Thanks for all these. I've spoken to Pat this afternoon with a selection and am writing up her answers.

Former Virago reader ("I've seen all those green books on her shelves", someone, Mike perhaps, once remarked), Greenham Common women supporting all round feminist Pat is now a martyr to her bullying, spoilt children, and, in turn. something of a bully herself to her poor husband, Tony. Who can forget her insistence on the poor henpecked and exhausted soul babysitting the brat Henry so Helen needn't be burdened with the ghastly child she insisted upon buying. Why the total personality change I suppose I'm asking?

    Dear Pat
We don't hear much abpout John's son Rich - are you in regular contact with him - and are there any plans for him to appear in an episode of The Archers?

Do you think Pat always makes the right decisions, or do you think (as I do) that her judgement is sometimes flawed? For example, personally, I was disappointed when she suppported Helen's decision to have a baby by donor insemination so whole heartedly and didn't seem to understand Tony's point of view. I assumed she did that partly because of her feminist principles, and that her attitude was 'in character', but I did feel that she was suffering from ideological tunnel-vision too.

Do you feel let down, that your character, the Only Former Feminist in the Village, has had three offspring who have turned into such flawed, unpleasant characters as a result of her feminism? And why didn't she counter Tom's recent suggestions with her own suggestions, such as, "If you disband the cow herd, why are you not considering a herd of organic pigs here, doing actual farming of organic pigs?"

To what extent do you think Pat (and Tony) are responsible for their ghastly children Tom and Helen ?

How does Pat cope with having 2 of the most annoying characters in the series, as children?

Why would Pat or anyone else care about a message board?

How do you feel if the scriptwriters give you a storyline that you don't agree with? Are the cast ever involved in discussions about this?

Pat, what do you think about the stupid decision by the BBC to close the Archers message board?
