Good evening all! Show started, CB Looking great, AC looking flustered... And a heavy topic to start with. And aside from me fancying the doc, (Well I am old!) I like the way this is presented, its true, people with mental illness should have as much chance and rights as those that dont! There are probably more people suffering depression or mental health problems than are known about.

Someone said yesterday in comments that the show is too short. I agree. Shall we start a campaign to make it the One (hour) Show?? (Sorry Adrian, more script for you to read)

Was it Alistair Campbell's interest in raisins that led him to a career in current affairs?

Oh dear, they followed a good topic with mumbo-jumbo. Isn't it time in this day and age, that humankind gave up this superstition about deities and realised that the world wasnt created by some omnipotent being around 4000 years ago... sainthood for someone that lived a 'holy' life and performed at least 2 miracles.... there are a lot of people that lived a good life, cared about others et-al, and it had nothing at all to do with so-called 'god' more their own humankind.

    (Bet this causes some controversy!)

I have suffer from depression for the last seven years. It is so frustrating at times. People cant see that you are ill. I agreed with the lady who had cancer. It is better received if you have an illness that people can relate to than one that they cant necessary see. Getting a job at my age and having been out of work with this illness is am impossible task. I am almost 59 years old. i suffer from manic depression which is now called bipolar disorder. One day I can be fine and the next day all I can do is cry. I am fighting constantly within myself not to commit suicide. thank you for approaching the subject. One thing that I have found since I have been ill people with mental health problems get lumped into this circle which may ;have people with severe personality disorders and then you have people who can have nerve problems but we all are cast in the same mould and that doesnt help people wanting to admit to their mental health problems.

The neglected part of NHS. So many out there, very little care. Closure of the Pshyciatric Hospitals, struggling but dedicated outreach staff with patients who have always deserved better. Who cares? The Prisons... for far too many disadvantaged people end up there. Nothing done. My gripe is to invite Aliaster Cambell to comment. A man who has deceived most of the country with his manipulations of government and the voter. Let us be serious with our comments of a frightening experience for many people. It could be you or yours.

I was interested in your feature on depression. My daughter has had ME/CFS for 13 years &, although she would now be able to cope with a part time job she is sure that, because she is honest on any application forms about her illness, employers are wary of employing her. She is having to 'survive' on Job Seekers allowance. Chris Croydon
