What did you think of the show? (18/12/08)
Star of stage and screen Sir Ian McKellen joined Adrian and Christine on the sofa.
The summer of 2007 was one of the wettest on record. Floods devastated homes across the UK. Eighteen months on, many people are facing a second Christmas in a caravan or temporary housing. Justin Rowlatt paid a few of them a visit.
The One Show's Carol Thatcher fulfilled a life-long dream, appearing as the back end of a pantomime cow at a performace in Stevenage.
The Brussels sprout is traditional Christmas veg. Not keen? You may be a supertaster. Michael Mosley told us more. Can sprouts ever taste good? Your advice, please.
And Hardeep Singh-Koli was on hand to guide us men through the Christmas lingerie purchase.
Also: We'd like your pictures of your Christmas lights. Send them in to our gallery here, please.

The topics of brussel sprouts and mens underwear? perhaps the one show can come up with a new invention... mens undercrackers which deal with the after affects of sprouts ;-)

Why is Christine morphing into one of the Cheeky Girls? Sort it out luv (not sure that's the right look to go for)

Please ask Adrian to stick to the script!
He has the most annoying habit of repeating sentences or even short questions such as "I wonder if, I wonder if,I wonder if".
Then I will forgive his footie bias towards the ah, the ah, the ah, baggies.

Flooding....Climate Change and / or Global Warming is always blamed. Having lived in the countryside for long enough to earn a state pension I can suggest an alternative cause. Drainage - well actually NO drainage. There was a time whan farmers, landowners, local authorities and Thames Water (prior to privatisation in 1989) cleared and maintained ditches, brooks, streams and other surface water drainage facilities. Today they don't and blame the ensuing flooding on Climate Change.
That's total rubbish. It's a problem that can be readily solved by JCB's and shovels.

What is it with the dumming down of the BBC?
How Deep Sings Cauliflower (he'd be proud of the puns) who is normally precise can join the rest of the plebs I do not know. Everyone west of France seems to have joined the same Morons Party. It's particularly bad in America.
What is it with LONJERAY?
It's a French word pronounced LANJEREE.
Buck up.

Surprised no one's mentioned Sir Ian using the word Sh*t - my 7 year old certainly did !
Adrian and Christine didn't seem to know where to look for a minute or so afterwards.

The shows are good entertainment and the presenters really compliment each other but please do something about the awful music at the start. If we don't get to the mute button in time it takes half the prog for our old ears to stop ringing.
Please get something more soothing for next year.
As for Sir Ians comment, I think it just slipped out -oops.

Ah now that McKellen chap is properly nice and a proper celebrity: no airs and graces and no smugness - unlike a certain pompous guest last night.
No. 2, you're out of order! I loved sparkly Christine. What was blooming awful was Adrian trying to pronounce 'Brassicas' - it actually does sound like it's spelt and only he could make it sound like something totally different.

No. 7 what a classic! Quote: "What is it with the dumming down of the BBC?"
Well what it is, is them trying to appeal to people like you. Now go and look up the correct spelling (clue: it starts with 'dumb').

We think your show is great and watch every evening where we live in France
I wonder if I can ask if, after Christmas do people throw away their greetings cards? Does the One Show think its a waste?
Next year I am going to recycle mine and have written this little verse to stick inside:
In an effort to stem global warming
This year we've decided on this-
We"ll recycle last years Christmas greetings
and send off with a hug and a kiss.
Please dont be hurt or offended
We think of you just the much
but it seems such a waste to destroy them in haste
so we'll use them to keep us in touch!
I would be more than happy for you to suggest this recyling idea on air.
Wishing everyone the best of wishes for this time of year -

Your show and Xmas song is excellent.
My wife and I always are pleased to see Adrian and Christine on the TV, but the other evening we watched with growing dismay the televised Royal Command Performance on which they both appeared. It consisted of a stream of television personalties trundled on stage to introduce an seemingly endless series of mediocre performers mainly culled from those dreary tv reality talent contests desperately boosting their album sales. Singers apparently produced on an assembly line, interspersed with would-be comediens who failed miserably to be funny, and for the rest a desolate preoccupation with drag acts. The only consolation for me was the excellent Lion King act.
I suspect that if the standard continues to sink to even lower depths, canned laughter and applause will be urgently required.
