Elbow, Dudamel, AGD and Pilkington

Post categories:

Ellen West - web producer | 17:08 UK time, Tuesday, 10 June 2008

Tonight is our second go at the 30-minute format, and we're keen to know how you think we're doing. You'll find full details of what's coming your way on the programme listing. Last week, Richard Vine's verdict in the Guardian TV & Radio blog was 'more taste, less speed', although he liked the fact that we'd put the Beryl Cook interview from the archive up on the website.

Let us know what you thought of the pace of this week's show and the mix of crafted video pieces, studio time and reviews from Mark. Is it a good idea to have a band in the studio and are we picking the right bands? Tell us your thoughts.

The Show is brilliant. great presenters and great stuff. The bands you have had on so far have been fantastic - especially Elbow and the Hawley dude tonight - Sparks were great too! You must keep having them live in studio - that's when music is at it's best. Kermode's reviews are always worth listening to - the opinionated big eejit that he is!

Elbow and Richard Hawley were amazing, I agree. The track is up there at the moment in iPlayer and we're going to archive it and keep it on the site permanently - should have that page up by the end of the day.

Remember that there's very often a time lag in putting things onto iPlayer as they need to be encoded and added to the site. Things that are delivered ahead of time can be processed in advance, but a topical show (like The Culture Show) needs to be processed on the night, so it won't be online bang after the programme. Don’t worry, it will be turned around asap ;-)

If you thought that Elbow and Mr Hawley were good, there’s a treat for you at the end of The Culture Show Uncut on Friday – Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan. They play live in the studio and are absolutely brilliant.

Here's a recent interview with the duo:

This was the first time I've seen this show - am a weary working parent who used to live in the metropolis and get out loads - and it was a complete treat. I thought Elbow and Richard Hawley were excellent - the live music in the studio gives it a real event feel and makes you feel you're part of something even when you live in the stix. I love Verity Sharp, great to see her on TV. Looking forward to more and definitely put on iplayer please for when I can't keep my eyes open. Thank you thank you

This is one of the best shows on the beeb for me. It covers an array of interests which is never dull or boring. I record the uncut version which I watch on a Saturday evening where the program used to be. Thanks again
