Patsy Kensit Leaves Strictly

Post categories:

BBC Eurovision Andrew BBC Eurovision Andrew | 20:00 UK time, Sunday, 28 November 2010

Patsy Kensit and Robin WIndsor became the eighth couple to leave this year's contest, ending their Strictly journey just three weeks before the grand final. The couple performed an Argentine Tango last night to a mixed reception from the judges, but were eliminated from the competition by a combination of the judges' scores and the public vote.

The Strictly web team were on the dancefloor when the announcement was made, and caught up with a host of Strictly faces for their reactions to the news.

Watch our exclusive video here and let us know your thoughts on tonight's results by leaving a comment below.

The warmth and affection between Patsy & Robin made their partnership so endearing and gave their performances such sincerity. I hope Patsy can leave with new found self confidence and plenty of happy memories.

No doubt the hysteria regarding Ann will escalate now. Why? I don’t know. And I suspect it only serves to make her fans even more determined.

Anyone who decided to tune into Strictly knowing full well that Ann was participating had effectively accepted that there was the possibility (however remote) that she could go far, or even win. Everyone was aware of the format when they agreed to watch, so it seems strange complaining about it now. Ann is playing buy the rules and her fans are exercising their right to vote for their ‘favourite’ like we’re asked to.

So long as the celebrities are of different ages, fitness levels and starting abilities, and so long as the audience (who aren’t dance experts) are given a say, Strictly will NEVER be considered a pure dance competition (regardless of whether the word DANCING appears in the show title - which I’ll no doubt be reminded of!).

  • Comment number 2.

Gavin or Ann should have gone and not Patsy, at least Patsy can dance.
God help us if either of these get through when they have to do 2 dances. It will be unbareable to watch.

  • Comment number 3.

Very sorry to see Patsy go.

Again Anne has the public vote, yes she is funny to watch and far more amusing than boring Scott ( sorry cant help it i just do not like his dancing!!). Is the public willing to go that far to put her in the final?

  • Comment number 4.

Bitter shame to see Patsy go. She had the time of her life and danced a million times better than she believed. And still the problem remains. Time to have a look at the phone numbers now I think.

  • Comment number 5.

Ann or Gavin should have gone this week, gutted for Patsy and Robin!!!!!

  • Comment number 6.

Once again the biased Welsh vote has stopped Gavin from leaving. A total injustice to Patsy Kensit who was streets ahead of him.

  • Comment number 7.

It is dreadful that patsy has gone, she was doing so well. Also what on earth are the british public doing keeping Ann Widdecombe in, she can not dance and is making a complete joke out of the whole show, they are getting rid of good dancers to keep Ann making a mockery of the programme, it is completely outrageous and down right rediculous.

This is slightly off topic but my Mum wants to know where Tess got her dress from! How can I find out?

  • Comment number 9.

I am really gutted to see Patsy and Robin leave this evening. Again, AW won the public vote but I feel it is time for her to leave, it isn't fair on the others as it is a dancing competition.
    Go Kara and Artem.

  • Comment number 10.

I can't believe that Patsy and Robin have left the show tonight. It was totally the wrong couple to go!! I am absoulutely guttered as I thought that Patsy was improving her dancing week after week.
She may have seem to have the wrong dances at some weeks but at least she was giving them a go!!
People like Ann and Gavin going through just shows that the wrong dancers are going through to the next week!
So Sorry for Patsy and Robin to left. I hope they both carry on dancing!!

  • Comment number 11.

I don't think Patsy deserved to go tonight, Ann should have been voted off, I thought this was a dance competition. I enjoy Saturday night entertainment on the tele but I am not convinced I will be watching next year if Ann stays in.
But my four year old daughter has become a huge Brucie fan and looks forward to watching him every Saturday and is disappointed when he is not there on Sunday, Bruce you are a legend!!

  • Comment number 12.

Ann and Anton must be recieving the highest vote from the public as was John Seargant and Chris and all the well deserved winners. She will win and strictly will continue as a great entertaiment show. It is not a DANCE competition Its fun as It's A Knockout etc. was. If you want to watch a serious DANCE competition then go to one.

Sid79 wrote No doubt the Hysteria regarding Ann will escalete now. Why? And I suspect it only serves to make her fans even more determined.
Apparantly he is not aware that she is only getting through due to a competion being run by certain universities trying to get the worst contestant through to the finals. For his information the competion the uni's are running is to get either Ann through on strictly or Wagner through on the X factor. She can't dance and she should quit now!!!!

  • Comment number 15.

Sorry to see Patsy go...I really warmed to her as the series went on and her confidence really grew...well done girl you did yourself proud :)

  • Comment number 16.

I have always watched with the assumption that Strictly was a DANCING competition. If Ann goes any further it makes a nonsense of the programme. The thought of a final with Ann 'dancing' makes me shudder and spoils the whole experience for me. If she does I won't be watching again. I love Anton but feel sad for those dancers with talent who have been sacrificed for them. I don't understand why people vote for her. Please explain.....

  • Comment number 17.

This is now getting stupid. How can this be called a dance show when Anne is still there. I like many may start to wash my hair when this show is on. It makes a mockery of the judges comments and must be soo hard for the real dancers to accept. Why are you people voting for the ex MP.

  • Comment number 18.

Ok go on then public vote all the others off, and make widdecome WIN IT.!!! Then your farse will be complete, and you'll all be mind warpingly HAPPY.!!. As a dance fan i can only extend my heartfelt sympathy, to the WAY WAY better celebrity dancers that have been sacrificed up to this point. Tired of this mess now. !

  • Comment number 19.

How can ann and john seargant be considered in the same way as "all the well deserved winners". If ann wins it will make the whole programme a joke, she doesn't even attempt to dance, she just lets anton do all the work!!!! I think its more that Anton has a big fan base to keep them in, I'd like to see Anton win the competition but with somebody who deserves their place in the competition not with Ann Widecome.

  • Comment number 20.

once again ann w ha had the tory whip out to get people voting for her, an absolute disgrace that she is still n the competition.if she had anything about her she'd go.

  • Comment number 21.

    No comment - sadly

  • Comment number 22.

How can the public still be voting for Gavin? He can't dance. Is this a dance competition or a comedy show with extra points for orangeness? Why has a great dancer gone out? And, yes, I mean a great dancer. Patsy was undoubtedly the finest dancer ever to grace our screens.

Henson is the new Sergeant. When will he do the honourable thing and resing? He's already gone futher than he has any right to?

Isn't it about time there was a stop put to the Welsh block vote so that real dance voters get triple value votes to avoid this farce?

  • Comment number 23.

greenApples95 if you are a dance fan then go and watch a dance competition. I am an ex golf pro I enjoy watching the antics of amatuer golfers but if I want to see proper golf I go to a golf competition. In the words of the Meerkat ITS SIMPLE SQEAK.

  • Comment number 24.

Comment numbefr 12 - what part of the title do you not understand - its Strictly Come Dancing so obviously it is a dancing show!!!

  • Comment number 25.

Ann and Anton for the win!

  • Comment number 26.

I'm so disappointed that Patsy won't be dancing next week. I've loved watching her gain confidence and improve her dancing each week. She may not have been the best dancer, but she had the best attitude and she should be proud of everything she achieved. She was one of my highlights on the show each week :(

  • Comment number 27.

  • Comment number 28.

Time for Arfur Derek Brown (aka Anton Du Beke) to resign from the show for the sake of his fellow professional dancers who are being elimated due to the obvious massive vote for him and his "dancing partner"

It would be a shame if someone so useless won the trophy!!!!

  • Comment number 29.

If Anton du Beke isn't on the next New Year's Honours list, then there is no justice! To take on AW and still manage to entertain, despite her complete lack of anything resembling dance, deserves a medal of the highest order.

  • Comment number 30.

True, I have seen Patsy dance better on previous weeks, but no way did she deserve to leave tonight. Anne should have gone weeks ago. I fear for next year; if 2010 ends with Anne going any further, will viewers be put off from getting involved next year? Will Strictly have done itself more harm (for the future) than good??

  • Comment number 31.

The weeks are passing by and still Ann is in the competition.
I love strictly for what it is but cant help wondering whether the dancing competition has been replaced by a comedy of errors!

I am really concerned that Ann will now win the competition and that would be so unjust given that the other celebrities have worked to hard to achieve perfection.

John Saregent did the right thing by retiring from the show and its now Ann's turn, but sadly she's too full of herself.

  • Comment number 32.

lewisca you said it all it is a show with dancing in it. The generation game was a show with acting in it. Like the MP's some people on here do just not get it.

  • Comment number 33.

    Comment 26 - hear hear! :)

  • Comment number 34.

Ann cant dance either but the public are voting for her, at least Gavin is trying, I just cant understand who is voting for ann cos all the comment on here and other social network pages want her out

  • Comment number 35.

To: Sid1979 - although I hate what Ann/Anton are doing to this show (no dancing/too many probs/too much comedy), the worst thing is her arrogance and the way she speaks to Craig. If it is a family entertainment show as she calls SCD, then she is setting children a bad example by mocking the judges and their comments, and it's not pleasant.

To: lesleybutt - you say anyone wanting to watch proper dancing, should watch a dance show and not SCD. The only thing is that before long, SCD will have hardly any dancing steps, the celebrities will all be hopeless like Ann, there will be so many props, judges won't be needed, etc etc.

Please, everyone who voted for all those who have left, carry on voting for someone who can dance, as it would be such a shame for one of the 'big' four to go.

  • Comment number 36.

When is Ann Widdecombe going to go.The show is going like the titanic sinking fast to Davy Jones's locker.

  • Comment number 37.

I say go back to original format as I don't think this one is working out. Because we are starting to lose Dancers and keeping what should have been a celebrity doing a Children in need one off . I think I will stop watching if Anne Widdicombe gets to the final.

  • Comment number 38.

sorry to see Patsy and Robin go. Patsy has danced better and better every week, not something we can say about everyone. Pamela and James were brilliant. my two year old grandaughter was dancing along. Had to keep rewinding for her to keep dancing.

    Pamela and James to win.

  • Comment number 39.

    Message 34 (jantaff)

I'm not sure Gavin put a great deal of effort into his Jive training this week. He spent the entire time muttering how much he hated it.

I'm not keen on either, but given a choice between watching Ann's performances and interviews or Gavin's, I'd pick Ann's!!

  • Comment number 40.

What I fail to understand is how Ann had the nerve tonight to join the others in the consolation huddle around Patsy after the 'goodbye' dance - she obviously has no conscience. Incidentally, I thin Anton deserves a medal.

  • Comment number 41.

Oh come on please. Ann should of gone ages ago. The programme is called " Stickly Come Dancing". NOT walk around with Anton. She doesnt dance, she objects to everything Anton says. No open shirts no wiggles. Whats wrong with the woman.

  • Comment number 42.

Disagree with you susie45 in saying Ann is setting a bad example. Some of the judges leave a lot to be desired on that count. Ann is a very inteligent and very clever ex politician who could most probably leave most of the judges speechless if she realy tried.

  • Comment number 43.

BBC Strictly Andrew - how are the celebs choosen to go on the show?

  • Comment number 44.

Stavrosian message 25 You must be joking

  • Comment number 45.

The morons who are voting for AW are also voting for Wagner, just to prove a point of their strength. AW is delusional if she thinks she is well liked, people are having a laugh at her expense, and poor Anton! I won't be voting, I just won't be watching !

  • Comment number 46.

Patsy was very unlucky. She should have been judged above Scott but the gang of four contrived to give him 31! Er ... 9's for a very poor AS .... why?

  • Comment number 47.

Ok what would it be like if Kara Tointon was to be voted off in front of widdecome. The lass is a class act, fantastic skill and movement tells the story and conveys the mood, and the fun element of any given routine they've put in front of her.Simply excellent.

  • Comment number 48.

I think Ann has got to cocky for her own good, i have taken to muting her interviews on take 2 and making a cuppa during her dances!!! She doesn't give the judges the chance to speak without butting in and is using the papers to tease whoever it is whose voting her by sayin what you might see if they reach the final. If she had so much confidence in the public voting she wouldnt need to stoop to such levels. Definately about time she left.

    Kara to win!!!!

  • Comment number 49.

Comment 46 totally agree - Scott and Natalie well and truly over marked for AS

  • Comment number 50.

Bring back the dance off! At least that way we would have lost Gavin the plank this week and not Patsy who was so much better.

  • Comment number 51.

    Message 35 (Susie45)

I agree that Ann came across as far too sure of herself this week. But if Craig can dish it, he's got to be prepared to take it. He's hardly a role model himself.

  • Comment number 52.

There is never any surprise when the final result is announced, because the first person who is named as being in the last two, always turns out to be in last place.

Despite the apparent criticism with regard to Ann Widdecombe still being in the competition, I think it is important to remember that Strictly is an entertainment show and not an Olympic event. Also, I have to say that I did not used to have much time for Anton, but since seeing the way he copes with Ann has made me change my point of view.

  • Comment number 53.

I love strictly but just cant get on board with the lack of the dance off - having said that, at the moment that still wouldn't get Ann off our screens. Yes sadly, as many have said, it is mainly about the public vote now, though the fact that so many members of the public choose to vote for that vile, rude little woman is beyond me. Love Anton, he is hilarious, but she needs to go.

So glad the fab four are still in, love them all, would be hard to pick a winner, but I do think Artem is the most original in terms of choreography, I find all their dances memorable, re-watchable and mesmerizing (especially the Argentine Tango).

    Roll on next week...

  • Comment number 54.

Dear Patsy - Thank you! You have brought my husband and I, 9 weeks of absolute pleasure with your wonderful attitude, enthusiasm and beautiful smiling face. It has been a joy to watch you progressing so well with your dancing each week. We're both gutted that you have had to leave when there are others who can't dance half as well as you.

Dear BBC - SCD has become a travesty, either it is a dance competition or an entertainment show. It isn't fair to those taking part and working so hard to master the routines to confuse the format. Definitely going down the tubes and we've followed every series - looks like it could be the last. Very, very disappointed!!

  • Comment number 55.

RIP Strictly. Tonight was the last straw. Strictly fans, all you can do now is the following: inundate the BBC complaints department (see the one below which we sent earlier today, before we knew tonight's result), then refuse to watch any more so that their ratings plummet. I know this will be hard, because it feels like abandoning the hardworking celebs, but lets face it, they are probably all going to be sacrificed at the alter of Ann Widdecome and her ego anyway. Its the only way to fight back - hit the BBC where it hurts by refusing to watch. Quite honestly, who wants to watch now anyway - Widdecome and Gavin Henson in the final 6 - what a joke. Good luck with the complaints - go to bbc.co.uk/complaints and give it to them with both barrels!! I'll be interested to see if my official complaint below gets past the blog moderators.
'I have two complaints. The first is about the apparent decision, though not communicated to the wider audience, to 'dumb down' this show to the level of 'entertainment' rather than a dance competition. The second complaint is that given the fact that 'entertainment' now seems to be the prime factor, the four judges on the show seem to have no idea of what their role now is, and are inconsistent and unjustified in their awarding of marks. Some contestants are marked by technical ability, while others are awarded marks for 'entertainment value'. This is grossly unfair to the contestants and to the licence paying public who are entitled to know what they are watching, especially when they are being asked to pay for telephone voting.
In more detail, my first complaint relates to the farce that is Anne Widdecome, and the fact that in trying to raise audience ratings, a media monkey at the BBC seems to have thought she would be 'a good laugh'. In fact she is an unmitigated disaster - far from entertaining, she is embarrassing to watch, and an insult to both the other contestants and to the millions of devoted fans of this programme who look forward to it every year. You may argue that audience numbers have gone up - I would argue this is because you have sensibly scheduled the programme so that it doesn't clash with X Factor this year, plus apart from Anne Widdecome the current celebrities are some of the best you have ever had on the show. I would like to ask - does anyone at the BBC actually read the comments on the Strictly blog? If so you will see that about 95% are impassioned pleas to restore the show to its former glory. What do the BBC have in mind next - University Challenge with a team of 6 year olds from a local Primary School; Masterchef with a contestant who can't even make beans on toast; Top Gear's Star in a Fast Car with someone who can't drive...... the possibilities are endless. The decision to include Anne Widdecome was clearly taken to be a bit of a laugh, but the laugh is now on the BBC, as her continued assault on the programme threatens to destroy it for ever - so many fans who have watched from the beginning are so disillusioned that they won't watch any more.
I would also like to ask what safeguards the BBC have to make sure that there is not a concerted campaign to keep her in from a small minority of the population intent on ruining the programme - the same ones voting in Wagner on X Factor and downloading the 'Rage Against the Machine' single last Christmas. It is all very well having a public vote, as long as the public feels that the vote is fair and safe from malpractice. At the moment, there is a strong suggestion that the BBC is profiting from some rather questionable tactics by certain members of the public.
Relating to my second complaint, I would like to point out that if the show is now purely for entertainment, there is no point in having any judges at all. Their views are rendered completely redundant, and most of them now comment more on the 'entertainment' value than any dance technique. As a result, their scoring is now haphazard and controversial - for example Len Goodman scoring Kara Tointon's amazing American Smooth last week as a 6, and giving Ann Widdecome's derisory attempt at dancing a 5 for 'entertainment value'. Finally, it is absolutely obvious that there is a 'three line whip' in place at the BBC when referring to Anne Widdecome, so that no criticism of her is to be allowed. For example, in 'It Takes Two', Karen Hardy analyses the dances from the previous Saturday's programme, but Anne was conveniently left out; her costumes are never discussed; until this week she was always the last to 'perform' on the show; and Claudia and Tess frequently mention her amid lots of giggling and 'Isn't she a good laugh' type banter. Well actually, NO, she is NOT a good laugh - it is cringeing, shameful, humiliating and embarrassing, and totally unworthy of the BBC for her to have any place in the show.
Last year lots of flawed decisions were made regarding Strictly, and happily this year it seemed that the BBC had acknowledged this and tried to get back on the right track with the programme, but the decision to include Anne Widdecome threatens to ruin the programme for good.
I look forward to your reply - no doubt it will be some patronising rubbish about how Strictly has always been entertainment first. All I would say is - read the blogs - they will tell you everything you need to know.'

  • Comment number 56.

Why oh why is AW still in the competition? To see Patsy leave is shameful. AW, if she has a shred of decency in her body, should do a (JS)"Sergeant" and leave with dignity. AW is showing a selfish attitude and should bow out in favour persons who can actually DANCE! To remain in the competition undermines the respect in which the competition is held!
    G&SH

  • Comment number 57.

Ann is going to win this competition. That will be apotheosis of democracy and the end of show.
If the winner of dance competition cannot dance the competition doesn't make any sense.

  • Comment number 58.

Incidentally, I still think Pamela & James were the most over-marked couple this week.

Scott's 9's were silly but he was ranked in pretty much the correct position. There's no way Pamela was the best of the night, or even second best.

  • Comment number 59.

Gutted that Patsy and Robin have gone. Is this a repeat of the first ever series when Christopher Parker got to the final - i really hope Ann doesn't get that far - it will spoil the final for me.

Come on Kara and Artem - you can do it..... :-)

  • Comment number 60.

Which "original format"? You presumably know enough to know enough that the dance off is a new invention, and in the original programme there was no dance off?

  • Comment number 61.

totally agree with you loopidancer - see my post no. 28 - time for Arfur Derek Brown to resign and let's hope he gets a proper partner next year.

  • Comment number 62.

So sad to see Patsy and Robin go, her effort and determination to do well was wonderful to see, as well as her genuine shock at the public support. I am so pleased she got to do her favourite dance.
Hold your head high, you look fantastic and you weren't the worst dancer by a long shot! xx

  • Comment number 63.

Hi I am absolutely gutted that Patsy has been voted out.How on earth can the bbc keep letting Ann Widdi stay in.If she IS NOT OUT next week irefuse to watch it.She is not dancing just been dragged around the floor like acleaner. The dance floors should be well polished with Widdies Knickers. How can you let people like Kara, pam, and the other who are dancers be voted off.IT IS ALL WRONG SO UNFAIR NOT A COMPETION A FARCE.

Do you have any sources for this information, as University folk elsewhere do not believe it. Although to me it seems like just the sort of thing that would be done "for the experiment" if nothing else.

So sorry to see Patsy and Robin out, they were a good team.

I see Anne has seen off another better dancer. Perhaps Anton can choreograph another nautical routine, Anne could play Dreadnought, then hopefully someone will sink her before she completely ruins Strictly. If she wins this year it will be the end of Strictly, unless of course they have 14 couples trying to play the fool next year - I wouldn't put it past Ross to arrange that.

  • Comment number 67.

I was so sorry Patsy went out tonight. Who votes for AW? Gavin isn't much better either. I think it should be down to the judges as it was before and have a dance off. If AW wins this competition I shall never watch another series. Pity because it's my favourite show.!

  • Comment number 68.

Well done Patsy. Your efforts this weekend on just 5 hours show others up and you went after the dance you always wanted to do.

Shame some people think it is highly amusing to reward humiliation over endeavour.

hav the voting public gone mad ann kept in again losing good dancers boring boring thought it was a dance contest not watching anymore

  • Comment number 72.

We are all watching a dance competition, the BBC need to re-think the voting format if they do another series next year.
In my opinion Ann should never have been included in the programme.
It is a travesty that Ann Widdicombe is still in the competition and as a result good dancers have been sacrificed over the weeks.
Next week is the start of the quarter finals.
She should do the decent thing and resign. Ann performs pantomine not dance and if this farce continues the BBC are in danger of losing viewers to other channels. I watch this in preference to the X Factor as I have a lot of admiration for the celebrities abilities to execute a new dance each week.
If Ann Widdicombe continues, I feel that the viewing public who watch it for the dancing skills will lose interest and vote with their remote controls!!!
Please get real BBC and provide the viewing public with what we expect to see, which is DANCE not FARCE.
By the way, keep up the good work Brucie, a true professional.

Oh Sid, don't, they don't need any encouragement!

    LOL

  • Comment number 74.

Patsy personified the spirit of the show and I am sorry to see her go. She knew her limitations but tried as hard as she possibly could to overcome them. Watching her improve was a veritable delight. Ann Widdecombe, on the other hand, does not appear to want to improve. She treats criticism with disdain and embarrasses not only herself but her brilliant partner, Anton du Beke.

what exactly do you want to complain about, we all know that Strictly is a how that teaches non dancers to dance, competitors are a random selection of "celebs"

The bbc never billed it as a serious dance competion just that in previous years the worse dancers have been voted off or in JS case resigned.

Unfortunatley this year the GBP in there infinate wisdom deem it acceptable to keep voting for AW in their 1000's, it isn't the beeb's fault ok you may say they should not have asked but how did they know that she would a) be so dire and b) the gbp would vote for her? answer is they don't.

If it was a serious competion then all clebs asked would be on an eaqual footing from the start, same age, health, fitness etc, and if that was the case then Pamela wouldn't have been asken nor Felicity.

This issue is not the fault of the BBC nor how the show works as the 1st couple of series were all voted for by judges then calls there was no dance off, hence we have had the likes of Julian Clary and that Chris guy getting into the semis. The dance off woudln't have knocked out AW as she has never been in the bottom 2.

Enjoy the show for what it is, a saturday evening family show>

I woud love to see Anton win SCD but it would be a hollow victory if he won with Ann!

  • Comment number 77.

I almost broke the televison tonight with frustration. Is there something the public do not know about Ann & Anton. Are the BBC mad.?
Ann, you should have more dignity and drop out. The other dancers must be saints to smile when you are saved. The other couples take it seriously but from the clips we see ,neither you or Anton are. I am disappointed in you Anton a professional, to go along with this farce. At first I felt sorry for you to be lumbered with Anne but as the weeks go on I can only assume you are enjoying it.! As for the public that are voting for you both they must be purposely trying to sabotage a good show.

This programme does not make sense with two people who cannot dance go through to the next round, come on BBC get a grip, you need to ensure that it is the judges who have the final say in who is the best of the bottom two, I know why dont you have a dance off!!!!!!

Ann Widecombe and Gavin Henson are not good dancers (or good at attempting to dance) and I would go as far to say poor entertainment, so embarrasing to even watch them. I am please that the judges, Craig and Len speak the truth when providing feed back, what a load of rubbish.

maybe if the viewers were voting for who they wanted to leave then anne w might go?

Sorry you have gone, Patsy.Pleeease dont go on television and say that AW should win etc etc.The programme is becoming unbearable, made worse by all the sycophantic remarks. I thought your AT was romantic and engaging.

I am such a huge fan of Strictly and we have even changed our flights so that I don't miss the final (assume Saturday 18th December ?). BUT, sadly, if Anne Widdecombe gets to the final, or God forbid, wins it, I will NEVER, EVER, watch the programme again. And I think a lot of people will feel the same. I do hope "the powers that be" at the BBC are taking note of all the comments in the blog, because they could be faced with a huge drop in viewing figures next year. How sad would that be. They need to think very carefully about their reasons for allowing someone like her to enter the show - funny as it might appear to some. It reminds me of the "village idiot" scenario in England in the 1700 or 1800s, when we put the poor devil in a ring and bated him/her and laughed and jeered at them. Why can't Anne see it - she's an intelligent woman, but obviously very arrogant? I do hope that sense prevails in the end and we get a worthy winner, eg, Kara, Matt, Scott or Pamela.

We have just sent this as a complaint to the BBC about SCD. Why don't you do one too?! ANN TO GO!

In allowing Ann to continue on Strictly Come Dancing the whole programme is made a mockery of. Granted it is a light entertainment programme, but why if dancing appears in the title of the show can one of the competitors get as far as the quarter finals without dancing? The show is fatally flawed, and along with many thousands of viewers, I will not be tuning in again to watch well prepared, well intentioned celebrities being thrown off the show in favour of a self-seeking, self-serving, self publicist.

The BBC has made a massive mistake here.

Patsy, an honest comment, you were not good enough to win. However you were far better than AW and better than Gav also. You clearly loved the show, please show this in your comments, be honest and open...

Pat - comment 77 - I think you are right. I have a workmate who is a keen gambler and he said the word is - that's exactly what is happening to Strictly and X Factor - sabbotage is at work - he reckons he's seen it at the "bookies".

Grace, elegance, technique, coordination and energy : Patsy showed it all. She certainly did not deserve being voted out. It just is not fair! How on earth can Ann and Gavin still be in the competition? Shall we have a final with the most clumsy and spineless dancers - oh, sorry, did I say dancers???

I actually think it's great that people like Ann and Paul Daniels are invited to participate in a dance show (and older people like Felicity/Pamela). The whole point of the show, surely, is that people vote for those celebrities who improve and manage to learn to dance, while putting in a lot of hard and long training. Ann is the exception, for example, she never sweats, is never out of breath - why? because she is barely walking through the dances.

As for lesleybutt (42) yes, Ann is a very clever politician but I do not like her attitude towards the judges - none of the celebs behave the way she does; they all accept the criticism given to them.

What if someone like Ann was on Masterchef (a cookery programme or light entertainment show???) and winners were voted by the public, would it matter if she couldn't cook, didn't try to learn to cook, and made the cooking into a comedy act?

Re 75 flyingpolestar - get real, do you seriously think the BBc had no idea that she would be useless, or that after the John Sergeant fiasco they didn't know that certain elements of the public would deliberately vote for her? My complaint is that the BBC absolutely DID know what they were doing when they asked her on, in a cynical ploy to get their ratings up. They have effectively started a telephone war where people who want AW out have no choice but to vote for the others - hence lining the pockets of the BBC very nicely. Surely you can't be so naive. My other complaint is that at some point (probably when John Sergeant was making them lots of money) they decided to get rid of Arlene Philipps and turn Strictly into just another trashy 'entertainment' show - without actually consulting anyone about it, and going about it in a thoroughly underhand way - they also got rid of lots of the established dancers too. For whatever reason, the producers seem to have decided to ruin what used to be one of the jewels in its crown in the run up to Christmas, and defend what they have done in the name of 'entertainment'. I am not asking for the dance off to return, but think there should be more weighting given to the judges scores, the scores should reflect dancing ability, and that the BBC should stop trying to rip the licence paying audience off in such a cynical way.

Rubbish and a travesty of the hard work given to the BBC by Bruce Forsyth during his career. It has become a comedy show not a family entertainment of serious hard working dancers. BBC you should be ashamed, as I am.

  • Comment number 95.

Enough BBC! I was genuinely sad to see Patsy leave. A thoroughly gracious lady who has given her all, improved enormously, and without any 'gimmicks' or stupid so-called funny comments to the judges and trying to take centre stage (unlike Ms Widdicombe)
Poor and inconsistent judging and an attempt to raise ratings in a cheap manner has become shambolic BBC - you should be ashamed.

Yet again the truly awful AW is through, but has anyone acually thought that JUST maybe the public are not voting for her and it is the BBC putting her through. Lets face it it is certainly causing a lot of reaction. The BBC are getting the viewing audience which at the end of the day is what they want and I am convinced AW will win this.
It is a real shame that the effort the other dancers have put in is not being recognised and AW should not be allowed to continue as she refuses to do certain moves fow which other dancers get points deducted.
