Week 1: Saturday Live Show

BBC Strictly James BBC Strictly James Online Team

The remaining eight Strictly couples will take to the dancefloor tonight – will any of them be able to overtake Denise and James at the top of the leaderboard? Last night saw tears, an ‘illegal lift’, and a judge already on the offensive; hopefully the rest of the Strictly class of 2012 won’t be in for the same treatment.

As tonight’s performers practice their steps and put the finishing touches on their outfit, we’ll be there to capture those EXCLUSIVE behind-the-scenes pictures you love to see. AND we’ll get a backstage reaction from all of tonight’s couples as soon as they step off the floor.

As ever, we’d love to hear your thoughts whilst Strictly is in session…

Louis and Flavia

Louis: "It's good to get under one of the judges' skin"

Jerry and Anton

Anton: "Maybe we shouldn't take such long lunches..."

Richard and Erin

Ricahrd: "It's excruciatingly exciting being on Strictly"

Lisa and Robin

Robin: "I'm lost for words. I'm NEVER lost for words!"

Dani and Vincent

Dani: "I channelled a kangaroo for some reason"

Johnny and Iveta

Johnny: "Last of the Summer Wine?! Liberty"

Sid and Ola

Ola: "Aww he has tears in his eyes!"

Kimberley and Pasha

Kimberley: "Standing ovation! I didn't expect that!"

Evening all, wasn't here 'live' because I was juggling dinner.

Hopefully the techies will do something to make the blog refresh properly but, in the meantime, a way to refresh and stay on the right page is to click on 'LINK TO THIS' on any other message.

Now, on to the important stuff.

Lisa was fab, I did think she might be. I have a feeling that Anton choreographed the sort of cha cha cha that Jerry could cope with, hopefully the Foxtrot will be beautiful. Sid was great and Louis obviously has potential - did anybody else think that Flavia looked out of sorts when they went back to speak to Tess?

When can we expect the Team blogs BBC would have thought they would already have been in place. Presume it will happen Monday in time for It Takes Two. This site has never been very user friendly and thought it would have improved this year.

Yes think someone's had a word with Darcy about her 'yah's' early days yet, but what does everyone think of her judges comments? Thinking about favourites, Loving Louis and Flavia but he does need to smile more and look like he's enjoying himself. Kimberley and Pasher always looking so happy together they certainly have a great deal of chemistry - as do Colin and Kristina not so sure about Denese and James (who I understand is now dancing with a broken nose accidentaly given to him by Ola!). Disappointed in Jerry do feel that she is capable of so much better effort. Liza and Robin were fantastic so much effort and so entertaining Craig is right she definitely can dance and feel she's going to be a real inspiration to everyone this year.

Not worth commenting on Bruce's performance any more nobody listens! - I know there are folks who record SCD just so they can fast forward through his jokes! Why do we have to have jokes in a programme like this anyway they don't have them in Dancing With The Stars and that works perfectly well.

For me, the 2nd night was a vast improvement on the first, the routines were of a better standard and there was less in the way of endless meandering from "Brucie," they just got on with what, I think the public really wants to see, i.e. dancing, a bit of rehearsal and the judges, though Darcey Bussle, is a massive disappointment, so far, IMO.

However, I loved the routines, there were some surprises suc as Sid Owen, but I was gobsmacked by Lisa Riley and was spellbound by the whole routine.
I had, and I don't think I'm alone here :O) written her off before the whole thing began and felt so sorry for Robin, who I adore, thinking he'd totally drawn the short straw, but the whole thing was captivating and fun in a way that Anton Du Beke and Anne Widdecombe couldn't even beging to imagine..
I ended up in tears, watching it and gave myself a good slap on the wrist for getting it so wrong..I cant' wait to see their next routines.

Meanwhile, I hope to god that Jerry Hall, who I also adore gets more in the way of dance routines in the future, there's only so many times she'll be able to "strike a pose," before we all get bored with it.

I also can't wait to see what else Louis has in store for us..just wish he'd get rid of that "rug," on his head! :O)

All in all, a very promising opening to the series, all that and a gratuitous topless shot of James Jordan near the end, which certainly brightened up a sleepy Sunday Morning for me :O)

    Rich.
