Jay McGuiness Wins Strictly!

Jay McGuiness and Pro partner Aliona Vilani became the 13th Champions to lift the Glitterball Trophy after a thrilling Final in the Strictly Ballroom.

The Wanted singer wowed the Judges with three amazing dances: Their Quickstep (for their Judge’s pick) to ‘My Generation’, which scored them 36; their Showdance to ‘Can’t Feel my Face’ which scored them 35 points; and their Paso Doble to ‘It’s My Life’ as their Favourite Pick, for which they scored 39 points, and a comment from Darcey that: “You are number 1 in my book!”

And it appears Jay was number 1 in your book too as you Wanted him to be your Strictly 2015 champion – and that he became!

Upon finding out he’d won, Jay said to Tess: “I feel spaced out – it’s really weird!” before telling Aliona: “You deserve it so much, you really do.” He went on to tell Tess: “It’s been one of the most special things I’ve done and with the most special person. And I think if anyone that watched that helped us to get here and enjoyed what we were doing, I’m really happy that you liked it because it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.”

Jay and Aliona managed to lift the Glitterball Trophy from former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote and partner Giovanni Pernice, as well as EastEnders actress Kellie Bright and dance partner Kevin Clifton. Earlier in the evening Proms presenter Katie Derham and partner Anton Du Beke became the first couple to be eliminated from the Final.
