The latest series of The Archers’ sister series Ambridge Extra has just finished. But you have one last chance to hear it. BBC Radio 4 Extra is playing all 20 episodes this Monday night (9 September) from 1am to 6am.

But it’s not just for night owls. The episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer to listen to any time over the following week.

Or if you have a PVR (Personal Video recorder such as Sky+ or TiVo), you can set it to record the broadcast and replay it at a time to suit you.

The series followed Matt and Brenda’s adventures in Russia and Lilian’s attempts to mend their tattered relationship. It’s been getting great reactions from listeners, such as this recent comment:

“…Is it just me, or is Ambridge Extra totally KICKASS?? I love The Archers, but Ambridge Extra is a whole other love...”

I’m quite tempted to stay up all night with some blinis and vodka and enjoy the whole series again.

Keri Davies is an Archers scriptwriter and web producer.

Earlier in this series of AmEx I found plot synopses somewhere on the BBC Archers website but I can't track them down anymore. Any idea where they've gone, or where I can read summaries?

Hi athena_42 - the synopses are found on the catch up pages of the Ambridge Extra website http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00zwn0j/broadcasts/2013/09 - if you click 'By date' and choose the date you want the synopsis for... A few are missing but we'll be putting those up soon.

Would it be possible to have a translation of the Russian on this site to go with the latest Ambridge Extra Series?

I have never been moved to comment on any Archers or AE broadcast before, although I have not missed a single episode in years, but this last series has rendered me apoplectic.

This was the purest tosh from first to last, with a plot that was both impenetrable and outlandish, and characters as thin and convincing as cardboard. From Matt's chasing round Russia in pursuit of the money the Mafia seemed to have cheated him of to Brenda's rejection of the gorgeous young oligarch the motivation of the characters was unconvincing and bordering on the preposterous.

The Archers & its derivatives depend on a certain ordinariness for effect, not envelope-pushing absurdity. Are people in the BBC drama department really getting paid for developing & producing this amateurish farrago of nonsense? I do despair.

I agree with the above comment of Mungo Bhoy, However, please let Brenda have some happiness and Dmitry would certainly liven Ambridge up a lot. There is far to much of Helen and Rob sloppy kisses at the moment.
