It was curtains up on an all singing, all dancing Musical episode tonight. Our couples took centre stage to tread the boards of the ballroom, performing their routines to our favourite musical tunes.

The top billing of the night was Abbey and Aljaz’s sizzling Salsa which saw them awarded the first 40 of the series! We were starting to think Craig's ten paddle might never see the light of day!

Patrick and Anya's Charleston was the second highlight of the night, with Craig claiming that “the whole routine was spectacular.” They gained their highest score of the series with a whopping 38 points.

After performing their American Smooth, Natalie and Artem lost their place at the top of the Leaderboard, slipping to joint third place with Sophie and Brendan. It may be Artem’s favourite dance but Len said there was “too much swishing and not enough Foxtrot.”

Proving how much the competition has heated up, Mark and Iveta found themselves at the bottom of the Leaderboard with a very respectable 29 points for their Samba. With Craig claiming it was Mark’s best dance to date, we’re left wondering, who will be in the dance off tomorrow? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

What concerns me about the scoring isn't so much the consistency but the bloody unfairness of the scoring trend throughout (from week 1) from Craig. Did you know he has given the same number of 10's as Bruno has given 3's and the same number of 3's from Bruno is the same number of 10's from Craig? Craig has only one 10 which is the same as Bruno for the 3 paddle. Craig has eight 3's which is the same as Bruno for the 10 paddle.

Craig has only shown the 2 paddle one time less than the number of times Len has shown the 10. Craig has shown the 2 a massive FOUR times. Thankfully nobody has shown the 1 mark but it is only a matter of time before Craig does award a 1 to someone. He last showed the 1 to Nancy Del'Olio for her Waltz in Week 1 of 2011 which I thought was unfair. Yes she was bad. But bad enough to warrant a 1?! He may even abstain from voting at all he will think someone is that bad no doubt. Len has shown the 10 only five times.

The number of times Craig has shown the 2 and 3 combines is twelve times. Between the other three judges only once has either paddle been shown when Bruno awarded a 3 for Tony's Charleston.

This level of harshness from Craig is frankly getting ridiculous. The other judges are more kinder and more encouraging to the lesser talent like Mark Benton was. That is why Mark went out. Craig was forever beating him down. He never thought he was ever doing well. Mark's confidence and self belief was suffering as a result.

Someone needs to put Craig aside and give him a few words in his lug-hole about the times he is showing paddles under 5.

I agree with you @101, while I am happy to join in comments on the dance or any good or bad points of the dance trying to be objective, I feel the personal comments about the presenters, celebs, judges, musicians or pros (especially based on what is read in the tabloids) is well out of order and often plain rude.

I am not sure though about the lack of a level playing field, I feel that most of the good dancers get a reasonable deal but do sometime think the less talented dancers who bring some degree of fun do sometimes get higher scores than their dance deserves, sometimes at the cost of better dancers which I feel Rachel, Debera and Fiona all suffered from this year. But the same has happend for many years.

Not convinced Sophie's was the best VW I have seen but maybe 36 was a bit low but 40 would have been too high, perhaps 37 or 38 max but this would not have made much difference, only 1 place.

Agreed @101 I also felt like the best dancer last year was Denise Van Outen and I love the show warts and all.

    92.
alison kelly Those who make personal comments
abut the dancers, who they do not know, are out of
order - all the celebrities competing in the word Craig
favours are fab-u-lous. I love, and try to follow the old
American Indian saying 'never criticise a man until
you have walked four miles I his moccasins' Re:
Abbey she was incredible on Saturday and so full
of Joie de vivre. The majority of postings were
delighted for her. It isn't particularly about Sophie's
marks that the postings are mostly about, but the
judges inconsistencies marking higher those with
obvious mistakes as opposed to those with minute
little detail) - that appertains to all celebrities. i.e.
anyone of them doing a brilliant V.W. like Sophie's
(I make no apologies for saying Sophie 's VW is
the best I've seen from a celebrity in SCD) I would
expect to get at least get the same score (or higher as
I thought hers deserved) Judges lets have a level
playing field -a true standard of fairness. Posters may
be surprised who have read my post that I have not
voted for anyone yet, Quarter Finals are when
my vote kicks and my vote will be for the celebrity
who(as far as I can see on TV)does the best dance
on the night. Probably won't get it right as when in
the final I voted for Denise van Outen ,whom I didn't
take to at the early stages, one bit. Loving the show
    warts and all!

I so agree with posters @92 and 93 - yes, it is getting a bit wearisome reading so much about how Sophie is being undermarked. Yes, her dances may well be very good technically but when the clip of her VW was shown on ITT tonight I did see what Craig meant about her neck getting "lost" and it did slightly spoil the look of the dance for me (compare it with some of the professionals dances and how they hold their heads to perfection). As someone has said on the blogs before Brendan should be listening to the judges constructive comments and taking them on board then perhaps they would get 10s.

spencernj @93 - I totally agree with your last paragraph about Sophie seeming to lack passion and therefore not seeming to be fully involved in the dance. I was very much of that opinion last week with her rumba which again was danced well technically but I too felt that there was something missing and it thus came across as rather cold and clinical. Perhaps the judges, like me, have Artem & Kara's sensational rumba from 2 or 3 years ago still in their minds - now that was a spine-tingling rumba!!!!!!! (Anyone who hasn't seen it can enjoy on youtube)

As you say, spencernj, if Sophie can overcome this problem then she could well be a contender for the glitterball. Just a thought - perhaps it's something to do with Brendan, did he not have the same problem with Victoria Pendleton last year?????

I thought Craig scored Sophie a 9 and I think he did answer the question he said Abbey owned the dance and looked as good as the professionals and it was the whole package that made him remove his 10 from the safe.
And to be perfectly honest I think the Salsa and the Samba are the dances every one dreads not the in hold ballroom , I like Sophie very much and I am sure she will get tens just get sick of the mean comments about a young lady Abbey who is only trying her best and was awarded the holy grail Craig's ten first.

Obviously I have not the experience of Craig, but have a good
eye - enjoyed the dance. Very flamboyant and full of confidence
which I liked. But understand from those more knowledgeable than
me that it was NOT without mistakes. Zoe disappoints once again
in not asking the question many would like Craig to answer and that
is in no way denegrating Abby - why if he thought Sophie's dance
amazing (which probably was the most difficult technically)and
all he could say that when she was spinning so fast she lost her
neeck (a very minute detail he said), why he only gave her eight.
Zoe, who should be the voice of the public is letting us down.
Karen Hardy when you come please don't run with the hare and
    hounds.

Loved Craig on ITT saying how much he loved Abbeys dance and how the dance deserved 40.
