Paralympic pro Lauren Steadman sprints into Strictly

Lauren Steadman has buckets full of sporting spirit, but how will she fare taking on a whole new physical challenge? All while dressed head-to-toe in sequins, of course…

She’s already signed on the dotted line, but the reality of being on Strictly hasn’t quite sunk in yet. “I’m a little bit star struck that I’m actually going to be learning and dancing surrounded by such amazing and inspiring people!” she said. “I’ve always wanted to take part in the show, but now it’s a reality I’m a little nervous!”

She may be feeling jittery right now, but Lauren’s definitely used to a bit of competition. The double World Champion paratriathlete experienced her first Paralympic Games in Beijing at the age of 14, eventually switching from swimming to triathlon after London 2012. Four years later, she swiped her first silver medal at Rio 2016, and is currently a five-time European Champion in her event.

Born without her lower right arm, Lauren’s always overcome any boundaries to achieve success, so we can’t see her Strictly experience being any different!

She’ll be joining Katie Piper, Faye Tozer, Danny John-Jules, Joe Sugg, Vick Hope, Graeme Swann, Dr Ranj Singh, Stacey Dooley, Ashley Roberts, Kate Silverton, Seann Walsh and Lee Ryan in the Ballroom this year, with more celebs yet to be announced.
