Doing your A Levels or GCSEs and worried about The Cut auditions?

Hi y'all!

With The Cut auditions well underway, a lot of you have been asking A-Level-and-GCSE-related-questions, so in response I have decided to pull out all the stops and (WAIT FOR IT)... post a Monday, mid-afternoon blog! I know. Cause for celebration, right??

I'm now being side-tracked by the thought of balloons, cake and dancing but before I get stuck into that 'Happy Monday Blog' Gateaux (what do you mean you don't have one in your fridge?), I'll clear a few things up that we've been asked about on the blog:

Please note: most of the following need only be taken into consideration if you make it through to the later stages of the audition process (i.e. the recalls), so I wouldn't worry TOO much about the following for now, but do bear it all in mind.

1. If you are taking your A levels, you may still apply for the filming job in London. However, as stated, the job is full time. We wouldn't recommend you to be taking any exams at the same time, and if you did want to, it's huge decision which should not be taken lightly and we advise you to talk it through with your family. If you do make it through to the later stages, then we'll require permission from both your family and the school that they are happy for you to film and sit your A Levels at the same time.

*Interesting Fact of The Day* Matt Kane, who plays Stephen Mackinnon, was just completing his A Levels when filming for The Cut, Season One started! He said it was really difficult, but do-able if you're dedicated. Apparently he had to study on set in between takes.

2. If you are doing your GCSEs, things get a bit trickier - we wouldn't advise you auditioning because, unlike A Levels, these exams are mandatory. It's highly unlikely you'd be able to act in The Cut and sit the exams.

3. In terms of specific filming dates, they'll be confirmed to the successful applicant. But for now, do bear in mind that although it will only be a few weeks filming at a time throughout March-April, there'll be lots of meetings and rehearsals in between. So once again, it would be extremely difficult for you to be taking any form of exam.

4. Lastly, and not exam related, it's important for us to make clear that if you choose to upload your video, you'll have just as much of a chance of being cast as those attending the live auditions in Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow and London. If you've uploaded your video and are pleased it shows off your acting talent, there's no need for you to attend the live auditions.

Phew! I think that's everything. And now for the gateaux... anyone for a slice?
Vicki x

PS. If you've signed up for an audition but are yet to receive details, don't worry - the emails with all the info you need are being sent out this week, including location and your audition time.

Open auditions excitment and details

Hellllllllooo!

So obviously the big, big news in Cut Land this week (oh, if only such a place actually existed... imagine the (emotional) rollercoasters) is the CUT OPEN AUDITIONS! Eek! Are you coming along?? Let me know if you are, cos I will do a good luck dance for you. No, really: I will.

Writer Grant, who sits next to me - get prepared.

A few people have had some questions about the auditions, so to formally* clear any GCSE/A Levels confusion up:

If you are 16 years old and you are taking your A levels, you may still apply for the full time filming job in London.

However, if you are doing your GCSEs, you MUST obtain a performance license from the LEA in order to get the part. This is because A levels aren't mandatory but GCSEs are! If you don't have one of these, we won't be able to see you - sorry.

Joining the cast of The Cut is a full time job. You will be expected to film full time for two weeks every 5 weeks or so - this means you wouldn't be able to sit A levels at the same time.

EEP! Good luck y'all. We're popping along to do some filming at the Manchester and the London auditions for The Cut Special, so if you see us, make sure you give us a wave.

PS. Oops... forgot to post the link to this week's iPlayer episode! Here it is. Imagine... your face could one day be on iPlayer! :o

Hellloooo,

Yes. Yes. The rumours are true: the wait is almost over. Hold the front page and listen closely if you're interested in auditioning for Season Two of the Cut... Because THERE IS NEWS, PEOPLE. NEWS!

Before I divulge (oooh, fancy word), could I please just draw your attention the following things that have been happening in the World of The Cut? Yes? Why thank you.

1. You can totes watch Week 5 on iPlayer right now, right here. And the best part? You can watch it as many times as you want. Well, that's my social life gone then.

2. In The Cut Special this week, I found out all about the closed auditions for Season Two and got some tips from the casting director about how to audition. This may come in handy for what I'm about to say next...

Ready...?

Okay, basically, if you're interested in starring in The Cut then you need to be listening to Switch with Annie and Nick tomorrow (Sunday 31st) from 7pm on Radio 1... cos they're gonna tell you how to sign up for the open auditions!!

And want some gossip?? We're totally looking for TWO characters - one boy and one girl. EEK! Could it be you?

Listen in tomorrow night - Radio 1, 7pm. And don't forget to check back here after, as a certain someone may have a little message for you. Oooooh.

This week the closed auditions took place and I attempted to get the gossip and, err, get a part. Okay, so I may not have got a starring role (or a role at all for that matter), but I did get some ACE tips from the casting director on what to do at an audition, plus I revealed a little about The Cut open auditions...

And by 'open auditions', yes I mean the auditions that YOU can attend! Eek!

Blog fail and French fail...

Bonjour, welcome to a la slightly late Cut Blog...

Okay, so my French is pretty much as bad as Olive's, plus I managed to muck up the blog (it was meant to go up on Saturday, but I sort of forgot to press a button...). However, luckily I do have another undisputed talent: and that's LINKING TO WEEK 4 OF THE CUT ON iPLAYER.

Skilllllllllllllllllz.

In other Cut news, Tuesday saw another live Cut Special which once again descended into Cut-based madness - you can watch it again here.

There's been a few developments on The Cut: Season Two 'swell... on Friday the 'story pitch' took place; a meeting where all the writers pitched their finalised storylines to the executive producer. Scary, but exciting: if the exec agrees to the storylines, it's Season Two a-go-go! I'll let you know as soon as I hear any more.

Until next time ma petite côtelettes,

Vicki x

PS. And yes, that really IS French for Cutlets. Mind blowing, I know.

Olive, auditions and The Cut on iPlayer!

Well, well, well! What a busy week it's been here for The Cut at Switch HQ - first up, the wonderful Billie (who plays Olive) popped in to say hello! She was DESPERATE for the goss on season two, but the writing team can't reveal any of the exciting storylines to anyone yet...

On Tuesday, The Cut Special happened. And it was live. You can watch it again here. Not persuaded? It involves the much coveted 'Funniest Face of the Week on The Cut" award... and haha, no, it's NOT mine.

So moving on: later in the week we started planning our search for a new character... we'll have news about that in the next couple of weeks, but if you're a budding actor or actress who'd love the chance to appear in The Cut, register your interest here if you're haven't already.

Which pretty much brings us up to now: SATURDAY! The day The Cut goes on the iPlayer! Watch Week 3 here right now. See you on Tuesday for some more Cut special action,

Episode 2 on iPlayer + a Cut related joke...

Helloooo and good day to y'all,

Are you getting into The Cut all over again now we're repeating Season One? It was Episode 2 today and you can take a little gander at it right now on iPlayer. After this, you could have a little peak at the photos from behind the scenes that week, followed by, perhaps, a dose of this week's 5:19 Cut Special (which was LIVE btw!)?? Mmm. Delicious.

Anyway! You'll be pleased to hear we've been working really hard on Season 2 of The Cut and although I can't reveal anything just yet, be assured, there are some SHOCKING storylines. Anyone got any guesses at what could be coming up?

On the side I've been working on my comedy stand up routine, which I intend to base around The Cut. After all, it's what the people want. Okay, so far, I may only have one Cut related joke, but I think you'll agree it's outstanding. Ready??

Q: What did Stephen say to the youngest Loxley?

A: OLIVE you!

Ahhhhh! With a joke like that I'm destined for great things I'm sure. Think you can do better? Send any Cut based jokes you've made up to thecut@bbc.co.uk or leave them as a comment here.

Until next time...
