Countdown presenter Rachel Riley and dance partner Pasha Kovalev became the fifth couple to leave the competition tonight, after finding themselves in the deadly Dance Off against pals Abbey Clancy and Aljaz Skorjanec.

Rachel conjured up her best performance yet, scoring a respectable 30 points for her Viennese Waltz, however her routine wasn’t enough to bewitch the Judges, with them unanimously voting to save Abbey and Aljaz.

Looking back at her time on the show, Rachel said: “I haven’t cried until now, I have made some amazing friends. I really enjoyed tonight, I really enjoyed yesterday’s dance so I’m really pleased to go out on a high. Abbey is just gorgeous, a gorgeous dancer, a gorgeous girl and I have no shame in getting knocked out to her. I have just loved it - from the make-up, to the hair - the whole show.”

Speaking of Pasha, she added, “He is just the nicest person in the world. He couldn’t have looked after me better, it has just been an absolute pleasure.”

Take a look at the reaction to Rachel’s departure in our exclusive clip:

Am amazed by Len's vote in the dance off- was he not watching the same dance as the rest of us?

I agree with all of the comments on Rachel's departure. I feel that Strictly has taken a bad direction and I am not going to watch it again -- or at least, not until someone tells me that the undeserving celebrities have gone out of the competition.
    P.S. Get rid of Len
P.P.S. Wouldn't it have been great to see Rachel as Marilyn Monroe at Blackpool - instead of Dave!

Rachael deserved to stay in the show
She was improving, and entertaining and enjoyable to watch
    Then there is Dave ...
    Why is he still in?

Dave was interviewed and said he wanted to get to final
Said he thought he deserved to be in still
Just see what voting for him as done - gone to his head

Given Patrick's brilliant, fast quickstep last week, in order to sort out the dancing abilities of Dave, Mark, Ben and Ashley, perhaps this week they should perform the exact same dance, then we should all have a better idea of their dancing abilities. Shame to say it, but so far Mark has 'walked' through and acted all of his dances - there has been no 'speed' to any of them. Whilst the judges continue to criticise Dave and then, in some cases, give him a reasonable mark (Len!!), one cannot help wonder if Len, in particular, is playing to the crowd rather than judge a dance competition.

The voting system as applied by the Beeb to the judges scores has a major arithmetical flaw. When two or more dancers tie, the ranking of the next dancer(s) down needs to miss a position or positions. By not doing this the BBC effectively promote the dancers below the tied scores. This results in the ludicrous position, for example of Dave Myers getting 4 points instead of the o1 point he should have had by coming last. The effect of all this is to enhance the position of the poorer dancers and give a higher weighting to the public vote than to the judges vote (since the public vote is unlikely to tie!) – hence the daft result at the weekend.

It's about time the BBC published the public vote on the show, but this won't happen because there is no room to manipulate the results to reflect the result the producers want. This is just another example of how the BBC patronises it's viewers just as it tries to make us think the results show is on the Sunday when we all know it takes place after the main show. How could you put a show of this magnitude on again the next day. Grow up BBC.
