Johnny Ball has become our first celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing. After facing the dreaded Dance Off; sadly for Johnny the judges made a unanimous decision to save Richard Arnold.

In an emotional end to his Strictly dream Johnny left saying "I think for my age I did quite, quite well. I'm so disappointed I'm leaving, I really, really am."

Here's how Johnny and his fellow celebrities felt about his departure...

Was it the right decision? Let us know below.

Sorry that Johnny went but he should be very proud of himself. He did extremely well as the oldest celebrity dancing in the competition which didn't show in his performances, he was very enthusiastic and seemed to have bags of energy.

This was the wrong two in the dance off, in my opinion. The cricker was by far the worst dancer this week, as was Nicky. So I would like to have seen Johnny Ball continue and improve under the excellent choreography and guidance of his talented and beautiful professional dancer who stepped in at last minute. Thanks to you both. You were right, Johnny Ball is a real gentleman.

Clearly Michael should have been in the dance-off. His jive was awful and his ballroom was boring to say the least- Johnny showed real improvement and a lotta class in the ballroom :(

There have been older contestants who bucked the early exit trend; Pamela Stephenson in the 2010 final and Ann Widdecombe in the quarter final that same year. I agree it is high time Anton got a good partner;if he takes part in the Christmas special perhaps he can be found one for that?

It was a shame that Johnny Ball was voted out, he put in the effort and practise time to learn his dances. When the celebrities are chosen to take part I am sure they are made aware of the commitment required, if they are not committed to put in the time required then they shouldn't take part, simple as. Michael and Nicky weren't good but they tried, Jerry Hall is too busy posing and worrying about how she looks for the camera, it's about time Anton had a decent partner

Michael/Natalie and Jerry/Anton should have been in the dance off, with Michael going. That was no more a jive than fly, it was awful. Personally, I didn't even find it entertaining. Jerry needs to wise up and learn to dance properly, rather than just swan around like she was still gracing the cat walk.

    nuttynora @ 43.

How I totally agree with all what you said and you said in a passionate way so credit to you for coming out with it.

That particular selection condition that is in place is incredibly obvious to us fans and has been for some time. Some of the less fancied are some of the most endearing granted but I for one get the feeling that they are also amongst the most self deprecating about how average they are and that they don't mind being eliminated. It is water of a duck's back. I am yet to see one celebrity that was visibly disappointed about leaving early. Which leads me to believe they were brought in to help the better ones survive and to really hone their enormous potential. If they all were that good we would have some very strong celebrities going out a the first stage which would be bad for the show for me.

For me it the interest in dancing does come down to the fundamental issue; whether or not you are willing to learn. Which takes a level of confidence and self esteem. Everyone, regardless of how you look, can do the steps if they have the confidence to want to dance. Look as Lisa Riley. She really surprised me. Her Viennese Waltz was really very good.

Regarding Brendan's partner, were you thinking of Lulu or Jo Wood?

I was sorry to see Johnny go but agree with the decision. However, I don't like the way he keeps repeating that he has done very well for his age. My husband and I are both only two years younger than Johnny and look and act MUCH younger than him. Johnny is getting us 70 year olds an image that is far too old for our years.
