What did you think of the show? (22/01/09)

Host_Ryan - One Show team | 18:35 UK time, Thursday, 22 January 2009

James McAvoy in the studioJames McAvoy, Golden Globe nominee and Bafta winning actor, was tonight's guest.

Paddy O'Connell reported on bailiffs and the powers they hold. More information - useful links here.

James McAvoy in the studioKirsten O'Brien surveyed a nation of swearers. Do we really swear so much? Is swearing still offensive?

Charles Kennedy attended a Burns night celebration and found out more about the famous poet and the traditions expressed in his verse.

And finally, Michael Mosley went brain training. Test your reactions with our Sheep Dash game - and don't forget to tell us your score.

After the show James and Adrian played another match (pictured right) of the studio's mind game. Adrian won again. He is, almost-nearly-officially, a champion at relaxing.

When was the Charles Kennedy piece filmed and on what? 1985 on a Super 8?

Out of focus, over saturated - and that's only Charles.....

re interview with James McAvoy, Adrien Chiles comment about swearing "is that the Glaswegian in you?" is offensive and potentially discriminatory.
Would he have been as free with his comments if it had been a conversation about ethnic minotities?

Absolutely love your show, has everything and a great sense of humour.
Normally I feel your reports are balanced, but tonight not so the item on bailiffs, which has made me quite cross. I, as much as anyone, have great sympathy for those who are struggling financially, but let's not forget those small businesses and the self employed who have provided a service in good faith, maybe even at a financial cost to themselves, who seem to have few rights when it comes to being paid. The only course of action after winning county court judgements, is to call on the services of a bailiff, and even then it may not work!

What an antiquated view of Burns. Where was the modern reworking of the poems and songs on show in Glasgow this month? Where was the insight into the Homecoming events around the anniversary? And most importantly why can't Charles Kennedy pronounce "Syne" properly?

Burns is Scotland's second greatest poet.

The true Bard of Scotland is obviously William Topaz McGonagall.

Each 28th December every true Scot (and other lovers of poetry) should recite The Tay Bridge Disaster while holding a Hornby model locomotive.
