Radio
Listening to The Archers in the last quarter (September to December 2012) rose slightly on the previous three months. The figures have been released today by the industry body RAJAR.
Our 'weekly reach' - the average number of people who heard some of the goings-on in Ambridge in any week - rose from 4.85m to 4.87m.
13.5% of everyone who listens to the radio in the UK listens to The Archers.
And our Appreciation Index (a measure of how much people like the programme) remains high and stable.
Which is nice.

Do you have the figures for AmEx?
It might be interesting to compare those with TA.

Can you tell us a bit more about the 'Apprecation Index', Keri, please? I agree with the above comment too, especially as I'm a recent 'AmEX' convert having been sceptical in the past.

Hi Nemo399 - there's a bit more information on the Appreciation index here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2011/07_july/08/quality.shtml - in short it's a score rating audience appreciation from an independent panel.

Hi The Leech Pedlar - We don’t publish figures for individual Radio 4 Extra programmes. The station as a whole had weekly reach of 1.69m, which was down a bit on the previous quarter but substantially up on the same quarter in 2011 which was 1.55m.

Well this long time listener is now very much an ex listener. Headline grabbing, sensationalist story lines, a 'Wikipedia' knowledge of what life in a country village is like and an almost blind ignoring of economic reality has convinced me that every evening after the seven o'clock news the off switch is the only sensible option.
