Wow wow wow, what a Semi Final! With a place in next week’s Strictly Grand Final up for grabs, our five remaining couples really did pull out all the stops. With each pair performing two dances on the night, there was double the fun, double the entertainment and double the jeopardy…

Sitting pretty tied at the top of Saturday’s scoreboard are Natalie and Abbey on 78/80. Team Nartem opened the show with a sizzling Salsa, that earned them their first maximum of the series. Remarkably it was Artem’s first 40 since he joined Strictly –and yes he did shed a little tear, bless. Abbey and Aljaz began their Semi Final campaign with a brilliant Samba which earned them 39, only Craig’s nine denying them a second maximum.

Both couples kept the high scoring up with their second routine, Natalie and Artem’s Argentine Tango smouldered with Latino passion with judges awarding it 38. And Abbey and Aljaz closed the show with an American Smooth which had more glitz and glamour than Bruno’s living room, which scored them another 39.

Semi Final Leaderboard

At the other end of the Leaderboard, with a score of 69 are Patrick and Anya, their Paso Doble only scored 33, Craig was particular critical of them saying it “lacked any Spanish feeling”.

Just above Team PatAnya are Susanna and Kevin who scored a total of 70. Their second dance was a Salsa which was described by Len as “a tad messy” and only scored 32, the lowest of any performance on the night.

Who do you think will escape the dreaded dance Off tomorrow and make it through to the final? Let us you’re predictions below.

Patrick and potentially Natalie.... Sophie is vulnerable due to unfair marking and comments.

Do Sophie and Brendan get forgotten again. So blatant that they are not favoured

Interesting leaderboard. I felt Natalie and Abbey were both overmarked for their 1st routines as was Susanna (in the latter 2 instances only marginally). Abbey was also slightly overmarked for her 2nd routine as there was a little bit of gapping otherwise I would have been calling for 4 10s rather than calling for 4 9s.

The other issue I had was that Sophie & Brendans American Smooth was undermarked in my view. I was pleased to see the 10 from Bruno but certainly didn't feel it warranted an 8 from Craig

What little credibility the judges had before tonight has now completely gone after another disgraceful display of bias and favouritism, overmarking and undermarking. Sophie and Brendan performed two of the best dances, not just in this series, but ever, yet the disdain that was shown towards them was nothing short of unprofessional and frankly, insulting. I hope the GBP show the judges where they can stick their 8's and 9's paddles and rightfully send Sophie and Brendan into the final, which is what their two stunning dances deserve.

It's not just S and B that get left out. Most of the pics in the blog are of Abbey ans Aljaz.
