Goodbye Jamelia

After holding the title of surviving the most number of dance offs in Strictly history, Jamelia’s luck changed as she became the eighth celebrity to leave the show.

She faced Peter Andre in the dance off, as both couples performed their routines again. Jamelia and Tristan did their Quickstep to ‘I’m a Believer’ by The Monkees and Peter and Janette performed their Jive to ‘River Deep, Mountain High’ by Tina Turner in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.

It was Peter who had found himself at the bottom of the Leader board, with 29 points despite Len saying it had “lights, camera and plenty of action” with Jamelia getting her second highest score of the series, with a respectable 31 points.

However, despite Jamelia’s best efforts, Craig, Darcey and Bruno all opted to save Peter and Janette. Although when asked by Tess if Head Judge Len Goodman agreed with his fellow judges, he said, “Funnily enough no I didn’t, I thought Jamelia and Tristan did a very, very fine Quickstep and I would have brought you back.”

Speaking of her time on the show, Jamelia said “I’m sorry to go, I do have to say I’ve had the most fantastic time. I’ve made the most amazing set of friends, I’ve danced at the Tower Ballroom and I’ve danced with Tristan MacManus a million times!”

“I just feel so fortunate to have had this experience and I hope that I’ve shown people that if you are determined and if you work hard then you can surpass whatever you think. I thought I was only going to get to week three and be gone but I’m here at the Tower Ballroom and made it to Blackpool, I’m happy!"

"I’ve said it over and over again, I could not have had a better partner than Tristan, he’s so fantastic, so positive and he really has believed in me. It’s down to him why I’ve made it all the way to Blackpool, thank you!”

Tristan added, “The improvement in Jamelia every week has been unbelievable and I couldn’t be more proud.”

We found out in the clip above what the Strictly celebs had to say about Jamelia’s departure.
