What did you think of the show? (30/01/09)

Host_Ryan - One Show team | 14:14 UK time, Friday, 30 January 2009

Tonight's guest was award winning comedian Lee Mack.

With youth crime on the rise, we sent Rav Wilding to meet Chris Streeks. Chris has been through the prison system and turned his life around. How should we deal with young offenders?

January 31st marked the anniversary of what's often described as the worst peacetime disaster to hit the UK. Neil Oliver looked back at the 1953 East Coast Floods.

Lucy Siegle investigated credit card cheques. They can be expensive. More information here.

And in the final film looking at your town's claim to fame, Angellica Bell visited Stalybridge in the North West of England.

Have a lovely weekend!

where was the metion of "parents" when it came to youth crime? Not even a referral. Notable Government first. Aren't they easy to blame for everything?

Shred those credit card cheques!! Please - showing Lucy simply ripping them up and dropping them in the recycling bin borders on irresponsible.

I am sorry to hear of Christine's relationship breakdown, but it enrages me about how the gutter press have portrayed it.
They have no care for either Christines' or her fan's feelings.
I really admire Christine's resolve and her proffessionalism by continuing with the show yesterday, even though she must have been really upset.
Take care Christine, we love you!

In tonights show Lucy helpfully suggested making use of 0% transfers offered by amongst other Tesco. She failed to mention that they would take a 2.9% transfer fee. YES it could turn oot a good move but you reallt should tell the WHOLE STORY.

I wish the press would stop poking their noses into peoples private affairs, there is a lot going on in the world today that they could report on, they don't need to pry into Christine's personal life, or anyone else's for that matter, Christine is a lovely girl, and I'm sure all the viewers wish her all the very best in the future, Vi Northumberland.

Er, don't want to be rude to Orwell (see above) but David Attenborough wasn't actually on tonight's show! Never mind, we agree with his comments anyway.

I also second ditzyangeluk's views about so called funny man Lee Mack. What a bore he was as well as being rude and up himself. If he didn't want to enter into the spirit of the show or respond to Adrian's jovial banter why did he come on at all? He looked and sounded like someone who didn't want to be at the party. Fine. Next time Mr Mack, don't bother turning up. You're not that funny ...... or at all funny ... anyway. Well done to Adrian and Christine for refusing to let him get on your nerves. At least, on air.

I have to ask who advises Christine about her dress sense, which is terrible. And how come she now has a permanent tan?

I am sure she is a nice person, but she really annoys me with her hand gestures, and her mouth, which seems to be constantly in a mmmmmmmmmm way.

    Sorry, not the best of.

I cannot understand why the One Show brings on celebrities to be subjected to mundane issues which they are obviously not interested in, and have only have a few minutes air time.

Why do the BBC do this? I feel embarresed for the guests.

Saw Fridays show and the apostrophe row.

    You highlighted Nurses' being wrong.

The position of the apostrophe depends on whether it is a plural or not. IE The Boys' Brigade, is the brigade of all the boys, where as The Boy's Brigade is the brigade of one boy.

As always it's pleasure to see Adrian and Christine, they've really become part of the family! In fact the One Show is one of the few progs I make the effort to watch on a regular basis these days! However I was disgusted with the attitude of guest Lee Mack. I've been a big fan of his for a long time..well up to now anyway! I don't know why he had to play the part of the gritty northerner with a chip on his shoulder. He came across as rude and arrogant! He looked like he really didn't want to be there, he doesn't mind coming on the show to promote his new series and latest DVD so he should be able to join in with a bit of light hearted harmless banter! As always Adrian and Christine, the true professionals that they are, kept things running smoothly.
Anyway Adrian and Christine well done! I hope that little git Mack didn't get you down!

Also, whilst I am on, could you consider starting a campaign for that fantastic '60s comedy "The Dustbin Men" to be repeated? Marvellous stuff!

now, now, you're picking on her. if you don't like her as a presenter then that's fine but, in my opinion, there's no need to jab the knife at any physical faults she has.

Are you seriously going to stop using a presenter, just because of an allegedly racist comment made NOT EVEN ON AIR?

So much for 'celebrating the best'... this is just plain stupid.

It wasn't said on air. Nobody could have been offended unless they were in the room at the time.

So, I suggest you sack the silly twerp who brought a private remark to the public's attention, thereby ensuring that lots of people now DO have the chance to feel offended.

I'm not a massive fan of the presenter involved... but this sort of caving-in really worries me.

You bin Carole... and I'll have to bin the One Show.

For making a remark during a private conversation in a private room, Carole Thatcher gets sacked.

Somone at The One Show needs to get a life!

Gutless management leads to stupid outcomes like this. If some delicate little flower was offended by her remarks, surely it could have been dealt with in house, and not so publicly.
Unless of course this person held a personal grudge against Ms Thatcher, and wanted her publicly outted?

Just because people don't make comments like Ms Thatcher did anymore, it doesn't mean they're not thinking them. She was problably not the only one in that room who thought her remark was funny.

I bet future conversations in the green room will be a right bag of laughs now that everyone knows big brother is listening.
