In praise of Pirillo

Chris Pirillo, blogger and technology evangelist, is celebrating his 1,000th video posted to YouTube.Chris Pirillo

Pirillo is a great example of someone who has taken the web and turned it into his own publishing powerhouse.

He broadcasts live multiple times each day, using web technology like UStream.TV and then publishes his videos on to YouTube, where he has a dedicated channel.

"My model for publishing video on YouTube is not to have seven people watch one video but to have one person watch seven videos," he says in his 1,000th video, explaining why he posts so regularly.

Audiences for his YouTube videos are in the hundreds and in total more than 668,000 people have watched them. But it's not about the size of the audience it's about the strength of the community.

During live broadcasts viewers can leave comments that appear live on screen and are later embedded in the YouTube video.

Pirillo talks to his audience in a way that mainstream media - the BBC included - is only beginning to understand.

His videos are on every aspect of technology, and often "how-tos" - from USB switches to backing up your computer and reviews of the latest devices and products.

He has a blog, a Twitter feed, the YouTube channel, a live channel and is one of the most networked people imaginable.

He also co-organises the Gnomedex blogging conference each year in Seattle.

Congratulations to Chris Pirillo. Here's his video:

Chris Pirillo used to have an interesting blog, but now he blogs so much and posts so many videos that the quality has dropped as the quantity has increased.

I used to have time to read his blog, but now I don't bother. I prefer to read the one daily quality post from a blogger, rather than trying to wade through 1,000 videos.

Since the past 5 months approximately I have been a member of the Pirillo community. Before I had entered into this adventure with Chris Pirillo I been one of these guys who tried by trial and error to figure out technology .With many times more error than success.

I found Chris first from his Youtube.com video post,in which I had subscribed to his channel. I then followed him to his blog at chis.pirillo.com and found his writings to be professional in content and appearance. His articles diverted me over finally to his live website at live.pirillo.com I had never been one to participate in chat rooms or communities of almost any kind, until then .I'm now eagerly there daily chatting and being part of this community he has given birth to. I give you Chris a big Thumbs Up
