own latent racism and guilt.
If for example, i was to describe Pamela Anderson as a 'Barbie' doll. Am i commenting on how she appears or am i making a prejorative statement about her intellect. As a man talking about a women and how she looks to another man who has not seen her, this description may be wrong and insulting but may be my attempt to say that the woman is attractive in a 'classic way'. It does not mean that i hold negative views on equal rights for women.
Carol Thatcher was great value and her loss to the BBC is a pity. I am confident that whoever made this PC decision has contributed little to our entertainment and is overpaid.

We live in a diverse multi-cultural society and it is totally unacceptable to make such offensive comments and then claim it was all done in jest.
I have always held Jo Brand in high regard and was impressed with the way she handled the situation.
I wasn't an avid fan before but will be watching more of this show.

The BBC moderator also removed my blog because I referred to Adrian Chiles separation from his wife and children.
I also commented on his involvement or otherwise in the sacking of Carol Thatcher and the moral high ground he thinks he has over many people appearing on the One Show.

Regarding your comments about Adrian and his extra marital affairs made in public ??what is that all about?!!I have never heard anything so rediculous in my life!!The man is separated from his wife Does not go with his co presenter, no matter what media say ,and I find him and Christine good presenters on a wonderful show!!!People have to get facts right before condeming Adrian!!!very little support for Thatcher on Question Time last night!!!wish everyone would shout and support the things that really matter in this country!!!!Unbelievable!!!Prince Harrys gaffe was quickly smoothed over as was Prince Charles calling someone sooty!!!Amazing!!
Carol should go on air and say sorry! her of all people should know better!!then be considered for her job back!

As far as I'm aware still nothing on the One Show regarding Carol Thatcher. This should be discussed on the show as I said previously - I find it very difficult to watch the programme now when this has not been addressed!

Why don't the parties involved answer some simple questions and give us the transparency and honesty that the BBC holds so dear.
Specific questions are:
To Jay hunt: Even if you prefer not to name them, how many of the 12 people in the room made a formal complaint to the BBC?
To Jo Brand: You are quoted as saying you made no complaint but did you take the story to the press?
To Adrian Chiles: Did you make the complaint and if so, did you consider your own moral postion prior to doing so?
To Adrian Chiles: Were you prepared for the viewer backlash, against you personally, the programme and the BBC and if you could wind the clock back would you behave differently?

The following are selected quotations from Melanie Grant's statement from yesterday. They are quite interesting and my comments follow
"The remark made by Carol Thatcher in The One Show Green Room last Thursday caused considerable offence."
A statement. No evidence or factual support such as a statement from someone who was there quoting exactly what was said. Innuendo therefor until substantiated.
"In some reports it has been suggested that the word in question was used in jest. This was not the case...."
Sinilar point. How does Melanie know? Was she there? Who's evidence is she using?
" and the use of the word to describe a black sportsman caused instant offence."
Agaim a statement with no supporting eveidence. Who was offended and why?
Incidentally his profession is irrelevant.
"neither she (jo Brand) nor Adrian contacted the press."
Entirely misses the point. Did they complain internally within the BBC. Once that had happened it was out of their hands and one can only suspect into the fair hands of Ms Hunt to use to show how decisive and on message she is. She would get on well with the late unlamented Sir Ian Blair then!
"The following day, a number of people who had either heard the comment or learned of it, made their feelings known to the show's executive producer, who raised the issue with Carol"
"requires her (CT) to work closely with the team"
Taken together I think we begin to piece together what really happened. One suspects that it was a production team member (s) who elevated the issue beyond a minor faux pas to a major incident. We often wonder who runs the BBC. Maybe its the producion team. Presumablyy they now have a veto on who works on the show!

I find the most offensive thing about the sad Carol Thatcher debacle is the total lack of support demonstrated by her boss and colleagues. I was brought up to believe that, whatever, you didn't let your mates down - even if you didn't agree with them. I have also worked for several bosses- some of whom I liked and agreed with and some of whom I didn't. If I had offended I expected to be bollocked IN PRIVATE - but - without exception - in public I knew there would be support and solidarity.
Isn't it time the sneak was prepared to stand up and defend his/her position - or the director of the BBC to release the name? Who could be so lacking in loyalty to smear a colleage in this way? Disgusting and a coward!

I have read today in the paper that the BBC has recieved 2,200 complaints regarding the dismissal of Carol Thatcher from the one show. I would like to make it 2,201.
Its a disgrace that the BBC pander to the soft bellied, born again christian, do gooders of this world.
Every time they complain the BBC jump.
Apparently 67 of these namby pambies complained, what about the 2201 that support Carol, dont we have a voice ?.
The Russell Brand Jonathon Ross think was bad enough but now Carol Thatcher as well.
It wont be long before we are watching re-runs of Malcolm Mugeridge and Mary Whiteghouse and watching the epilogue again.
Shame on the BBC, bring Carol back.

Stick to your guns BBC. The fact that Thatcher doesn't understand the offensiveness of the word golliwog to a large number of people shows what a sheltered life she has led and how ignorant she is. This incident is in no way comparable with those other idiots, R.Brand/Ross.

Dear Frank Skinner and Adrian Chiles,
Found Frank's views on the One Show with respect to stealing stationery from an employers stationery cupboard extraordinary.
Frank if you are at the Hawthorns (West Bromwich Albion v Newcastle ) tommorrow and have BBC Stationery in your possession I will denounce you to the West Midlands police. Although Adrain may denouce you before me because it will further his promotion prosepcts at the BBC.
Stealing from your employer is a criminal offence. Although the Production team on the One Show may not be offended by it as its only licence payers money that pays for that stationery, your support for obtaining goods without payment from your employer, the BBC, is offensive to thousands of hard working law abiding licence fee payers.

Dear Highland Fling,
In answer to your question.
Adrian Chiles can't set himself up as a moral arbiter and paragon of virtue denouncing others for their private views when he has rahther offensive private views himself with respect to the sanctity of marriage. Ask Jane Garvey has she has been feeling the last 12 months.
Similarly Jo Brand is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Service because live at the Appollo theatre Hammersmith she recommended that certain members of a fringe political party should have human excrement mailed to them.
I note that niether Adrian Chiles or Christine Bleakley have complained to the One Show producer about Frank Skinner endorsing the theft of stationery from an employer which is a criminal offence.

....and now after nanny BBC shuns Carol for a normal comment anyone might make in the pub they invite on "Dr" Frank Skinner that well known foul mouthed 'comedian' recently reformed and hoping to capitalise on the Ross/Brand debacle by cleaning up his smutty act onto the show.
Frank intimates that he is doing a 'cheer up' gig for an entrance fee of £10 with some mates to get us all over the credit crunch and cheer us up a bit.
Then, Adrian Chiles (£1,000,000 a year by all accounts) pipes up and suggests that the entarnce fee to the gig is too cheap, and "you could get much more than that", thus missing the whole point of the gig!!!
Adrian was useless on Working Lunch, completely out of his depth. I was flaberghasted when he turned up on the One Show. Yet again he shows us he is nothing but an insensitive plank out of touch with normal people.
Since I suggested that he stop staring myopically at the Autocue with no attempt to disguise it, he has, to be fair, become a bit more animated, but he is still boorish, blokeish and totally in line with the 'Ross' culture so loved by Jay Hunt & Co, that so many viewers abhor.
Its time that the BBC started looking at the feedback from its Blogs and comment boards and rolled back its PC culture, consigned the foulmouth presenters and guests to the dustbin, and got some intelligent sharp and nice people onto its magazine shows.
The BBC is going right down the pan just lately, there has been gaffe after gaffe. Get a new controller and a new culture for BBC1

How can you justify the sacking of Carol when you do not take action against the offensive comments of Jeremy Clarkson. He, and Jonathon Ross get away with it time and again, yet any conflict envolving race always ends up with far more serious action. Had Jeremy Clarkson commented on Barack Obamas ethnic background, there is little doubt that we would never see or hear from him again. Calling Mr Brown a "One eyed SCOTTISH idiot" is clearly derogitory towards the Scotts, yet you do nothing?

I FULLY support the sacking/not employing Carol Thatcher. I am amazed that lots of people complained of sacking her, it shows there are a lot of racists out there. The BBC has a lot to do publicising that racisim is unacceptable in a multi cultural world. Is it all the old fogies that are complaining? or is it the young? I suspect it's the the older people who have missed the great changes, or are they ignorant and insular?
keep up the job BBC.

Some people, including the BBC, are making very misleading remarks about Carol Thatcher's apology. She did apologise. Of course she did - anyone would have done - I am sure she realised afterwards that her remark was unwise and a mistake. What she did not do is allow her apology to be dictated by the thugs and Thought Police of the BBC.

Dear demiclevercloggs,
Its people of all ages and backgrounds who are complaining and fed up with the BBC's hypocracy and inconsistent moral and cultural outlook.
This is not a multicultural society its a single British cultural society. Which everyone who comes here is welcome to join.
I'm in my thirties and have travelled extensively in Africa and the Middle east so really appreciate British cultural values and want to avoid some of the more odious practices I have personally witnessed in some African and Middle eastern countries coming to Britain.
Try going to Burnley, Oldam, Blackburn and West Bromwich there's no multi culturalism there just partitioned comunities some of whom deeply recent the western liberal values which have offered them a home and protection.

In last night's show, a clip was shown of a man from Tomorrow's World some years ago. So-called comedian Frank Skinner made an offensive remark about the man's hair. Adrian Chiles ridiculed the man's name. These offensive remarks were broadcast by the BBC to millions of viewers. Surely these two offensive bullies should be sacked and forced to make a full and unconditional apology.

I thought I would check The Sun website to see what the readers of the largest selling paper in the country thought and I was heartened to see a much more even split and indeed they lead with those who, like me, think the show was justified in it's decision not to use her services again.

It would be interesting if Carol Thatcher had said this if the one show production team were filming in a pub. Would the producer have then taken the same action saying the location was a work place. This would not have happened to Thatcher if Rossgate had not taken place. This is unfair practice by the BBC. The moderation fro this blog is bad enough.
There is a petion to bring back Carol Thatcher online which is gathering a large amount of signatures. Every time I publicise it. The Polit Bureaux take my post off.

dear blogbag, temper, temper! I am a pensioner and disabled. calling me a cretin is abusive. you cannot win arguments that way. You are right, the BBC has a role to educate and you should take advantage of the many documentaries. Dear Jabbajocky, thank you for your insult, it shows the real depth of your thinking. reasoned argument does not equate to being spineless. You are spoiling for a fight. Wars have been created by just that unthinking mentality. Thank god we have the EU and have not been to any wars yet. Dear DoctorAlbion, yours is a bit better argued. Yes I agree that the BBC is inconsistent; first Ross and then Carol, but this is very complicated. Panorama tried to sort out the abuse and then it dismissed Carol because of the Gollywog word. And was subjected to loads of complaints. At least it's trying to represent the whole of the listener. I , too have travelled widely to Africa and The middle east and my dad and I were sent to all the hot spots: 1961 Sharpville, Mboya assassination, 1967 6 day war , Cyprus war 1974. I come from a naval family (grandad was at Jutland 1916 on HMS Valiant and Somaliland 1903). I see all this confict and like you I love the UK for it's security and sanity. the UK is going through difficult times with muliculturalism and trying to be united and I can't see anybody except the BBC who is doing better.

What is it with these silly PC brigaders. Why can't you offend someone these days. I've been offended (and probably caused offence) many times in my life but I just got over it and moved on. Being offended teaches you a lot about people and life. My support is for Carol Thatcher, yet again the BBC have got it wrong as with the Ross affair. As for The One Show it is turning into the Adrian and Christine show. They are getting too big for their boots. Adrian Chiles is espcecially annoying with his laddish baffoonish antics and why does he have to squint at that piece of paper in his hand all the time. Does he have a sight problem, can he not read the autocue. I'd have thought it simple enough, Christine can do it when she's not cackling heartily. The One Show started out with promise but I'm afraid it's presenters are letting it down. I shall not be watching so much in future.

Dear One Show Producction Team,
Many of my black friends used to call me, and still do, Rupert Bear.
I suspect this was because as a child I was very ernest, naive, white and always wore yellow trousers with a red top. I also rather coincidently had a friend called Bill the Badger.
Although they called me this nickname in a sometimes derogatory and less than complimentary fashion I took it my stride and took it in good part and didn't let them see I was upset by their taunts.
Similarly my brother was always called Big Ears friend of Noddy by his black friends becuase he was always listening into their conversations uninvited. He always laughed it off.
Cutting and uncomfotable nicnames and how one copes with them is an important British cultural characteristic which some new arrivals to this country struggle to understand.

This genre went out in the sixties. It says nothing and only reports on selected 'Friends' of the BBC Left Wing staff.
It is merely another propaganda show or maybe a theatrical agency for "Has-been" Comedians now that the BBC has dispensed with Humour.
