Strictly is back in all its glittering, sequined, spray-tanned glory. Tonight, six of our couples will grace the dancefloor to tackle a Waltz or a Cha Cha; all of the duos have been training hard in preparation for this weekend! The remaining eight couples will dance during tomorrow night’s show (6.30pm).

Here is a full list of the dances and music our couples will be performing to tonight:

Fern and Artem – Cha Cha to ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ by Stevie Wonder

Denise and James – Waltz to ‘With You I’m Born Again’ by Billy Preston and Syreeta

Michael and Natalie – Waltz to ‘If You Don’t Know Me By Now’ by Simply Red

Nicky and Karen – Waltz to ‘I Wonder Why’ by Curtis Stigers

Colin and Kristina – Cha Cha to ‘I Got You (I Feel Good)’ by James Brown

Victoria and Brendan – Cha Cha to ‘Spinning Around’ by Kylie Minogue

You’re going to have to wait until tonight, 9pm, BBC One to see the first dances of Strictly 2012… one thing you won’t have to wait for is the 2012 opening sequence. Watch all 14 couples in our brand new opening titles, hours before it premieres on BBC One. Think of it as a starter before your sizzling main course!

Let us know what you think.

I'm not very technical but has something different happened with the standard of the pictures and videos this year? everything is looking overly bright and not as sharp as usual - everything in the past has always been fine so why the need for the change - have others noticed the difference? thought I saw one comment on this blog that there definitely had been a change and BBC were using a new system this year.

Much better to have the dance-off reinstated - strictly fans enjoy watching folks like Sargent and Widdercombe but not at the expense of celebs who really deserve to stay in the programme through their hardwork. It's also fairer on the professional dancers. It will be interesting to see how this series pans out - hopefully without all those embarrasing 'comedy' sketches from last year! Hopefully the dance props will be kept to a minimum. The fans just want to see the teams improving week on week and watching them become as good as they possibly can be with the help of their professional dancer.

There was so much joy to be had watching SCD this last two evenings. I love Darcy. I am not even upset about Anton yet again not getting a great dancing partner because Jerry is great and they are having fun. Great show, the band, the singers, the dancers, the judges, the set, the lighting, the celebs the 'flipping everything' wowser!!! It's back the SCD that I love. A dance off and no Aleisha.
    Inspirational. Thank you.

Good 2 evenings I thought - stand out Colin, Denise, Louie (not sure of spelling)Lisa, Sid. Not necessarioly, as they say, in that order.

Several not too good and hopefully if Victoria continues to do 30 hours a week in traning, so I read, then hopefully she will remember her steps. Johnny was fun, in time and remembered his steps. Jerry might be a pain and I love Anton's remarks, they are quite "clever" might be a word to use.

Enjoyed both evenings and look forward to some more good Saturdays and I am pleased that the dance off is back, so that we do not have the Sargent, Widdecombe fiascos.

    JUST NOW
Oh dear .... I really hope Brucie watches the first show when he gets home and realises he is no longer up to the job. It was probably one of the most cringeworthy programmes I've ever seen. Bruce, for many years you have been the host with the most but it is now time to step down. You cant see the auto cue, your timing has gone, so many mistakes it really is an embarrassment. As the series progresses it is only going to get worse. Please step down NOW !

What an utter delight to have Darcy on the panel. To date the most helpful and constructive remarks have come from the best judge on the panel, Craig. He may well be surpassed now we have Darcy. What a brilliant show.

To be perfectly honest ddd I just ignore Brucie .In the past I really enjoyed his shows and was a big fan but now I just find him irritating. Many people still find him endearing though :) ....if I have recorded the show I just fast forward . I thought of you last weekend ; I was at a comedy roadshow and thought of your retort to the rather rude 'comedian' last year lol. I don't really know any of this years celebs and will just bide my time. 2lips will turn up I'm sure, she usually waits until team blogs are up I think. Very excited to be back though....sending you a pack of pork pies to celebrate :) Memory like an elephant me, other similarities too .
