Week 7 - Leaderboard

Post categories:

BBC Strictly James | 21:18 UK time, Saturday, 12 November 2011

As another Saturday draws to a close, so does another Strictly live show, but it doesn't stop there. Alex started the show with a performance Len described as full of 'verve and gusto'.

It's now clear that the standard of dancing is on the rise as only one couple failed to keep up to speed - sorry Audley. Chelsee got her first 10; Harry got his first pair of 10s; Robbie and Anita received their highest scores to date; Holly had a different partner but the same score as last week; Jason was this week's biggest improver; and Russell, well, Russell didn't disappoint.

Here is the complete leaderboard from Week 7. Tune in on Sunday, 7.25pm on BBC One to see who leaves Strictly.

Don't mean to be rude but why is it that those of us who want to watch it later tonight (ie have a life) are not able to...not on iplayer or virgin madia. NOT acceptable.

  • Comment number 2.

I have been waiting for SCD for three hours to come on BBC iplayer...what is going on BBC why is there a delay!!

  • Comment number 3.

I think Alesha is really damaging the marking system and 10s have no significance to me in this program anymore!! Now I'm no judge but if other judges have pointed out obvious mistakes I would never override this and give out 10s. She doesn't have respect for the other judges whenever they are stating their opinions she keeps interrupting them!Everyone is entitled to their opinion but she is always speaking over people.

  • Comment number 4.

There was a note on the Live Show blog that the show won't be available until later - can't remember the exact wording or explanation but you could perhaps check it out. It's annoying when iPlayer doesn't work because if we knew that from the outset, we could record the show.

  • Comment number 5.

How much later? Merlin is on iplayer now and that was on after SCD. :(

  • Comment number 6.

The competition is hotting up. I think the dancing on the show this week was the best so far this series. Seven couples scored more than 30 points. I think the person going this week is between Audley and Russell. The person going home from now on is likely to be the one who’s dance didn’t suit them and the Cha cha cha didn’t suit Audley and he was scored less than last week. I enjoyed Russell’s dance more this week than last and he did get 2 more points this week.

Holly danced well with Brendan and I thought it was sexy. I think Alex might have been over scored a little. If the judges saw Chelsee make mistakes was she over marked? I agree with strictystarlight7 @ 3 it does seem strange to give a 10 when other judges have said there were mistakes. (However I didn’t notice Alesha talking over the other judges more than any other judge.) I was not unhappy with Harry’s 10’s as I think Harry’s dance was his best so far, but I might have only given it a 9. I enjoyed Anita’s dance more than any one she has done so far.

  • Comment number 7.

Think Alesha gives 10's to freely. The only judge who is usually spot on for me is CRAIG!!!!!!

  • Comment number 8.

Super dooper show - love the snippets within the training sections - fun and original thinking - shows the celebs can smile at themselves and must be fun making them.
I was so moved by Kristinas dance I fell off my perch when it didn't score all 9s - no matter how marvellous Chelsee was - and, the choreography was brill by both Kristina and Pasha - it was just a wee bit brittle and not emotional.
Viva all of the dancers and good luck to Jason and Robbie and wowsville for one of the best Arg Tangos in all the series from Harry who mailed it like a pro.

  • Comment number 9.

I like Alesha's 10 and Harry who nailed a hard dance deserved it - for me I like the dance steps and good choreography. Lurve the costumes and snippets in training - I do though wonder how come some folk are scored higher, I have watched my dvd and Jason's arm movements were so so like a pro.
I do hope the BBC continue to deliver the show without the terse and cruel comments that have been on all previous weeks. Karen Hardy would be a brill judge - smiley, expert and not rude but encouraging with her critique.

  • Comment number 10.

A very very disgraceful scoring and comments by Len. He should be ashamed of himself showing inconsistency and favouritism. How can Jason receive 9 compared to Chelsea's 8 and definitely Harry 8 as opposed to Anita's 9. I loved Anita, but Harry was much better. What was thought there? Was Harrys Tango same level as Robbie's American Smooth. I wanna complain about his behaviour and favouritism, esp prejudice against Aliona as she said something against judges and favouritism to Jason who just blindly agrees!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment number 11.

Couldn't watch it live over the Internet last night and it's still it up on iplayer!!!! What's going on BBC??

  • Comment number 12.

Alesha needs to calm down, she gives out 10's like they're smarties.10's should be reserved for the end of the competition.Harry's argentine tango whilst good technically lacked emotion, more like a very good practice routine than the real thing.

  • Comment number 13.

    Three things...

    1. Len needs to let Craig do his job without all the insults. Craig is accurate in his scores and precise in his comments. Len's making a fool of himself.

    2. The scores are relative. If Russell (love him) gets 7's and Alex and Robbie (so much improved) get 8's the only way is up for the rest of them.

    3. A fair leaderboard. The top four always turn in good performances so the order usually depends on how much a dance suits them.

  • Comment number 14.

Finally,Team Hali up there where they belong!Even though I agree with Harry everyone is entitled to there own opinion I think that Len is a little hard on Aliona's choreography and shouldn't blame Harry for that! Thanks Alisha for giving Harry another 10,Bruno thanks for the first one too!

  • Comment number 15.

I think Len said it best about Russell Grant. He compared him to a huge Ferrero Rocher. I remember having my first Ferrero's and the fist one was nice, but whereas the second just felt like the novelty was wearing of the third one just made me feel ill. That said, comparing Russell to a Ferrero is offensive to the company that makes them.

I have defended RG to the hilt because I felt at the start of the competition he may have been compared to Ann Widdecombe. 'Was he going to come out and just entertain us with laughs?' Russell's little finger's fingernail is more of a dancer than Ann. He is a lot closer to a dancer than Ann. But to award him 6 more points than Audley when Audley at least puts in a decent effort shift every time is frankly scandalous.

At this stage of the competition the judges really need to be more scrutinising because the standard should be a lot higher as we search for a couple deserving of the title 2011 Strictly Come Dancing champion. And does anyone think RG get's anywhere close? Not me. RG need to go and go soon.

  • Comment number 16.

Very disappointed with Len's obviously biased marking. I have always found him a fair judge and spot on with his marking but last nights fiasco was ridiculous at best and biased at worst.
To mark Anita's performance above Harrys was particularly unfair. I really think he has not gotten over Aliona's comments at the beginning of the series. He needs to get over it and get back to being the Professional Len we know and love.

  • Comment number 17.

Best dancing of the series last night. I agree with all previous comments regarding the marking - also, Harry's dance was amazing!

  • Comment number 18.

bbc iplayer what is happening? can't wait to watch have set aside time this morning to watch and still not available.

  • Comment number 19.

STILL not available on Iplayer.. Indeed if I had known I would have recorded it last night. Will it be made available before the RESULTS show tonight? Don't have all day to wait, what a SHAME! Perhaps the BBC can make a comment on the SCD homepage when it WILL be available and NOT in the live show when clearly the people who need to know are not the people watching the live show... ......

  • Comment number 20.

Still can't get to watch it on i player as not loaded, I am really desperate to see it looking at everyone's comments, and i agree that Alesha just hands out the 10s especially this series she gave one really early to Harry. I do love Harry and Aliona but from what I have seen so far there is no 10 for me, a 10 is supposed to be a near perfect dance and not sure that has been done by anyone yet.

  • Comment number 21.

Really unhappy that the show is not up on iPlayer. Going to be upset if it's not up before the results show :/

  • Comment number 22.

I don't know if it'll ever appear on the catch up. The live show was not available online at all. Does anyone know why. A few people aren't going to be very happy if it's not available online in the future

  • Comment number 23.

I'm taking my life in my hands here to say ... I think that Alesha's scores were on track. And why, you might ask (and probably are). Well, here's why: Alesha represents The Public. She represents those of us who love the programme but have no technical dancing understanding at all. We just love to watch. Now, she does, of course, have personal experience of SCD, so she's one up on the GBP, but that aside, she's marking in a way similar to how a non-dancing-educated Public person might well mark.

And in that case, I think she gets it exactly right. She does over-compensate sometimes when, say, Craig or Len are likely to mark down, but in that casae, her marks are only balancing things again.

I love KH and would love to see her on the Judges' Panel. But not in the place of Alesha - take out Bruno and put her there. Then the GBP will still have a representative on the Panel. Or take out Len, give him a choice between SCD or DWTS and make sure that he's not jet-lagged and consequently offensive.

  • Comment number 24.

love strictly this year but have to agree with previous comments - what is Lens problem with Harry? they are always undermarked in comparison to others

  • Comment number 25.

Right seen as no i player I have just managed to watch all dances on you tube. Thought the show was brilliant some real contenders for the final but think Len needs to get a grip with Harry and Aliona, how can he say he is being fair by giving Russell a 7 and Harry an 8, I loved Russell's dance but technically Harry was better. Audley should go this week he is the weaker link and Im starting to get bored with Alex a bit, loved the tangos and the smooths, still not impressed that couldn't watch the show properly, thank goodness for YT!!

  • Comment number 26.

"Alesha represents The Public. She represents those of us who love the programme but have no technical dancing understanding at all"

I have no technical understanding of dancing but frankly would rather she represented the judges jullieanna1811 @ 23 frankly. Her views I think are after all meant to reflect a more unbiased and professional attitude, don't you think?

  • Comment number 27.

It is now 10.30 am on Sunday morning and Strictly still isn't even availabe on iPlayer for streaming - really not good enough without an explanation.

  • Comment number 28.

In terms of Alesha's marking, I do think Harry deserved 10s but she scored Chelsee with a 10 when I saw some foot hopping and etc. Len and Craig clearly pointed this out. If she gave this foxtrot a 10 she might as well have given Chelsee a 10 on her Charleston last week IMO, glad she didn't tho as they would have been an uproar. Also Alesha gave Jason a 10 in Halloween week when even Jason himself admitted mistakes. Even I myself saw some stumbling mistakes with posture and straight legs in that Quickstep.

I understand that Alesha is probably a judge that is marking on the entertainment but for me the technical value of the dance has to be balanced with the entertainment value; Not one over the other. SCDFanatic is right I would rather Alesha represent the judges and not the public views. She would get more credit for that.

  • Comment number 29.

PS on the other extreme, Im not happy with Len's biased marks given to Aliona and Harry. He stated it lacked passion....the dance defiantly deserved more than an 8. Somebody needs to talk to Len about his outbursts which normally occur when HALI dance. I feel so sorry for them both....keep up the good work. I remember Aliona and Matt Baker were on the receiving end of constant criticism from Len and Alesha last yr (as I watched it last week) to the point where it made Matt Baker cry. Come on need some order on the panel!!

  • Comment number 30.

  • Comment number 31.

I accept that the judging will be something of a ranking rather than an absolute score, but I have to agree that 7 for Russell and 8 for Harry leaves me wondering about how Len awards marks. In the past I have found him fairly consistent and fair. I am no prude but I thought his outburst was appalling. This is a show watched by lots of children. The language and the manner in which he attacked Craig fell way short of the standards of a gentleman, which I had always believed Len to be. Alisha gave him a get out and he snubbed her too.

  • Comment number 32.

A lot of people, like me, are clearly upset at the sudden disappearance of SCD from i-Player. I have been all over the BBC website looking for an explanation but the only one I can find is on the i-Player site. It simply says 'due to rights issues'. That is about as good as saying 'because it isn't'.
Will it be on - ever? Whose rights are being trodden on?
Come on BBC, you have worked really hard to persuade a lot of us to switch on to your i-Player. You just cannot treat us like this. (Well clearly you can, but you shouldn't)

  • Comment number 33.

    @ julianne1182

Nail & Head re Alesha. Though her slavering over Harry along with Bruno is getting boring.

  • Comment number 34.

Len's grumpy old man act is becoming rather tiresome. He acts as if he is indispensable. He's not. Put him out to grass and bring in Karen for the next series.

  • Comment number 35.

Annoucement!! SCD is on BBC iplayer now everyone, someone mentioned it on the other blog.
Watched Harry's AT again...it was great well deserved. Aliona's natural blond hair is coming out of her dyed red hair.

  • Comment number 36.

Please, please will someone remove the number 10 paddle from Aleesha.......it is being abused by her!!!!!! I agree with other people's comments, please can we have Karen in her place! Aleesha is well and truly past her sell by date!!!

  • Comment number 37.

I am deeply disappointed with Len- I feel he should be made to apologise to Craig publicly with his Catty remarks- Last night comments about him when he was having a go at Craig about harry and alionas performance was disgraceful-He should know better- I feel so strongly about this that i feel like making acomplaint about Len- I think its time he hang up his judging role- he always has his favourites -Robbie being one of them and how can he justify giving Anita a higher score than harry!!!!!!! Does anybody else out there agree that Len is getting too big for his boots as role of head judge- BRING BACK JENNIFER GRAY OR ARLENE PHILIPPS ANYDAY TO REPLACE HIM..COMMENTS WELCOME

  • Comment number 38.

Saucysue... I'm ringing the BBC on monday morning to complain about the way Len spoke to Craig. The number is on their website.

  • Comment number 39.

    Hi all,

It was a great show last night and yes Robin Windsor really knows how to secure votes we were unfourtunatley not treated to a bare chested Artem so step forward the sexy and delectable Robin though I mist admit he did flash the flesh from the safety of the VT to stop Bruno salivating over him and out of all the cheesy VT's I will forgive Robin and Anita.

Best couples of the night for by a mile was Harry and Aliona despite what Len said that Argentine Tango was filthy, sexy and dominant and I loved it should have gone to Specsavers Len this guy is demonstrating weeek after week why he derserves to be leader of the pack every week.

Chelsee and Pasha finalists for me definitley week after week they are coming out delivering top quality performances and they for me definitley deserve a place in this years final.

Anita and Robin Robin's sexy chest gets extra marks from me but move over Angela Rippon because there is new slinkier sexy Golden Girl in town Anita has legs that would put Angela Rippon to shame and also seductive brooding looks on par with Joan Collins in Dynasty fantastic job last night.

Question also why does it take so long for my analysis to get posted I'm very busy round the house looking after the place and I can't wait to see it get posted only 60% of it got posted love the site here but would like to see all of my post.

  • Comment number 40.

Saucysue @37 i think every one should complain about Len's comments and rudness to Craig which gets worse every week, he is biased towards Harry and Aliona which is clear for every one to see, he should stick with DWTS. time for Len to go

  • Comment number 41.

Now for the worst of the night for me and their were theree who didn't deliver.

Alex and James regrettably I hate to put them on my danger list technically nothing wrong with the jive but it lacked energy and drive it was more of a stop start jive for me one minute fast and energetic the next slow possibly her supporters will get her over the line this week.

Russell and Flavia now I know Russell has a huge fanbase with even Kylie Minogue supporting him but now it's just getting predictable in all honesty I was bored to be quite honest his camp routines were great to start off with but now they are just last weeks routine re-branded with a far more spraklier costume and even more sparklier props and some aspects are getting a bit to Ann Widdecombe like bragging about what's coming up next week so the public will vote for him.

Audley and Natalie he gave a whole new meaning to the word Cakewalk because frankly he just walked round the floor last night and in my honest opinion made no effort it's as if he's lost interest yes he got a severe bashing from the judges but the trouble is that if a couple gets a bashing from the judges the public can turn on the judges with their voting.

    Just a thought

I think I can solve the mystery behind Len's moods and it is not jetlag I like to keep updated with events with Strctly's US cousin Dancing With The Stars.

Apprantley Len has had a huge row with American pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovisky and apprantley this volatile US pro can get very vocal if he doesn't like what he hears and Len branded his Rumba with his celeb pro Hope Solo the worst dance of the night leading to a verbal sparring match between both men and this has been the most talked about story across America with the latest Maksim refusing to apologise to Len and Len threatning to resign from Dancing With The Stars.

Hope it clears that up there is always a reason behind everything if you dig enough you will get to the bottom of what is causing the tension.

  • Comment number 43.

It sounds like iplayer is causing a lot of you problems for watching last nights show. I haven't checked it out yet but why not see if yesterdays show has come out on Youtube yet. If not the full show you can type in the different dances and see if that works.

Harry & Aliona and Anita & Robin both did the Argentine Tango. Jason & Kristina did a Viennese Waltz. Chelsee & Pasha had a Foxtrot. Robbie & Ola and Russell & Flavia both did the American Smooth. Audley & Natalie did the Cha Cha Cha. Alex & James had the Jive. Artems injury meant he couldn't be on last night so Holly danced the rumba with Brendan. I hope that helps you out.

  • Comment number 44.

So I have to tend to the house do a bit of tidying up and my family is away at the races today and I have the workmen in doign work will be back later so my new ammended saves and danger list.

    Guranteed Saves

    Harry and Aliona
    Chelsee and Pasha
    Jason and Kristina
Holly and Brendan(Top 4 leaders of the pack and back in the game)

    Anita and Robin
Alex and James(Will be a wildcard she is a favourite with the public even though the jive was a bit slow)
Robbie and Ola(Great to see Robbie smiling again and loving what he is doing that American Smooth his best dance yet)

    Bottom Two

Russell and Flavia(Camp routines getting tiresome now what's he going to do next week I wonder him and Flavia be carried in on a throne by 4 topless hunky male dancers no more left to give)
Audley and Natalie(Out of his depth now and is going up against dancers who are upping their game and raising the bar every week early footbath and a taxi home I think for Audley)

If that list wasn't to happen and one or both in the bottom two were saved I would hate to see a bettre couple who can improve go out because the public prefer the synpathy vote over quality dancing let's hope we get a fair vote.

  • Comment number 45.

was he trying to upset Harry by pushing and flicking the back of his neck during the inteviews, perhaps he had been on the wine. This is not acceptable behaviour. Audley should sort him out.

  • Comment number 46.

Thanks Fergal. That is fascinating stuff. But, isn't it just one more reason why no judge should do both shows? I have never been able to understand why the BBC didn't put their foot down and tell Len to choose. The licence fee payers here deserve people who are totally committed to the job, not just trying to rake in as much loot as possible from America. Sorry, but Len completely lost me and a lot of other people last night. It was completely unacceptable - not just what he said - but his manner which was offensive and bad tempered throughout.

  • Comment number 47.

saucysue, ojtocs and Rob_coop, just made an official complaint to the beeb about Len. Spiteful, aggressive behaviour towards the best judge, or what? To be honest nearly filed one a couple of weeks ago when he said the best thing about a female celeb's dance was "being able to see up her skirt." That, coming from a 60 odd year old man was sleazy beyond belief.

  • Comment number 48.

I think everyone on the leaderboard are in the right place this week. Len was definitely suffering jet lag or something else. He has a serious problem this year with his uncalled for remarks. This is a family entertainment show and he needs to lighten up. I know he's passionate about dance but so are Craig and Bruno and they are entitled to their opinion. No point having 4 likeminded judges on the panel.

  • Comment number 49.

I don't necessarily believe that it is time to put Len out to grass but I have to agree that Len was off colour last night. Len had some issues with Alionas choreography for their waltz and even more so in their tango and he was justified on those occasions regardless of how it sounded but I can't defend him for what he said to Harry & Aliona last night.

I know (as Harry said) that Len is entitled to his opinion but his accusation that their Argentine Tango lacked passion was bemusing to say the least. That routine oozed passion and if he couldn't see that it makes me wonder what he was watching and for him to give Anita a higher mark than Harry was wrong because although it was respectable it wasn't on the same plain as Harry & Alionas.

If Len is like this because of Alionas comments in the early part of the series it is understandable but it isn't very professional. Len definetely needs to take a look at himself and if he has got issues with Aliona he should try and work it out with her rather than having an unnecessary pop and undermarking them whilst overmarking someone who didn't do as good a job

  • Comment number 50.

Alesha and the 10 paddle - makes a 10 worthless.

As others have said - Len gave a 7 to Russell and an 8 to Harry.

    Utterly ridiculous.

  • Comment number 51.

    Hi Flea
    How are you????
Haven't managed to watch SCD from last night was having my birthday party with friends (Didn't get Anton as a present though).
Don't forget he's on the results show tonight - getting excited. See you back on the team blog when the BBC decide to sort them out.

  • Comment number 52.

  • Comment number 53.

Couldn't agree more with those who think Karen Hardy would make a brilliant judge. Why not bring her as Head Judge and kill two birds with one stone: address the gender imbalance on the team + lower its average age.

  • Comment number 54.

Now I just went back to see Ricky Whittle's Argentine Tango and compared it with those we have seen this year. Real dramatic difference and the technical value knocks spots of this year. Awww the celebs this year need further inspiration IMO

  • Comment number 55.

Is there been any explanation as to why there are no team blogs? i have looked around but either I'm looking in wrong places or there hasn't been a reason given.

  • Comment number 56.

It's not ao much raking in the loot teddyandgypsy but the fact that Len is old school dancing he believes in the Closed Ballroom Championships and proper judging in my opinion.

But in America Len Goodman is in a den of pirahnas because the US pros unlike the our UK counterparts do not stand there and take the judges comments if a head judge such as Len gives a damming crtique of a couples routine on Dancing With The Stars he is going to get it both barrels from the US pro dancer.

I'm not saying there is different comparisons to the US pro dancers as opposed to the UK pro dancers but in my opinion the US pro dancers are more passionate and will gladly step into verbal slanging matches with the judges aprantley Len went on Good Morning America to voice his hurt over the comments made by Maksim Chemokovisky and from what I can read he took it personally and to heart.

    Just my thoughts

  • Comment number 57.

I also have looked at Maksim Chermokovsky on Dancing With The Stars and he looks like the more rougher and unpolite brother of Robin Windsor

  • Comment number 58.

Fergal: That's right Len is always telling off Aliona from series 7 he criticized her for showing off with her 1st partner Rav. This still continues....she should argue back!!! Also Alesha was really horrible to Matt Baker last year as well as Craig in series 7 who danced with Flavia. She said to Craig "I wish Zoe was here instead of you, she deserved to be here at Blackpool week...." If I was Craig I would have said "its a shame your here and Arlene is not" he might have been booted off immediately if he responded with that!!Notice how Alesha is scarred to criticize any partner of Ola, Brendan and James hhhmmm

  • Comment number 59.

Yes I remember that strictlystarlight 7 apprantley Alesha went one better not content with saying I wish Zoe was here than you during Blackpool week she actually said to Craig Kelly "Last week I thought we had some improvement and this week Grandad's back" so apprantley Alesha can dish it out when she wants to.

As far as I can see with Dancing With The Stars the US pro dancers like themselves to be seen as panto villains and with all US reality shows it's all about publicity and in my opinion on Dancing With The Stars it's not all about the judges or the celebs it's about the US pros.

Biggest example is that Maskim Cherokovisky is getting major publicity out of this and is milking it for all it is worth oh also Maxim Cherokovsky DWTS is not his first descent into reality TV he was The Bachelor on the Russian version of US dating reality show The Bachelor so the more publicity the better with this pro.

    Hi Everyone,
I enjoyed the show last night, thought Harry and Aliona were excellent with their argentine tango, they realy deserved to be top of the leaderboard this week, thought Chelsee and Pasha were brilliant also, why does she practice wearing no shoes? when you see her on i.t.t practising she never wears shoes, and if she does they are just flat shoes, surely she would do much better practising in shoes with heals, would help her get higher marks on the main show I think, I think this week that Audley and Natalie may go home, the cha, cha,cha they did was not good, I can see them being one of the bottom 2, not sure who else may be in the bottom, maybe Robbie, everyone else uped their game this week, I thought Anita and Robins argentine tango was realy good also anyway cant wait for the results show tonight, take care everyone, im off for a bath now, so I will be ready for strictly come dancing the results show
    take care

  • Comment number 61.

Len was wrong to mark Anita higher than Harry ,also very rude and sniping to a fellow judge . He does seem intent on finding fault with Harry and Aliona's routines ,but there is no excuse for rudeness!

  • Comment number 62.

Just back again to say that I still think Alesha is good (sorry). And I still think that although she's on the Panel, she's not a professional dancer, so she doesn't mark as a professional. Therefore she marks as an interested non-professional. We have three other people who accommodate the professional dancer view, and Alesha gives balance to the Panel.

  • Comment number 63.

My 8 year old daughter would like to know if 'sod' is a swear word. Is this a prime time family show???

  • Comment number 64.

    > Alisha gave him a get out and he snubbed her too
It was a nasty little outburst and it took him more than a few minutes to calm down. Len to publicly apologise I think.

  • Comment number 65.

So getting back to all things Strictly as I have been discussing it's US cousin Dancing With The Stars.

I stand by my predictions hope we get a fair vote this evening and in my opinion it's a toss up between Alex and James, Russell and Flavia and Audley and Natalie.

But early footbath and taxi home for Audley.

Comment later after the results show

Being a strictly fan, I am awed at the BBC keeping Len on the panel as a judge; let alone a head judge.
His constant loose tongue on such a respectable show should be corrected by the BBC control board,(Bruce does his best bless him) and his adolescent behaviour and remarks to the public audience, and watching millions is nothing but complete and total ignorance.

Like all of us he is entitled to his opinions, he is quick to call Craig names and he is always looking down his nose at Craig, and Bruno, frankly I am sick of seeing him there in his superior state.
What a refreshing change to see him missing last week for whatever reason, he should remember he is there to judge and mark, not appear bigoted as he so very often does.
I hope the BBC will soon find someone to take his place, Len is fast pushing my attention of this wonderful show in another direction, and I am seriously thinking on the night of strictly to move across to the other channel if only to get away from Len for an hour.
Please BBC give him 1 out of ten for judgment behaviour, and he doesn't even deserve that.

I also agree with all the folks on here, time to put Len out to grass, bring back Arlene, and make Craig head judge.

Just a heads up on who's going tonight so if you don't want to know look away NOW!...........The bookies have long since removed Audley from their betting on who can win it !!

  • Comment number 71.

mattzings@47 - Good for you complaining about Len- He is a professionl and should know how to behave like one- In my opinion Craig is probably the one that is most consistent with his scoring -Can you imagine Lens face if craig was to answer hime back or anyone else for that matter! Rob_COOP @ 40 and OJTOCS@38 we should all stick to our guns and not let Len get away with this- After reading everone else views I have decided to make my voice heard and make a official complaint about Len .

  • Comment number 72.

Good for you mattzings@47 let's start a petition, Len out Craig IN.

  • Comment number 73.

How can Alesha give a 10 when there is an obvious mistake?

  • Comment number 74.

Like Matt Baker, Jason can never do enough to satisfy the judges. Why is he expected to do so much better than say Russell - was that an American Smooth? Where was the lift then? Vastly overmarked. Time Russell went.

  • Comment number 75.

Oh yes....there were no lifts! I think there were no lifts for Russell due to his physical condition. He is still recovering from surgery.

  • Comment number 76.

If enough of us complain they might take some notice. I'm in for a petition, doubt if they'd allow it on here though...;)

  • Comment number 77.

I agree it was refreshing to watch last week without Len. Craig would make a great Head Judge. Len is too stroppy too often, ridicules the other judges comments and he literally looks down his nose, at Craig in particular. It's not nice to watch.

Back and forth to America every week is clearly taking its toll. He's been great in the past but his time has come.

    23. 13th Nov 2011, julieanne1811
The point Julieanne is that this is a dance competition. I don't want Alesha to reflect public opinion - I want an opinion from a person who actually knows all about dancing and for that person to tell us how the celebrity danced, where they went wrong and where they perfected the routine! Until she is removed, the panel isn't a proper judging panel. She just doesn't cut the mustard. Can't stand her but she probably won't be removed, the BBC is a public service (ha!) but since when do they take note of us!!?

  • Comment number 79.

Is it really worth putting all the hard work it to learn a dance, then get critisied by the judges for posture, the use of the hands, timing etc when Russel can come on prance about like an idiot, and go through on the viewers vote. AT THIS RATE HE COULD WIN, he might be entertaining but you have to think of the hard work the other competitors are putting in to try and master a dance.

Its not down to dancing anymore, come on BBC please get a grip.

  • Comment number 80.

Loved Saturdays show, but found Alesha a bit free & easy with the 10s again...
Len was rude & grumpy this week....Get rid of Alesha & Len & replace them with Arlene & the brilliant Karen Hardy & make Craig permanent head judge!!

  • Comment number 81.

I would just like to add my little bit in here about the judges. I couldn't agree more with moo-hi @80 about the judges. Craig is the only one I listen to these days, get Karen off the red button and behind the desk. I could just about cope with keeping Alesha if we have to.

  • Comment number 82.

Moo-hi @80 agree about Alesha and the tens its still too early to give them out!!!!!!
Agree about Craig being made head judge and bringing in Karen Hardy not Arlene as not a big fan!!!!!!!
Nephews have just asked who is Arlene????
They know Karen (even the 2 year old) as they watch ITT with mum and dogs!!!!!

  • Comment number 83.

Mattzings@76 agree with you needs somthing to make them take note of what the viewers are saying or do our views not count

  • Comment number 84.

Thank you 54. Strictlystarlight7 for that - I too LOVED Ricky's & Natalie's AT, it was GREAT. Since even people who usually voted for the other teams decided to vote for them after that semi final I can't help but thinking we are right. :) This year Team Hali really impressed me though.... Almost as good as Nat & Ricky, definitely better than Anita & Robbin. The difference (in my opinion) was bigger than the scores show... :)

  • Comment number 85.

Shame so much time is wasted on the cringe-worthy VTs rather than actual training footage & a decent amount of time for the judges to comment and be heard. (Not surprising Len gets cross, frustrated and misunderstood).

It then becomes hardly surprising when all the judges can manage are sound bites and any attempt at constrictive criticism is booed by the audience. Resulting in less progress by many of the couples than would have been shown by this stage in previous series. When helpful comments have been heard by the professionals who listen they are being worked on. Robbie's arm placement is a prime example.

  • Comment number 86.

Waht is is with Len ? I wish he (as the head judge) was more consistent with his comments and marking. So, in the first episode he could overlook a lift becuase he felt it went well with the routine although it he shouldn't have allowed it. Last Saturday he almost swore at Craig because Craig happened to disagree with his comments over Harry's routine. Come on Len, you couldn't pick on anything in Harry's routine because you addmitted it was clean, so it wasn't 'moody' enough for you? Len, please go back to the States.

  • Comment number 87.

Took your suggestion and called BBC complaints. They seemed a little overwhelmed, shall we say. Len, time to take the bus back to cockney geezer land and learn how to behave.

  • Comment number 88.

Len saw two Argentinian tangos on Saturday and gave Anita a 9 and Harry an 8.

He couldn't see Harry's intensity. Clearly he's blind, perhaps Claudia's "Len's Lens" is more literal than I'd thought.

Harry's dance was evidently the better in all regards, choreography, precision, execution and intensity. Len has undermarked an excessively criticised Harry in past weeks.

To give the best dance of the night only one more point that Russell's ridiculous cavorting shows that he's no more qualified to be head judge than he is a brain surgeon.

  • Comment number 89.

teddyandgypsy@14,34 Excellent news! Hope everyone who felt the same way on here, also did so. Power to the people, or at least the license payers!
Also complained about this constant making fun/putting down of Chelsee's class/accent etc. What the heck's that about?

  • Comment number 90.

I filled in a Complaint re Len's progressively deteriorating demeanour towards judges who disagree with him and the vicious manner in which he directed his remark towards Craig (not so much the wording but the attitude).

  • Comment number 91.

soixantdix @ 76 - thank you for your opinion, saying that this is a dance competition and that we don't want someone to represent the pubilc in the judges panel.

We can agree to disagree on this point, since it comes back to the age-old question of whether SCD is a dance competition or entertainment. For me it's both, not purely dance.

We have three professional judges so I think that having one who is just 'public' doesn't unbalance things at all. And, to be honest, wanting only professional dancers hasn't exactly worked so far, has it, since the three we have are making it a bit of a mess between them.

  • Comment number 92.

As someone in the US who follows both "Strictly" and "Dancing With the Stars", I enjoy "Strictly" more. So it disappoints me to see Len's obnoxious DWTS demeanor slipping into his behavior on "Strictly". Don't know if all the traveling at his age is wearing him out, but frankly, I'd like to see him replaced on both shows. He's made rude comments to celebrities on both shows, his bias against Aliona on "Strictly" is unprofessional, and his attack on Craig this past Saturday was appalling. I have complained to ABC about his behavior on DWTS and am glad to see "Strictly" viewers in the UK doing the same to the BBC.

  • Comment number 93.

I thought you might be interested in this. I went on the BBC complaints page (online) with the intention of emailing my complaint about Lens behaviour toward Craig. They have a complaints response section which says this: Complaint

We've received complaints from some viewers unhappy with Len's comment to Craig during Saturdays Strictly Come Dancing.

    The BBC's response

Strictly Come Dancing is a live show and this was an unscripted, off the cuff remark for which Len apologised on air immediately afterwards. As the show is live, exchanges between the judges can sometimes be animated. However, we appreciate some viewers found Len's comment uncalled for and out of character.

It dosnt sound like the BBC is too bothered by it!

  • Comment number 94.

This is the kind of bland arrogance that makes me want to tear up my license! I wonder how many "some viewers" is? "Animated" my a***!
Perhaps a complaint to offcom then?

  • Comment number 95.

Detlen... This is the response that I got after I filed a complaint. It doesn't cut the mustard with me!

  • Comment number 96.

Detlen and otjocs - same standard reply here and I complained about his progressively worsening attitude to judges who disagree with him not just his outburst on Saturday.

I'm debating whether to reply asking for a response to the the rest of my complaint.

  • Comment number 97.

I not only resent the whole tone of the response but them tacking on the 'out of character' part. Unfortunately it is getting to be too much 'in character' for Len.
I would be interested to see the numbers of complaints they got. If I dwelt on it the 'some viewers' would wind be up too - as if we are a small bunch of moaners!
He did apologise after Bruce brought him into line but then only for swearing - he should also have apologised to Craig for his attitude toward him. Then to the whole of the country for being such an hypocritical misery. He said on the results show regarding his comments about Harry dance. That it's like brussel sprouts - a matter of personal taste (which is quite true) but then turned on Craig for having different taste to him!

  • Comment number 98.

I've just fired off a complaint about the response. I can't stand this kind of supercilious attitude to the license payers.
They implied it was a one off, they implied it was like a tiff. No, no no!
    He's like Jekyll and Hyde!

  • Comment number 99.

I've made a complaint about the response as well. I've said that the problem is that it's not a one off neither is it out of character. Not giving up until I get a sensible response from the BBC!

  • Comment number 100.

Mattzings @ 98 and ojtocs @ 99 just fired off a complaint as well stating its not out of character for Len but becoming the norm
