Perhaps inspired by the recent visit to Ambridge of the Duchess of Cornwall, actor and voice artist Harriet Carmichael has written and recorded her own mini Archers episode.

In three minutes, Harriet plays eight familar characters (including a brief appearance from the usually silent Sabrina Thwaite) - and a celebrity listener.

It's a remarkable piece of work, but we can assure our current cast that there are no plans to replace them with impressionists - no matter how talented!

Keri Davies is an Archers (and Ambridge Extra) scriptwriter and web producer.

Absolutely brilliant - and there was a "hello you two" as well!

Don't go raising our expectations of mistakes being promptly corrected to some unrealistically high level, now...

I haven't listened to either mini-ep. The notion that a single actor can win more plaudits for her work than The Archers' entire production team is too depressing.

Check her new creation - with Ambridge's second Royal guest inside a year - and a TAX-like take on the alter ego of Chris Carter ...

    Superb.

    >Not to worry, gilran. Keri, without acknowledging his error, of course, has corrected his mistake in the first paragraph. Not the active link at the bottom, of course, but he'll get there eventually...

Aargh, sorry. I'll sort the link out pronto.

    I have a little problem
    With which I am afflicted;
    There is a Sunday omnibus
    To which I am addicted.
    I should be outside digging,
    Or weeding in the garden,
If I'm to rival Monty Don
    In my wife's heart's affection.
    But rather than be useful,
    I'll make a bacon sandwich
And brew a pot of morning tea,
    Whilst tuning into Ambridge.
    Then on my favourite armchair
    I'll settle nice and comfy,
And find myself sinking a pint
    With my mate Eddie Grundy.

    ... Oooo aarrrgh! ツ

'No plans'. That's what they always say, right before hey announce that they now have plans...

Will this impinge upon events in The Archers or AmEx, is what we all want to know? And, as Barry Norman never said, why not?
