What did you think of the show? (27/01/09)
Ready? Steady? Look! Chef Ainsley Harriot was tonight's guest.
Clare Balding looked at food allergies. Have we all become too fussy about food?
Lucy Siegle investigated how mobile phone contracts can impact upon your credit rating.
Hardeep Singh Kohli jogged memories of the Soda Stream.
And finally Carol Thatcher travelled to County Durham on the trail of an unlikely footballing triumph in the first World Cup. Tell us your town's claim to fame, and send in a photo.
Also: Millions of men carry a man bag? Adrian doesn't believe it and would like to see the proof. Send your pics in here.

That was a very biased section towards people with food intolerances. Just because medically there is no test that can diagnose or treat this than it doesnt mean people dont have problems. In my case i dont get a little bloated but actually my stomach becomes huge and sometimes pushes on my diagragm and makes my breathing very uncomfortable. It also keeps me awake at night with pain and stomach problems.
I have better things to do than worry about food therefore if there wasn't a problem i would eat normally. Next time please don't call me a fake and say on national television that i am making up symptoms orcopying others. I do get really fed up with that attitude.

Hi - I'm concerned with a couple of reports - the one on detoxing and tonights on food allergies/intolerances. I have a longterm autoimmune illness which is directly and negatively affected by numerous foods to which I am "sensitive" or "intolerant" - I'm not coeliac - but wheat and gluten can bring on symptoms, cause real problems and an overall deterioration in my health. This is the same for MANY people - yet you have generalsied (as in the detox item) and promoted the conclusion that these ideas are nonsense and useless and anyone having a system which has problems processing certain foods is a hypochondriac. There was no clear explanation of why food allergies/sensitivities/intolerances can impact on our health.
- As I do not hear any truly informed advocate of holistic healing giving their opinion I think the programme should refrain from offering advice on these matters if you can't be unbiased and informed. I understand that the prog does not have time for in depth items - so please don't give brief advice if it's going to be BAD advice

What about sherbet fountain? Great then, but now the liquorice stick is so inconsistent!!! Yesterday a stick that was so floppy you couldn't lift up the shertbet and today a stick so short and fat it barely stuck out the top. Please can we have a plea to the manufacturers to get it right. It always used be be the same size and thickness. What has happened? Yes I do eat that many of them!! Occasionally switching to bassetts hard liquorice stick. Come on Hardeep fight for a quaility Sherbet Fountain.

I do beleive that West Auckland won the first Club World Championships not the World Cup. They will of won the same competion that Manchester United won early this season.
They couldn't of won the World Cup because only countries take part and as far as i know Juventus idn't a country.
Apart from this it was a very enjoyable so to watch.

I just wanted to say that I enjoy my sodastream on a regular basis and find it better than buying coke or pepsi because I make it as I need it using whatever flavour I fancy and I can keep a small amount in the fridge cold and still have room for food.

Hello,
Great show as usual, just thought I would let you know how great Soda stream really is. When I was a child my friend had a Soda stream machine it took pride of place on their kitchen work top, it was only ever used as a treat of which I was privileged on several occasions. My whole life I wanted one and for Christmas I got one. Its great, instant carbonated water, you get two bottles with it and I take it everywhere, a much healthier option to some fizzy drinks and the flavors are sugar free. Happy fizzing

In the early 1980s, a workmate of mine came back from Spain, she said all the Spanish boy's had man bag's, the reason being their trousers were so tight, there was no way they could get a wallet in their pockets, there's nothing new in the world, is there? Vi.

Thank you for you report on allergies and intolerances. I have suffered anaphylacitc shock to nuts all my life and am frustrated by many who seem to want to have the same afflication as me. Why anyone would want it is beyond me and if I could give it away I would in an instant.
Although I had suffered this from childhood it took until I was 34 to be given a referral to be tested to 'prove' which nuts were the most serious threat to my life. This was an NHS allergy test so I am in no doubt as to its findings which were dramatic and conclusive.
Thank you for discussing this new phenonema of 'faux allergy suffering'. If the public are not made more aware about this then we will all just deemed 'fussy eaters' as I was for many years.

Regarding your article on Soda Stream.
There's no better carbonated soft drink than a 1 Litre Glass Returnable Bottle. The good old fashioned ones that you pay a deposit on the bottle and return to the chip shop for a bag of chips!! Still available from Purity Soft Drinks under the 'Masons' label ( ex Smethwick) in 24 flavours inc Dandelion & Burdock, Cream Soda, Ginger Beer, Jafto, Super Jaff, Shandy etc. etc.
Boing, Boing - Adrian, I'm suicidal after the 0-5 drubbing by Man Utd!!

Another great show.
The only disappointment was Christine wearing trousers instead of a skirt.

Grow up BBC! Obviously you cannot tell the difference between racism and affectionate fun or a joke. Has anyone never had a bit of fun with you? I am sorry for you ..well maybe not, you wouldn't understand it!
Can't you tell the difference between Ross/ Brands nasty and offensive behaviour and Carol's comment? Has anyone asked the tennis player what he thinks? Maybe its TRUE that a picture on a jar looks like him...so what?
Get a life BBC!
Hey ho ...I think you will lose a lot of viewers/ friends over this!

The reports that Chiles and Brand were involved in 'a run to teacher' operation against Carol Thatcher is utterly sickening. They may have thought they were going to receive 'brownie points' from the BBC 'Thought Police'. However they have ended up creating more problems than they think they are solving; by being instrumental in the publicity which otherwise would offended only two people against the possibly of thousands or more. This must put into question Chiles and Brand's sincerity and motives. Further they have fostered what must be an increased big brother environment within the walls of the BBC. I cannot reconcile the fact that a Mr J Ross can do what he did in public and keep his job, yet Carol Thatcher can make a remark in private and then be subject to the BBC taking platitudes against her, demanding an apology and so it seems withdrawing her from any employ. In any event if I see Chiles or Brand on my screen again they will be swiftly removed.

Chiles and Hunt are really pathetically correct. Who are they to judge what the public want? Carole Thatcher is a VERY good braodcaster. Who voted for Chiles and Hunt to judge the feelings of the country? -- If they went and asked the real people on the streets outside central London and not just their equally pathetic bag carriers they would know that THEY are out of step with public feeling. I used to like Chiles on his lunch time programme but will not ever watch any of his shows again because he is spineless.
The BBC was once a fine organisation before being taken over by foolish zealots.
