The One Show website is changing

As you may know, we are planning some changes to The One Show website.

We plan to simplify the site with the priority now on offering video of recent programmes and an invitation to you to send us more of your stories.

Visitors to the new site will still be able to access areas of the old site, but many of those areas will no longer be updated or moderated.

This also means that viewers will no longer be able to add their comments to The One Show blog from Thursday March 25th. Although previous blog posts and comments will still be available to view as part of the archive.

However, we absolutely welcome your views and story ideas and will be inviting you to send in emails to our team regularly. And we hope you'll continue to do so!

If you'd like to continue the conversation about The One Show you can do so on the Points of View message board and the TV blog.

If any of you have other forums that you use to discuss the programme, post a link to them here and share them with the community so that you can continue to talk about The One Show.

Thanks for your continued support for The One Show

I guess we are. Perhaps the criticism gets too much, but at least they have invited links to be posted.

TOS shows the plight of the kids in S.Africa and asks for our money to help them.

Very soon many BBC employees including the one asking for our donations, will spend a month in S.Africa in luxury on guess what, yes that's right, our money.

    Strange world!

The blog enabled one to see the posts & opinions of other viewers and debate with them; therein lay its appeal.

Sending in views on the show via email does not appeal; as a means of puuting a point across it is a waste of time - nothing more than 'Points of View'.

Having seen the pieces Mkie Dilger did on S.Africa, I do hope the wags are billeted for the month in similar accomodation to that shown.Perhaps they could use their partners plastic to give those kids something worthwhile, instead of handbags, shoes and bling for themselves.

RE 3.It probably not the criticism, its more likely the lack of comments on the blog.

Well summed up, but I think after the end of Sports Relief, it will go right over their little bird brain heads.

Thanks to Ryan for confirming the situation. I did wonder whether the One Show site would be affected when the Director General announced the cuts to the website services the BBC offers, but as others have said, it may also be to do with the new producer and changes of direction on the show. I suspect that if even some of the rumours in the papers are true, then I would have had to change my username anyway, to: watchingonebutnotasmuchasbefore - which lets face it, doesnt trip off the tongue easily. So I will be retiring from blogging on 24 March, in advance of that I wish all the best, to those I have agreed with and disagreed with, since I began posting here.

What a brilliant idea for the new web site.
Whereas before, you could praise or criticize the One Show, you will now as a fantastic alternative,be able to show videos of ducks in your garden.Excellent.
Whatever the One Show and the BBC stand for,it certainly ain't that.

(whilst watching Breakfast on BBC1) I have just been invited by my LOCAL weather forecaster to visit his blog on the BBC web site.... As he is part of a regional team, who in turn are part of a much larger national team, each with their own blog, it begs the question of how come the beeb needs to close the One Show Blog?

Come clean TOS. The closure has nothing to do with finance - methinks you've been taken to task too many times by the paying public (viewers / licence payers) and rather than take on board the comments you've applied good old 1930's style censorship and instead of applying the medication you've decided to amputate the limb!

    shame...
