Fern Britton has become the fifth contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing. Despite, sadly in a week where Fern had finally found her dancing feet, scoring her highest score in the series so far and impressing the judges with a sizzling salsa, our Great Britton found herself facing Kimberley Walsh in the dance off.

After the judges unanimously voted to keep Kimberley in the competition, a clearly emotional Fern reflected on her time and said…

”This is the best party on the television, it’s the best programme in the world, and I’m thrilled to have been part of it. My ticket on the train has run out. Everyone else – good luck, good luck, good luck! It’s the best party. You’ve got dancing in the drawing room, you’ve got snogging upstairs, you’ve got throwing up in the garden. It’s been fantastic. You really do live that – the throwing up mostly! Artem, I’ve loved it. I wouldn’t have swapped you for anything. There have been highs and lows, we’ve got to know each other pretty well, and I do adore you…"

Find out how Fern's fellow celebrities felt about her departure...

Tonight Denise did too much Egyptian stuff ,hardly any Charleston yet judges gave her tens! Louis did a fantastic American smooth ,great timing and footwork ,but criticised for not enough Smooth in it. Judges have obviously decided Denise is the best dancer and are prepared to give her high scores irrespective of content.

I didn't really like tonight at Wembley. The place is too big. The only dance I really enjoyed was Michael and Natalie. I usually love Louis and Flavia dances but it was a bit strange because the music and the choreography missed the mark. Hopefully next week they've have a better dance.

Again Denise gets top marks! SHE HAD PROFESSIONAL DANCE TRAINING WHEN SHE WENT TO STAGE SCHOOL! This is quite frustrating when genuine beginners like Michael, Lisa, Louis etc are making a real effort to improve!

Can someone please get some decent direction into the camera work. One minute we're too far away to see what's going on, then we're so close we can only see their faces. Changing camera shot every 10 seconds does not make for good viewing. All that effort and expense spoiled by amateurish incompetence. Drives me mad!

Well, got the standard answer to my complaint about the noise. Which singularly fails to solve the problem of the sound for viewers being ruined. by the audience actively being encouraged to make more of a noisy reaction to the dancers.

No excuses SCD sound department. Sort this out BEFORE the show is broadcast.

@ gorscot - Agree re Bruce being preferable to Anton. Shame your paper hasn't put that article on line.

I am however very worried about Bruce, this year he seems to be struggling far more than ever, both with the jokes and the Autocue. The poor jokes can be put down to the writing but the Autocue cannot.

MrrArcanum, quotes are from Wednesdays' Daily Record, which I have in front of me. Not at all surprised as, over the years of Strictly Brucie has enjoyed overwhelming public support. Even the blogs this year are more evenly split. It remains the case that support for Bruce islower amongst those of the serious dance contest persuasion; over-represented on the blogs but a minority of the viewers, and much higher amongst the family light-entertainment show viewers who are the vast majority of the public.
As you know I am not a fan of Tess, who I find wooden, and dont agree she is there to provide "eye candy". Claudia I loved on IT2, but she is sooo wrong for the main show!
Given what I have heard rumoured from the corridors of BBC Scotland, the Anton du Beke view that when Brucie goes the show should end, seems the most likely outcome. On that basis, and because I like him as the main presenter, I hope Brucie has many miles left in the tank!

@gorscot: exactly. I don't believe anyone with a heart could behave in such a way. On ITT he insisted that he 'roots for all the contestants and wants them to do well'... but then proceeds to savage them and their performances in the most vicious manner. Who are you trying to kid, Craig?

@SCDFanatic: totally agree with you about Richard! Plus, he's adorable, a lovely chap who tries very hard and his enthusiasm and character exude from every pore. Others have slammed his tactile 'smoochy-woochiness' (as I call it), I just love his affection towards Erin and it's pretty clear she does too. They're a smashing pair. Please, please let the Pendelton woman be eliminated before him (although I doubt it'll happen that way). :(

Heavens! . . . . Tess is not old and looks great! The presenters all do a good job in their own different styles.

Next year, if Bruce takes a week off, Fern could come back as a guest presenter! She would be great up the stairs with the celebrities on a Sunday night because she seems so sweet and compassionate.

83.D0P41 Dear Strictly Live Audience, Please STOP clapping, whooping, whistling etc

To be fair I don't think it is the public that makes this noise.

Each week the screech you hear is the same and it also appears on ITT....So is it a BBC Insider planted in the audience to make the noise?
