Last night we were joined by self-proclaimed saviour of Radio 1, Chris Moyles. Watch our exclusive behind the scenes interview here
Chris has been talking-up his appearance on The One Show. When our own Christine joined him as a guest on his radio show, he claimed that all our guests ever do when they appear on the show is, "sit there like a lemon and talk about slippers!"
He even begged his audience to watch the show yesterday so that they can feel the pain he's going through while sat on our couch!

My username should say it all. I and my wife really like the show. That's because it's light witty and unjudgmental, so to roll out this creature, which by the way causes my wifes' office to turn off radio 1, is a real dissapointment. If it's just for the charity then ok but please don't make a habit of it. He's about as funny as a puncture and far less attractive.

Does part of my licence fee actually go towards paying this Moyles guy? Talk about the pain he's going through, it's nothing compared the pain that he's inflicting on us.Thank goodness that I've never heard him on the radio and I shall now make a conscious effort to avoid him.

I think you're all taking his comments a bit too seriously! Christine was on his radio show this morning and the banter was great! They both know that there is a running joke between the two shows (Moyles' radio show and The One Show) and all he is doing is playing up to it a bit. Yes he is obnoxious but that's all an act- certainly made worse by his nervousness on TV.
The least you could do is acknowledge his brilliant efforts to fund raise for Comic Relief- give him a break!!

I am a 26 year old girl who usually loves the show and enjoys a giggle but tonight ........ I had to turn it over as Chris Moyles is an IDIOT! I am shocked that he was even on the show. Also how did he get in such a position within the BBC, he thinks he is funny but is not at all! He actually repulses me. It does make me laugh that he is climbing for charity as he is the most publicly uncharitable person around!! Sorry but its a let down tonight guys .........

I fail to see the entrtainment value in having Chris Moyles on the show. He just serves as another reminder that I pay a fee to watch this rubbish. I´m turning off. As for the comment by Mr Moyles ´viewers who share my thoughts´. Are there any?

How pathetic to see Christine & Chiles being so sycophantic with Chris Moyles... what ever did they agree in the Green Room... or is that not a public space anymore? I am now convinced that the obviously gorgeous and intellectual Jo Brand used her charm on you Jane but, please, you are so inconsistant and you give both your gender and you age such a poor image.

People are doing items that are of both light relief and serious. His attitude stinks, neither coming accross as caring or amusing.
Christine has grown into a very competant presenter and Adrian is peerless.
If the BBC concentrate on him during the comic relief documentary of the climb I fear there will be a backlash.

Chris Moyles is an example of the puerile dumbed-down guests you are getting on the show. I really enjoyed The One The One show when it began, but now instead of people who have something of interest to share with us, we have overpaid, foul-mouthed idiots who have no place in a family oriented presentation. Unfortunately for you, there are millions of people who enjoy his radio show every morning and I doubt that the BBC will want to give you a reduction in your fee just because you don't enjoy it.
I really hope you can support Comic Relief in another way because that's what it's really all about.
It seems you need more of a sense of humour and to stop taking things to heart.If you don't like it then you could always turn it off!

I cannot believe Chris Moyles denied recognising his PE teacher.... his body language gave it away! As soon as he saw the VT he sat upright & his eyes were wide open in surprise!!! Hey, wasn't sure about him before but now I know I really don't like him!

I think that you are all being a bit unfair. Chris Moyles is an intelligent and incredibly talented bloke who has worked hard to get where he is today. If you looked at his background you would realise this. He may come across as rude, but is is just his style and he doesn't think he's too good for anyone!! If you had heard his show this morning you would understand how he felt about going on the One Show tonight, which would explain why he acted in certain ways during the show. He may not be everyone's cup of tea, but who is?!? Its not fair to make harse judgements about people just because you don't understand them.

Message 17 - difficult to take seriously with such poor use of English and punctuation. Message 28 - Yes, there are many who listen to his show and saddened they must now be but many use shows such as his as background music, without really engaging with the show at all. It is also fine and normal to be nervous about being on TV, but this still does not excuse bad manners and boorish behaviour. If he was that concerned why go on at all. As far as his charity efforts are concerned I would rather now commit my money to someone with a greater chance of success.
And, number 25, I have already committed to Comic Relief.

BBC bosses took a chance on him 5 years ago and I believe he wouldn't have remained at the top for as long if he hadn't earnt it. I'll say one thing- he does work hard and his show is his passion. He's not just some random bloke that wandered in off the street (despite some people's opinions).

I am not sure I detect much hate here, but I do detect poor judgement, an ill-advised appearence on TV and a poorly executed attempt to sum up support for a charity event. Would you employ him for anything based on his performance in The One Show?

Please lighten up!!!! As a few of you have said you have to listen to Chris and his team on a regular basis to understand his humour and his behaviour tonight. He is under no illusions about himself and as a middle aged lady who listens to him every morning, i tuned into to tonights show especially to see him and yes he made me chuckle. Something that is pretty rare these days even me watching the tele with all the doom and gloom on it.
If we were all the same what a boring place this world would be.

I've watched the One show since it started and generally find it entertaining and also relaxing after a days graft. I was disappointed to see tonite Chris Moyles, an offensive man who insults my intelligence. He has little intellect, personality or manners. I am looking forward to seeing Patrick Stuart tomorrow night - a gentleman and a man with character, independant thought and also shows some interest in whatsgoing on around him. Why does somebody like Moyles go on a show he has no interest in as he himself said. Hes much too self-orientated for a wide ranging programme like the One show. Lets have less self-opinionated individuals like Moyles on TV.

I thought that this was a great show, Chris was the reason that i tuned in. He was clearly a bit nervous and can't wait to see what they say about that tomorrow. Other than that he was playing to the friendly banter he has with the one show.
With regards to the CM blog, we can phone into our show, text and also email. Not just restricted to blogging on the R1 website either with Chris' site, GeekWorld and Aled's.

Seriously, some of the criticism of Chris Moyles tonight is understandable and constructive, but many on both sides of this debate are stooping a little low.
Those who listen to the radio show in the morning will understand that Chris and the team are fans of The One Show and the banter between the respective presenters is very entertaining.
It may not have been very clear to those who have never listened to the radio show, but Chris would have been very excited to appear (and as always on tv, a bit nervous with it)

I'm retired now, so unlike you lot, I'm not awake early enough to hear any early morning radio, I've done my whack, and earned my right to a lovely lie in, so I've not heard the Moyles radio show, all I know is he's climbing a mountain for charity, and thats good isn't it ? a lot of these show biz folk do charity just for a bit of publicity, but who cares as long as the money gets to the people in need, Vi.

As a regular One Show viewer I am appalled that the BCC have stooped so low as to invite a Z-list celebrity oaf such as Chris Moyles onto the show.
So what if the guy has over 7 million listeners every day to his radio show and is trying to raise £1 million for Comic Relief to help eradicate malaria - I tuned in to see Giles Brandreth's report about mis-shapen Ravoli.

I think many of previous comments seem very harsh. I don't think he's particularly comfortable on TV which is why he only appeared to raise money for charity.
I think his radio show is funny because its humour without worrying too much about being PC. He appeals to such an audience as Radio 2 appeals to a different audience. i think there's room for everyone. Im sure tomorrow's show will feature guests more suitable for the usual One Show viewer. Just keep an open mind!

Chris Moyles has been doing a lot of work for Red Nose Day, not only months of training but advertising on air which has led to well over ?100,000 (I think its around 130K out of a total 175K) for Comic Relief so far.
I find him very amusing and think he made the entire One Show much more interesting!
So less of this "I hope he gets lost up the mountain" rubbish and more DONATIONS TO COMIC RELIEF!

Chris Moyles has millions of listeners every day on Radio one, if you don't like him switch off and watch or listen to something else. He was on there for charity, and I watched it and found him hilarious. If you watched it you would also have seen the presenters enjoying it.

I think Chris was a great choice of guest and the one show followed on perfectly from Christine being on Radio 1 - where they clicked together and were very funny - with some accurate impressions from Chris.

Each to their own, Chris has the same rights as anybody to be on the show. He's doing great things for charity, not an easy task like sitting in a bath of beans.

I like Chris Moyles, he has a lot more character than most DJs and I think this is why his show's popular. It is slightly egotistical at times but still, it's more entertaining than anything else. Also he has mellowed out more these days than he used to be when he first started.
He did come across like a 'rabbit in headlights' slightly last night but some of the comments above do make me worry how high some people's blood pressure gets over the smallest incidents. Maybe the One Show should do some pieces on Anger Management or treatment for stomach ulcers to help some of you out!

What is wrong with everyone? I enjoy watching the One Show and Chris Moyles was fantastic last night, he kept it real. Why aren't you complaining about how miserable Adrian always is? I think you should invite Chris on again! Brilliant, nice refreshing change, oh and whilst you're at it bring back Thatcher!

I have to say how brilliant it was to see Chirs on the one show last night, just makes you realise much more how brilliant and funny he really is. As for all the comments i have read, i have to say, if you listened to his show and follow him you would know he is a very funny, loveable man who is doing a great thing for Comic Relife. Chris wasnt playing by the rules and why should he, he was "invited" to the show, they know what he is like. If anyone was actually paying attention Adrian and Christine (and the studio staff) were laughing. Chris Moyles is a genuinely funny man who brightens many people's mornings, including mine, with his show on radio 1. I personally find it very sad that people feel the need to attack him in such a personal way, just because they did not enjoy his appearance on the one show, or because they do not share the same sense of humour as him... or maybe these people do not have a sense of humour at all?!

I personally enjoyed the show. I never normally watch the show but am a regular listner to Chris's show. Both Adrain and Christine seemed to enjoy the show themselves, and by the all the laughing in the background I assume so did the crew. I think it is so funny that people comment oh Chris without knowing him or regularly listing to his show either. Should I start making judgment or passing personal comments on people who have written things on this board based on me only reading one thing they have said... Seriously alot of you need to think about what you say and how pathetic it all sounds. Fair enough you didnt enjoy the show but some of the things that have been written are out of order. He is doing it for charity, he is doing his part to make the difference. He could sit in his comfortable studio and do nothing... but he is not. Support RND climbing team! Thats what it is all about.

Haven't read it all, but I reckon comment 10 sums it all up... No, he's not a TV natural, but yes he is on radio. Christine gets him and it was great to see the humour and genuine warmth between the 2 of them Here's a clue for you straitlaced, humourless, judgemental types; if she gets him, don't you think there's something to get? I think that Chris Moyles was absolutely great on the One Show - he brought his "Award" winning sense of humour to the show and was fantastic as usual!!!!!

Chris went onto the One Show to promote his trek up MOUNT Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief and all that he has got is a load of grief - I think all that moaned about him should be throughly ashamed of yourselves!!!!

well done Mr Moyles a breath of fresh air promoting something that is a great example to these "do gooders ". They should get off there tight backsides and do something for charity themselves and stop complaining. I have joined bbc blog today to be able to say I loved chris moyles on the one show. He was a breath of fresh air and spoke it as he sees it. More people like him in future please - real people who are loved by many to give them a laugh at his sometimes irreverant comments.

I love his breakfast show and as other listeners would know, he's up for taking the mick out of himself as well as others...he may not always come across well on tv, but the bloke's a real legend. I just went through all the effort of registering with the bbc to make a comment. Chris Moyles is a genius, he manages to make me at LEAST smile, if not, laugh every morning. His interviews with people are brilliant. Infact he deserves his own show. The people who watch the One Show clearly are not part of the 8 million that tune in to hear Chris Moyles for 3 and half hours!! The only reason (and I like the pesenters) I would watch the One Show is if someone I thought was worth seeing is on there. Chris is one of those people. Another reason I love the Jonathan Ross show, which we all know he was slated for a long time. Sometimes in society there is a minority. You are entitled to your view. Why is Chris Moyles an "ill advised" guest on The One Show? Surely 7pm on BBC1 is a family show slot and so should include guests and features sutable for the whole family. As such, having the presenter of BBC Radio 1's breakfast show is an ideal guest?
OK so he may not be to everyone's taste, however the presents clearly found him amusing and entertaining. Personally, I don't enjoy watching Ian McKellen however I'm not going to come onto the blog and slag the poor chat off.
I thought Chris was hilarious! Bearing in mind he was on the show to plug "Comic" Relief, I would have thought the fact that he was funny was a bonus.

I've just watched last nights One Show on iplayer to see what all the fuss was about.
I listen to Chris Moyles every morning and have done for years, so for me he was exactly as he is on his show.
Funny, entertaining, and quite frankly, as a harrassed Mum of 3 school age children, has done wonders for my sense of humour first thing in the morning over the years.
Which is why I listen.
We're all entitled to our own opinion of course, but if something offends you, to the degree that some of these posts have stated, there's this amazing invention called the off switch.
Think you're great Chris (and the team), thank you for making me smile over the last few years.

I do like listening to Chris Moyles' radio show although I do think that his ego is enormous and it's a bit sickening how his crew suck up to him so much, and Sarah Cox is much funnier!
But I found watching him on the One Show uncomfortable, he kept glancing right into the camera then looking away, as if he was checking to see if the camera was on him before he did anything - such a false persona!
He was only interested in talking about anything to do with himself and showed complete lack of intellect by not answering questions about more serious issues such as prisoners wearing bibs. He is rude and insensitive towards other people, for example his former P.E. teacher. He tries so hard to be funny but never quite makes it and instead he just comes across as obnoxious.

For instance old ladies going "I want to see more cash in the attic, why do I have to pay for this rubbish too?" Well here is what I think; Why the hell should I pay for cash in the attic, I hate it. Why should I pay for round the clock news, I only watch it for 30 minutes a day, and so on. It is a bit of give and take people. THINK ABOUT IT.

Whether you like or dislike Chris Moyles you need to remember the reason he was on the show. Raising money for people in Africa and the UK is an amazing thing to do and will help so many people here and in Africa from hardship. How many of you have put your hand in your pocket and helped the Red Nose Appeal? I can confidently say I have, and I congratulate all the celebrities who are taking part in the event this year.
Forget about your opinion of Chris for 5 minutes and just remember the purpose of his appearance on the show.

Moyles is probably the best radio DJ since Kenny Everett back in the 1970s.
Like Everett, this is a guy who isn't afraid to take risks or be outspoken...plus his humour is probably on a much higher level to that of your average 'The One Show' viewer.
I watched last night's 'The One Show' and I thought Moyles was the best guest they've had on. Maybe it's time for him to get his own TV show?

I listen to Chris and his crew every morning and wouldnt listen to anything else. you lot need to get a sense of humour.
Out of everyone involved in raising money for comic relief chris and the others are top people, all their efforts ie: training to climb a mountain, changing their lifestyles all to raise money for the less-fortunate. What are you lot doing? sat on your backsides with nothing better to do other than put someone down.
Unfortunately the one show and any other show will have the odd guest, that maybe not to everyones liking, but face it the shows not made for just yourselves and therefore have other viewers to please too!
I really enjoyed watching Chris on the show and hope to see him when i turn on my tv again at some point.

If I had a choice between chopping my left off and watching The One Show each day then just call me one armed Harry, although my name isn't Harry.
The One Show popularity and figures last night will no doubt prove the odd shaped potato loving squad wrong.
Lets face it folks, Chris Moyles will be entertaining us far longer than The One Show ever will. Oh and I use the term entertaining very loosely.

I also just went to the trouble of signing up to leave a comment on here. I never watch the one show, I think its boring to be honest, clearly like the majority of it's viewers. The best thing about it is the guests, and Chris was great. I listen to his radio show every morning and it always makes me laugh. I am just amazed at the venom by some people who hide behind some odd names and who seem to have nothing better to do than write such things. I have never written any sort of comment before but thanks to these people I have been incensed and perhaps think it is really some Moyles Fans having a laugh. Regardless, I now live in Ireland and listening to Radio 1 and especially the Chris Moyles show gives me so much enjoyment despite being almost 59. Mind you, have you ever heard Irish Radio! Local radio in UK is better

That's some effort for all those posts to be the same person!
The fact is that Chris was talking about his appearance on the show this morning, as he does so many mornings, as I think he is a big fan. Many of his listeners, including me, decided to respond to the comments that are here, and the ones that were so offensive they had been removed! I have just watched the show back on the iplayer, and I really think people have to take a step back and look at the bigger picture - from both sides.
Yes, I can understand how regular viewers wouldn't take to Chris and his ways as they are not familiar with his work. And his loyal supporters would be only too quick to respond to any criticism. But whatever your opinion of him, he has just appeared on a show to promote climbing up a huge mountain for charity. That takes some guts and I say well done to him for that.
I can't believe some people were so offended so soon after he appeared on the screen. Maybe they had formed their opinion of Chris before he had even appeared on the screen...
Ah well, I doubt he'll be going back on for a while, so at least the One Show's audience will be happy again. Until the next guest that is someone they don't like!

As a regular viewer of The One Show, I am extremely angry that I was forced to watch that unfunny Chris Moyles. He annoyed me so much that it ruined my enjoyment of Watchdog at 7.30pm. Had I known this idiot was raising money for Comic Relief, I wouldn't have donated 50p to the cause this year.

Leave Adrian Chiles out of this as well! The One Show is too tightly scripted to allow individuals to shine. He's quite funny on MOTD and on various appearances where he's allowed to express himself.
To be honest I think the whole problem with AC/CM etc on the One Show is that they do not allow time for any proper banter between the guests & hosts - probably because normally the guests are dull. Give the presenters some room to breath and put their personalities across a bit more (and same for the guests) and it would be more entertaining. At present it reads like a mafazine show with very short links between pieces and scripted questions to 'experts'. Where's the fun? It tries to be light hearted but isn't. I guess that's why its audience is so serious.
Listen to Radio 1 where CM has a free reign pretty much, and could spend 10-15 minutes (30 minutes when opening this morning!) chatting and creating a bit of banter within the crew, it's a lot more fun than the One Show will ever be.

I'm a youth worker and a theology student and this is the first time that I commented on here - it will probably be the last, after reading some of the bile on here.
I am a listener of Chris Moyles and I know that he's not everyone's cup of tea, but some of the venom expressed on here just doesn't seem right, and most of it is fueled by predujice and wrong assumptions. Chris Moyles came across as a fan of the show - some one who laughs and delights in the silly quirks of a show, someone who genuinely feels excited to be on the show - him looking around came across as him beinging giddy about being on the show - if he was only looking for the cameras then he would know that the only camera that he appeared on was the one in front of him and he would have stared at that the whole time, rather than look at the presenters or the crew in the background.
I also can not understand the double standards of calling him the most uncharitable man in the world and in the sam breath chastise him for climbing a mountain for charity. It just makes the person making the comment look ridiculous and stupid. I admire people who are will to take the hard option to achieve a task, and I think this is what Chris Moyles is doing - he's trying to overcome a huge challenge for anyone to accomplish, he's doing itfor charity, he's willing to plug it, regardless of the derisive comments that might come his way, and I think that should be admire, rather than him being called repugnant and arrogant
I know that Chris is portrayed as being loud, rude, brash and mean, but on his radio show he comes across as someone who is caring, kind, and even quiet at times - his humour is self-depricating (he doesn't take himself too seriously) and he plays on assumption that people make, which his scoffers would realise if they didn't take everything that he did or said at face value, and if they spend more than 2 minutes listening to him.
If people worked on not being so judgemental all the time, and even trying to see other people's points of view before they express their own then they might see some of the joy, beauty and kindness in the world, rather than trying to drag everyone else down by the vicious words that they use so flippantly!

What makes me laugh as much as anything else is that over the last few months the largest number of comments I can find on The One Show blogs number around 40. Interesteingly, many of those are complaining that the show and the blog are nowhere near as popular as in the past . . . food for thought ??
Contrast that with today, when this blog is at 201 and counting (when I started to type - probably more by now). You might not like him but I can guarantee that the viewing figures have gone up on the show last night, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out they had gone up somewhere near the same amount as the comments on this blog - approximately four, yes FOUR, times as many commenters than normal.
Personally, I compare Chris Moyles to Jose Mourinho - some people love him, some people hate him - but he's guaranteed to pull in the viewers, and more importantly, the publicity.
Here's a bloke who's stepped so far out of his comfort zone it's unimaginable by committing to climb one of the largest mountains in the world in aid of Comic Relief and people are criticising him ??
People die every year on mountains such as Kilimanjaro and Everest, so Chris Moyles, Rachael and other members of the Comic Relief team are, quite literally, risking their lives to raise money for people less privileged than ALL of us (especially children) and you have the poison and bile to criticise the guy just because he offended your middle-england sensibilities by not frothing at the mouth at the thought of steam engines ??
Sometimes, the people in our society make me ashamed to be British. You don't have to like the guy, but log onto his website on the Radio 1 pages and donate money to Comic Relief if you haven't done it already.

this is the first time i have ever wrote on a blog like this, but what im reading im finding hilarious. i am 20 years old and altho not a major fan of the one show i will watch it, and do find it quite entertaining mainly thanks to AC rather than the uptight guests, but when i heard chris moyles would be on i made sure i watched it as i new he would be controversial and get everyone talking. the fact that you all complained that he wasnt serious enough is comical lets be honest who really cares that much about a steam train or what criminals are doing. chris is just your average bloke that has got a lot better things to care about and a lot more fun. plus the star wars quote genius. its refreshing to see someone that says what they want and doesnt care about the consequences of our stupid politically correct country. plus the guy is a legend for what hes doing for comic relief. even tho you have all compained i guarantee one thing it will be the highest viewing figures the one show have had for a very long time!!

over 4.2 million people watch The One Show, however, over 10.87 million listen to radio 1.

Rude, obnoxious, bad manners, boorish behaviour, offensive. Just a few of the phrases that have been used to describe Chris Moyles' appearance on the show.
But can anyone actually come up with any examples to back up these comments?
Many of these were made within seconds of the transmission beginning. I can just imagine all the viewers with their pre-conceived ideas sat at their keyboards waiting to click post instead of actually paying attention to the show.
I can certainly understand Chris not being everyone's cup of tea but isn't the One Show supposed to cater for a multitude of tastes and opinions? The vitriol being spewed on this board is ridiculous.

To invite Chris Moyles onto the one show would suggest that you are also aware of his views of the one show before inviting him onto the show.
Radio 1 listeners are only to aware of Chris' views of the One Show and so would the One Show's producers.
Chris has a sense of humour which is clearly lacking in your viewers, he does not suffer fools easily, Chris will speak his mind which is more than can be said for many, he also has a reputation of speaking the minds of many.
If Chris treats the show with contempt, then I would say that this is more than deserved.
The one show suits a particular audience and the Chris moyles show suits another. I would suggest that the show producers knew what they were doing by putting the two together and i would suggest they have achieved their goal, after all contoversy is a big seller and would boost audience ratings once more.
Not only is Chris Moyles the saviour of Radio 1, he has become the tool of publicity and has become the saviour of the One Show also.
Now that's controversy which the producers would be ashamed to admit, but true all the same, just take a look at the audience ratings for yesterdays show alone and the subsequent online views which will innevitably follow.

I listen to Moyles most mornings, and to be fair, he didn't seem right last night, he just was not as funny as he is on his own show.
That was because he's a radio, not a televison presenter, and he usually feeds off his team and it's the banter between them which brings out his personality.
I fail to see how he can be described as 'foul-mouthed', he went as far as saying the phrase "rabid monster" but I wouldn't describe that as smut.
If wikipedia is to be believed, Moyles is paid around 6-700k a year. Exorbitant, perhaps, but nowhere near as much as £18m Jonathan Ross. Moyles works a lot harder than Ross does and regularly gets 7m listeners every morning, which is quite impressive.
I'd say, correct me if I'm wrong, that there's at least 20 million license fees paid annually, if it really matters that much to you, I'm sure you can campaign to the BBC to get your 30 pence back...

I think that elements of both sides of this argument are letting themselves down. I listen to Chris occasionally and sometimes he is funny and sometimes he is not. I don't think he is that accomplished on TV, and that he did not do himself any favours last night, but to attract the vitriolic comments is frankly quite amazing. To wish misfortune and death on another person is a little extreme, especially to someone who has not done anything to you personally, it seems to me that there are better things to focus on. Equally do all people who don't like Chris lacking in sense of humour - no just different humour, I think its alright not to like him. He is doing a great thing, and incredibly brave thing, which I wouldn't be able to do and whether you like him or not it is that which is most important. Nobody has to like him because of this, and I don't think anyone is asking you to, but respect the action even if you don't respect the man.
I think society is in a sad state indeed when people cannot express difference of opinion without resorting to calling those that disagree names or being offensive.

I have to congratulate the one show as last night they have again shown that they are indeed a fun-loving and comedic bunch.
The show including Chris Moyles was excellent and perhaps one of the most liberating shows I have seen on TV for a long while. In this depressing age of increasing care that is being taken to shield us from any irregularity or insult, it is exciting to watch an individual show his true colours.
I understand why some individuals may not have enjoyed Chris' behaviour last night, however, he is just being himself. He doesn't put himself out there to be something that he is not.
You could tell that he was genuinely excited to be on The One Show. If you consider the laughs that were coming from Adrian, Christine, and the crew, you could tell that they were having fun. For those that have complained, I ask the question to you, why does other people having fun upset you so? Sure, it may not be your cup of tea but a vast majority loved it. I've also noticed that a few of these emails are personally insulting to Chris, which just shows the mindset of those individuals.
Thank you to The One Show and Chris Moyles for an excellent show. Good luck to Chris, Rachel and the other Celebrities for undertaking such a massive event for charity.

I had not posted a blog/comment on any website until today and I have now assured myself that I never will again.
After reading everyone’s comments this seems to have turned into the most childish and pathetic argument I think I have ever seen. If supercilious bragging about educational prowess and sneering at typos or grammatical errors fill too much of your time I urge you to use that time more productively and do something yourself for charity.
My children could hold a more insightful debate on the subject of last nights show.
Some people enjoyed it, some people didn’t. That is fine and I would be very worried if everyone had agreed on the subject. However it seems that the knives were out before any words were even spoken looking at the time some comments were posted.
Chris Moyle’s appearance was for one purpose only, to promote Comic Relief. Not to promote a book or cd which is normally the case for this type of show.
Just a couple of thoughts on the subject of celebrity’s and charity’s. If you did not like the show last night because of Chris Moyles would that deter you from donating to Comic Relief? Would avid Radio 2 Terry Wogan fans only donate to Children in Need because he is more pc?

I think that there are some very narrow minded views on here, and communication is about the ability to get your point across. Whether you are able to punctuate effectively, spell correctly, grammatically construct your sentences concisely, or converse with eloquence is irrelevant if you are able to make yourself understood. A person's whose command of the English language is better or worse than mine does not give them more or less right than me to express their opinions, the only people I have issue with are those who deliberately seek to offend or insult.
There may be people posting who may not have English as their first language or were unable to finish their schooling, this does not mean that their opinion is any less relevant than someone who knows where to put an apostrophe!

I listen to Chris each day on my way into work with my two daughters aged 13 & 14 we love his satire and wit and that of all the team they make the 15 mile journey more enjoyable. We all watched the show last night and thoroughly enjoyed it as he was hilarious. He is a very shy man believe it or not and if you listened to him does not like being the centre of attention and regularly comments on how the WHOLE team on the breakfast show bring something special. I think that it is disgusting and rude that people have commented as they have because to climb a mountain and PERSONALLY raise in excess of £140k by sheer popularity is no mean feat.

This blog is applicable to the Chris Moyles performance on The One Show and not Radio 1.
Moyles has organised all his radio 1 supporters to post on this blog in his favour although many of them did not even watch The One Show last night.
Moyles obviously sees his future career in TV and the TV license payers who watch The One Show on a regular basis are making it known on this blog that he is not the cutting edge of TV entertainment for the future.

Chris Moyles just brought his own sense of humour to the show.
It may not be everyone's sense of humour, but that's the point of The One Show, there's something for everyone and there'll be plenty of other guests over the next few weeks, for you all to complain about.
He was invited onto the show to promote and talk about Comic Relief, which is exactly what he did.
I don't actually see the problem.
I can only assume, those who are getting so het up over his appearance on the show, have nothing more important to worry about in life.

Making comparisons to the Armenian Massacre and Hitler is not effective debating. You're making hyperbolic comparisons which generally negate any point you're trying to put across and convey an immature attitude.
It's a nice trolling run though, is this a new record for you or have you managed to troll an internet messageboard for longer previously? I have to congratulate you on your perseverence, some would think that you're unemployed and have notihng more productive to do going by the number of comments you've been able to make.
Personally I am of the opinion that you are somewhat lacking in social skills and come on here to try and draw attention to yourself as a perverse form of self gratification. I was a bit dispapointed with the show. Chris was clearly on his best behavior. He was funny and he was the best part of the show and clearly he had been told not to misbehave which is a shame cause it would of made the show so much better. And for all you people moaning about him being on the show you need to get a grip of your lifes actually more like you need to get a life if you do not think this guy is quality. I don't really watch this show because as chris was saying they talk about slippers, but i watched it yesturday because he was on there. You can not start work without having a bit of radio one in the morning its just no right. I listened to chris this morning reading these comments out and it was brilliant and i agree Chris should make regular appearances on the show to liven it up. He was trying to raise awareness for the climb for Comic Relief. As for those comments about him being the most uncharitable man, have you raised over £1 million recently?
If we always had to watch guests who pleased everyone then where would the diversity be? Some of the guest on the show actually make me cringe, especially when they are asked to comment on some of the weirdest of topics!

I am a fan of chris moyles so this may come across as 1sided but if i thought chris deserved this negative feed back then i would not be doing this blog.I have spent an houre trying to signe in and had 2 have the help of my wife 2do so.I saw the show on the i player as i heared chris this morn going on about the reaction 2him bieng on the show and wondered what he had done.On watching i could only c the presenters aving fun hearing the crew laughing and chris doing what chris allways does aving fun.This is a guy who has stoped drinking alcohol and has been exersizing so as to raise money's 4charity.He is by his own admission fat and has lost lots of fat by training 4the said charity.I hav heard him reading text on his show where some idiots say that he should stop going on about his climb as he is bieng paid 2 do so[pathetic].Even if he is bieng paid he is raising loads 4thoes who need it,if you look what,s been raised so far and c who raised it you will c that it is radio 1 listners 2 chris and fern who ave put most of cash in.The reaction 2 chris is coming from people who simply don like him.They could bearly contain them selvs before tho 1show started as the timing of the 1st blog shows.Chris has had a slating from the press asking him and others on the climb how far he will go be4 he quits.Even with this negative reaction he is still doing his best 4the charity and shoul be comended 4the effort and sacrifice he is making.The people who dont lik him should switch off and should feel sorry 4them selvs as theyr reaction 2 chris is samefull and child like. The One show is awful. Who invites celeb guests on and then talks to other people about subjects that have nothing whatsoever to do with their celeb guest?! Stupidity.
As for the people who have critised Chris, not everyone has to like everyone else - but lighten up ! Get yourselves a sense of humour. I saw nothing that was rude or obnoxious. Why the need to be so harsh?

Chris Moyles got it absolutely right last night when he said that Adrian Chiles looked like he could not wait to get out of the studio.
I have felt compelled to watch the ONE SHOW each night as an ongoing study in discomfort and nervousness clearly displayed by Adrian - it's quite clear that he doesn't enjoy hosting the programme so I guess that he's only doing it for the money. Let the other presenters take over - bring Carol back and Phi Tuffnel and let them do it. The show would be far better.

I have just registered after listening to Chris this morning, I have never watched the one show. I just think you all need to get a life, sitting on your asses watching tv all night and then complaining about a guy who is climbing one of the largest mountains in the WORLD for Charity is pretty sick. I have been to Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro, until you get off your buts and see it for yourself and stop going on holidays to your cushy little all inclusive complexes, you will not realize the level of poverty these people live in. I am only 24 but have been lucky enough to travel allot with my family I am truly shocked that you have nothing better to do than comment on a decent guy why is doing his bit for charity.
I have to say I would not climb up there and I train with the British ski team!

Hello! I watched the One Show with Chris Moyles yesterday and found it hilarious. Lets not beat around the bush, the features were rubbish.
* A story about the Community Service vests which was a story covered by the media almost two monts ago.
* A story about a 25mph steam train.
* A story about music that motivates you whilst working out. I didn't learn anything from that feature other than, surprise surprise, the Rocky theme tune was ranked highest in terms of inspiration. (Incidently, the features were a lot better today and were more relevent)
Chris added comedy to these rather tedious stories. He did say on his show yesterday morning that he was aiming to be enthusiastic. I would also like to point out to one wrong poster (I have no idea who this was, sorry) who claims that Moyles knew that the P.E teacher was his at school by his facial expression. His face is of mock interest as the entire feature was like going through a babies nappy.
Moyles is a refined taste. I am guessing that many of the viewers of the One Show are older and (many- I'm not trying to start a class war here) come from a different social background than those of Radio 1. I hate most things on the BBC. There is nothing for teenagers/young adults and Moyles is one of the rare BBC things that does. Channel Four gets the right balance with More4 and E4 gearing towards different viewers. BBC1, 2 and 4 are geared toward the older generation (with the exception of Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Heroes amongst others) with BBC3 giving comedy for late twenties not early twentys.
I digress.
When Moyles came on the One Show he managed to get a good few million extra viewers watching and spread the show through the 16-29 age range. Lets not forget that Moyles was also promoting the Red Nose Climb, a subject he is really enthusiastic about and trains hard for. I would like to know how many of us (me included) would be willing to do what he is doing.
Give him a break and grow up. And don't judge him on what equated to ten minutes of footage in an unfamiliar environment and a show hes never been on.
8 Million people can't be wrong. I basically pay my T.V liscence for him but I hate paying for Eastenders, Jeremy Vine and Jeremy Paxman (maybe its just the name Jeremy)

You know, I heard Chris talking about this blog this morning, whilst on my way to work. Being curious, I've just been onto iplayer and watched the show from yesterday. I must say, i'm astonished that he's caused so many people to be so bitter and twisted. Personally, I found him very entertaining and clearly, by the amount of laughter that I heard in the studio, so did most of those who were present - after all, this isn't the type of show that will pipe in the laughter.
Those who berate Chris clearly can't take the fact that the one show has done what they do best - they've invited a guest who will appeal to a cross section of the audience. Personally, I'm not over keen on Patrick Steward (who was on today) but i'm not going to start some huge rant about it.
Clearly the people who are going to such lengths as to type something with so much loathing, have the issue and not Chris Moyles.

Haven't watched the one show since the Carol fiasco. From what I read here I haven't missed anything. Edwina now eh!! Wonder how long it will be before we hearing about her making a goof and getting the sack....... Sound like it was rather a shame they couldn't have got Chris Moyles on the same show with Jo Brand, perhaps she would have left poor Carol alone then.

Lilywales I guess you grew up with the development of the wheel and therefore have no idea what the youngster of today like.
Heres a taster of what the younger generation have to put up with:
* The older generation telling them that exams are easy when in fact they are flipping not. When they get three A's the exams are considered easy and if they fail the students are considered stupid.
* Having to pay up to £4,500 tuition fees at uni when the governemnt didn't pay a penny. They are then considered 'lazy' despite having to accomplish a mountain of work in a small space of time.
Thats just two. There are many many more.
Needless to say, young people need a break now and again. And I know, people reading this probably think that all young people carry knifes, graffiti, wear hoodys, play loud music at 3am, litter, get drunk every night, skive off school, drive like a madman and get pregnant at the age of fifteen but that is like saying all the elder generation sit at home moaning about young people, occasionally wondering outside to get in a car and moan about the price of biscuits in the local Co-op. Its prejudice.
I may have taken your point out of context. If thats so I'm sorry but I'm sick of people thinking that all of the youngsters of today are good for nothings who cause trouble.
Chris Moyles has nothing to do with the attitude of youngsters today. Nor is the Daily Mail reflective of the elderly.

BUT! with The One Shows obligation to help out with care in the community, they were probably obliged to allow the odd poor soul into the studio to make a--contribution? Chris Moyles is brilliant - he primed his audience to watch, gave the performance that was expected, and no doubt massively boosted the One Show ratings. I watched it and enjoyed it for the first time.
I listened to his radio show today and agree with his crew - the vitriol expressed on the One Show blog is shocking. I thought it was video nasties that were supposed to have a bad effect on viewers, not pieces on steam trains!!!

To appreciate why the Chris Moyles show on Radio 1 is the most entertaining thing the BBC does, you have to be under 35 and listen to it every day, else you end up with many of the ill informed comments on this forum. To lazily stereotype him a foul mouthed idiot, means you don't get the show or you read his comments out of context in the papers.
I can't stand Last Of The Summer Wine but I appreciate on some level that older viewers like it. People under 35 equally pay the licence fee and are entitled to something. If you don't like it, the BBC does a mulitude of other things.
Chris was perfectly fine on The One Show, promoting good charitable work and if you only allow boring, predictable guests on the show,then you end up with a boring, predictable show.

Moyles is a Legend. Listen to his show and learn about how the new leaner meaner integrated BBC is pulling all its material together and creating one large 'family' of presenters. The whole show was one large set of links between his show, Comic Relief and the One Show. If you didn't get it, it just means you didn't see the whole picture. head over to iPlayer.
As for his brand of humour.. If you don't get it, then you don't get it. there's 8 million other people out there who do, so just put your slippers on, switch over to BBC News 24 or Radio 3 where it's nice and safe and wait for the One Show to wheel out another staid pin-striped Celeb to be rolled out to plug their book or something, rather than a funny down-to-earth well-loved celeb who's actually /got/ a personality, and is willing to seriously pull the stops out to help others.

I only watch the One Show if someone I like is on. I watched it Monday and thought it was one of the best.

I watched Mr Moyles on The One Show, and what i don't understand how he can be described as 'legendary', 'brilliant' or a 'genius'. If people use these superlatives to describe someone who excels in making jokes about obvious targets with little or no engagement of his intellect or imagination, how would they describe the comedy of the Marx Brothers, Monty Python, Round The Horne, Ricky Gervaise etc?

Next time Christine Bleakley is on The Chris Moyles Show I think I'll complain!!! From what I can tell Chris didn't *do* anything bad on the show, he just shows up and you sad people complain!!!!
I don't watch The One Show, however I have seen Mondays show, nobody's forcing you lot to listen to Chris on the Radio he was just getting some well deserved publicity for a good cause.

Chris is lucky to have the time to do his bit for charity as the Mum of 2 boys & a full-time job I have to make do with pledging cash whilst watching Red Nose Day on the TV.

This isn't even an argument or comment on the show. We could say the same thing about any celebrity.
I'm sure Chris Moyles is well aware of how lucky he is to have a job he loves so much, that pays a decent wage.
At the end of the day, he wasn't rude or obnoxious on The One Show, he didn't hurt anyone and all the above venemous messages are totally uncalled for.
Hatred, jealousy, anger etc.... these are not attractive traits in a person

The One Show usually gets an audience of 4.7 million each night, Chris Moyles brought an audience of 5.5Million!
(Morrissey only brought in 4.9 million)
Assuming that those of you that said you turned off, actually tuned out than that's even more extra viewers he must have attracted.
The opinions on this blog seem pretty mixed, however taking into account that people are far more likely to complain than praise, then it's probably safe to say that those viewers that thought having Chris Moyles on the show was a bad idea are probably in a minority.
If you were offended by Moyles' presence on the show, feel free to write to the Daily Mail about it. That's what you folks normally do isn't it?

Perhaps the people complaining about Chris should actually take a little time to listen to his morning radio show and then you may understand his humour.
I drive along in my car every morning with a stupid grin on my face or even better laughing my head off and as I pass other cars I see loads of people doing EXACTLY the same thing!
If you were a listerner of his radio show you would know that there is an ongoing banter between the one show and his radio one show, and everything he said and did on monday night was done tongue in cheek and thats the reason Adrian and Christine and the whole crew behind the cameras were laughing out loud.
He brightened up what is usually a show thats on "in the background"

Yes I like chris I think he is brilliant and has a great sence of humour.
Having seen the one show I thought he came across brilliantly but if you didn't like it why watch it and leave harsh bullying comments.

Just because Chris Moyles was promoting charity does not excuse his appalling behaviour on the show. He obviously thinks he is hilarious however, I thought he was arrogant, unfunny and a total bore. He contributed nothing interesting.

I think most of these comments are from people who simply don't 'get' Chris Moyles. If you listened to him often you'd get to know what he's about.
I for one LOVED the show, best show yet for me! It was hilarious, I've already watched it again about 3 times on Iplayer.

In addition, the 1st part of the story was basically on Chris Moyles' morning show when Christine came in. With the 2nd part being on "The one show" when Chris came in.
If you only saw the 2nd part, and hadn't ever previously listened to Chris Moyles, I can see why some people didn't get any of his jokes.
His performance was very 'tongue in cheek' and it involved many on-going jokes, many non-Moyles fans must have been ever so slightly confused by him.

Chris was great on the show on Monday, obviously the average 100 year olds who normally watch this show have lost all sense of humour!

I think that all of this is hilarious. The fact is 'The One Show' is just a light hearted bit of entertainment for people to enjoy. Chris Moyles is a fantastic DJ and a great entertainer. He doesn't deserve any of the negative comments written on here at all!
I strongley suspect everyone that has written bad comments is far to highly strung to understand his talent. I would say that the problem lies which the majority of the audience than the guest.
If you can't open your minds to a diverse range of guests on your show, then really you all only have yourselves to blame.

Fair play to Chris and to the rest of the people attempting the Kilimanjaro. I hope Chris makes it to the top - he has been training really hard, lost a lot of weight and as the passion and desire to get to the top of the mountain AND raise money for charity in the meantime.
I cant believe how rude some of the one show viewers are about him - would you risk your life for charity? Will you even donate to Comic Relief? If you do not like what is on the tv switch over there are plenty of other channels.

After reading all the first comments, I feel should have my say, as they are all so negative to chris moyles!!
I am 18 and i wake up every morning listening to him, and he is hillarious, ok he can be a bit rude at some points but it is all harmless. The day that this was on tv Christine was on his show and they had a proper laugh and the banter between them was hillarious!! How can you judge him if you dony listen to him??!!
Many of the comments on here are forgetting why he was actually on the show, to raise money for comic releif!! It is an fantastic thing that him and all the other celebrities are doing, I dont undersatnd why you are all so negative as he is taking it very seriously and i wish him all the best up there and to prove that he can do it by reaching the top!!

Seriously people on here need to grow up! Typical British, always the first to complain, never praise! I watch the One Show most days and I listen to Chris Moyles on the radio (if I can get up!) as well and I thought the show on monday was really funny.
Chris is not the most comfortable on TV, which is why his show on CH5 years ago failed, but he still went on the One show even though he said himself on his show that he was really nervous. Admittedly there were a few in-jokes that some viewers didn't get but that was Chris trying to get rid of his nervousness and get back to what he is familiar with. People who are modern and up to speed with popular culture will know that honest and controversial humour is what people want nowadays ie. Russell Brand, Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle etc. Chris isn't even controversial, just a genuine guy off the street who says what he thinks and what most of the country thinks and the world would be a much easier place with people like him around. He has worked ridiculous hard in all aspects of his life to get where he is today, and although I'm sure he will be the first to admit that he is really lucky to be where he is, he deserves it!
Glad to see someone using his/her fame towards a good cause. Good luck to you Chris and your climb!

Why are so many people knocking Chris Moyles?
I don't see Adrian Chiles training to do this climb for charity.
Chris has a very specific sense of humour, but EIGHT MILLION people find him funny... and yes, our license fee pays for him, and it's money well spent!!
Not many people would get up that early to entertain the nation... even Chris Evans was sacked because he couldn't handle 5 early days a week.
Moyles not only makes millions of people laugh daily, but he has given up his own time to give to charity... and has actually sponsored himself more than once to do this climb... he is leaving his friends and family for over a week and has been training his ass off just to help people less priviledged.
It's the same Daily Mail readers complaining about Chris that complained about Mr. Ross.... get a grip, they are the most talented people the BBC has produced in far too long, and they give back to charities far too often.... to all those moaners, grab your remote control and turn to ITV and watch other like-minded moaners on Coronation St.

I hope all the whinging, moaning correspondents watched the BBC show last night documenting the climb. Chris was instrumental in maintaining the morale of the team and encouraging the other members.
The fact that this climb required major personal commitment, and was not just a cheap publicity stunt (for Red Nose Day or the particpants themselves) is demonstrated by the fact that the Prime Minister has agreed to match the funds raised.
The complainers should put their hands in their pockets rather than their noses in the air.
