  • Comment number 1.

I feel slightly sorry for Katya. As nice as Phil was and as decent a chap as Gavin is (despite the vanity part, lol).. I just think that she has yet another up-hill struggle with getting her celeb to a standard where he can actually compete properly with the other celebs. And while of course I know there is absolutely no shame at all for Gavin to be competing on the level that is achievable for him right at this minute, I'm not sure how long that level will allow him to progress further in the competition.

I sympathise entirely that Gavin is out of his comfort zone but just feel that Katya is going to have to search abit deeper (than some of the other Pros with their celebs perhaps) in which to bring out the dancer in him which I'm sure, somewhere, is lurking deep within. Being less concious would help him greatly.

He's okay at the Ballroom so its not all bad (though obviously needs to apply more difficulty).. and I just hope he can get a breakthrough with the Latin. Good luck to both of them.

  • Comment number 2.

Thank you for choosing Team Gatya to use. I, for one, am estatic at you using the name I managed to conjure up and put on twitter, and I know Katya will be really pleased :) (I hope anyway!)

  • Comment number 3.

    oh and www.twitter.com/teamgatya

  • Comment number 4.

I was pleasantly surprised by Gavin's waltz, but winced slightly at his salsa. In my humble opinion, the sooner Katya gets him an acting lesson, the better. I think if he could lose the self-consciousness, he could be a decent dancer.

  • Comment number 5.

come on gavin, you look great, relax and enjoy and you'll be fantastic

  • Comment number 6.

i really hope they do well tonight
good luck guys. pob lwc gavin a katya!!

  • Comment number 7.

Gav we love you, call on your competitive edge and you will nail it!!

  • Comment number 8.

The judges are way too hard on Gavin - he was much better than Ann (although she is entertaining) and Craig gave them the same mark. Prove them wrong Gavin and keep trying - we all think you are fab!

  • Comment number 9.

Watching Gavin on another programme - you should bring that competitivness onto the dance floor. We know its hard when your a shy quiet person but we all have faith. Don't panic :-)

  • Comment number 10.

This comment was removed because the moderators found it broke the house rules. Explain.

  • Comment number 11.

This is a purely selfish comment. You're legs are a dream. Get Gavin to an acting coach and smash his posing mirror. I can't see it helping but?.......

  • Comment number 12.

Katya needs to look back at Mark Ramps as he was shy at first perhaps this will help Gavin, failing that perhaps some hypnosis, hope they survive the vote off

  • Comment number 13.

I'm glad he's survived actually, as I can't help think that until he becomes less self concious and just goes for it we will never really get to see if he could be any good. Hopef Katya can find a way through!

  • Comment number 14.

Gavin's waltz was beautiful so he can dance, he just seems very uncomfortable with the latin dances. Gethin Jones suffered from the same thing and in the end Camilla sent him to an acting class. The difference in his latin dances after that was incredible. Perhaps Gavin should try the same thing.

  • Comment number 15.

I think Gavin has real potential, especially in the ballroom dances. I'm looking forward to the Tango this week, and hope they will pull it off!
Gavin just needs to put all the aggression and anger he has on the rugby pitch into the tango and it will be fabulous!!!
Hopefully it will be 4th time lucky this week and Craig won't need to give them a 3 like he has for the last two dances!
    Come on team Gatya!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment number 16.

I think Craig was really wrong to give Gavin and Katya a 3, never mind 2 weeks in a row!!!
I don't vote on the dancing or where people are on the leader board anyway, I just vote for Gavin and Katya about 10 times instead!!

  • Comment number 17.

I love watching Gavin and Katya on strictly this year and can't imagine them not in the competition, so everyone get voting for them on Saturday, and keep them in, because last week was too close for comfort....

  • Comment number 18.

hopefully Katya will knock him into confidence and brilliance! (even more brilliant!)

want to se more of those muscles!

  • Comment number 19.

Totally agree with all the positive and supportive comments about Gavin and Katya on here!

I think he is really trying and to me does not come across as vain and selfish, as the newspapers seem to be suggesting. I never used to rate him before, but ever since watching 71 degrees north I have really changed my opinion of him. Proving that you should not just judge people on appearance!

He reminds me of how Gethin Jones was at the beginning of series 5, very self conscious! It's a shame as I agree with the judges and think he does have potential. At least he tries to dance, unlike Ann Widdecombe!

I hope people vote for them as I think Katya is brilliant and they really are the most lovely couple and genuinely seem to care about each other and the competition!

  • Comment number 20.

I think everyone is putting to much pressure on Gavin. Just because the last two rugby players on the show were top of the leader board-show off-fantastic doesn't mean all of them will be. I'm not saying Gavin will never be fantastic, cus i'm sure he will be one day, but just because he's not quite there yet dosn't mean he's not a good dancer.
On top of that, the standard is so high this year that is makes Gavin look not as good as he really is. He has also been lower down on the leader board than he should really be, as a result.

  • Comment number 21.

What a refreshing change to discover a celebrity who is genuinely uncomfortable with unnecessary intimacy- what a charming young man you are Gavin. To succeed in Strictly though, you just need to accept that these are the rules- just like you have rules in Rugby- and to achieve your potential you need to follow them. Im surprised no-one has told you about IPL treatment for permanent removal of unwanted hair (the darker the better), it would save you all the bother of shaving your chest and legs. And remember, beauty is only ever skin deep, and in the end, even your beauty will fade. Enjoy being the wonderful person you are......you're twice the man you see in the mirror. From one Welsh person to another, go get that trophy Gavin.

  • Comment number 22.

Everyone tune in to 'It Takes Two' tonight(Wednesday)at 6:30 on BBC 2, because Gavin and Katya are on! Can't wait:)

  • Comment number 23.

Gav you make me laugh! Your honesty is great and you don't know how funny you are. You say things and make facial expressions without realising how funny they are!!! Really support you and I think your rumba last week was good;Craig's score was ridiculous! You are making improvement.

  • Comment number 24.

Gavin, your Tango looks great and I really think it could be your dance (after the short preview you gave us last night on it takes two!)so keep training really hard and I'm sure you will be up there on top the leader board this week! Good luck!:)

  • Comment number 25.

Toatally agree with Lauren23 I think he is really trying and to me does not come across as vain and selfish, as the newspapers say he is. I never really used to take much notice of him before as well, but ever since watching 71 degrees north I have really changed my opinion and views of him. I actually fancy him, looking at him, when he's talking about his shyness, he reminds me of me.

  • Comment number 26.

    I agree with everyone here,

I can't wait to see the tango.

  • Comment number 27.

Can't wait until the live show tonight. I think, from what Craig said yesterday on it takes two, Gavin's Tango will be by far his best dance yet and hopefully one of the best on the night!! Good luck for tonight Gavin, just keep focused and try not to get too distracted by Matt and Scott's dances and you and Katya will be brilliant!!!! x

  • Comment number 28.

I think Gavin will be brilliant but Craig is going to pick.

  • Comment number 29.

I loved the Tango, even if nobody else did!

  • Comment number 30.

Gavin, your tango was one of your best, if not your best dance so far in my opinion - I loved it! I couldn't see anything wrong with it personally. But what ever you do, don't let it get to you. You may not be up there with Matt and Scott, but it doesn't mean you can't dance, because you can! Just keep putting in all the effort, keep your head held high and don't let it get you down!!!

  • Comment number 31.

I don't know what's wrong with the judges, but they seem to have taken a slight dislike to Gavin and Katya, I just can't understand it!? All they can seem to say are negative things, and it's just not fair! They make it sound like every single second of the dance was bad and none of it good! You know, it wouldn't hurt them to say "Well done" once in a while would it!!!!

And as for Len giving Gavin the same mark as Ann!! It's totally wrong! In fact, if I was Gavin, I would find it quite insulting.
But what annoys me the most, is if you stuck Gavin or one of the other celebrates in a harness and made them fly, then they danced that badly no one would give them a 7 would they, so why give Ann a 7?! I think the dance should be marked on the overall performance and I think Len just marked the flying! And (going back to Gain and Katya) I don't think their dance deserved a 5 overall from Craig. I would have given that at least a 7 if not an 8!!!

  • Comment number 32.

i loved the tango last night and i think the judges are too hard on him. fingers crossed that he gets through tonight. would love to see what dance he does next week.

  • Comment number 33.

yes he is through can't wait till next week. i think katya is bringing him out of himself more.

  • Comment number 34.

Eee up Gaving and Katya - I have found the dancing super - I have natural dance in my socks and admire you for showing us stupendous choreography and dancing. If you were in a dance club or my local highly trendy club we'd all just simply watch and wish we could dance like you two.

  • Comment number 35.

Katya should take Gavin to an acting coach as the judges comments seem to criticizing his lack of performance - it worked wonders for Gethin in series 6...
Just wanted to say that their dancing is a lot better than they get credit for and I agree with the comments about undermarking this week especially in contrast to other couples!
    Go on team Gatya!!!

  • Comment number 36.

So glad Gavin and Katya are back next week!
I think the dances next week are the Argentine Tango and the Paso, both of which would suit Gavin perfectly! I think it might be the Argentine Tango that there're doing, because they did two Latin dances and now I think they should be doing two Ballroom dances

  • Comment number 37.

This comment was removed because the moderators found it broke the house rules. Explain.

  • Comment number 38.

Gavin just think about the fact that it takes the athletes always a bit longer to get going and to let go of the embarrasment but when they do get going they go the distance.

  • Comment number 39.

Will be planning to get an acting coach in for Gavin aswell as give him sone tips myself;)

    from Kat

  • Comment number 40.

    (this is for TashaLouise-KV-x)

Did Katya really say that or how did you find out??

  • Comment number 41.

I think getting an acting coach for Gavin is a great idea, because everyone seems to be saying Gavin struggles from nerves when he performs (especially with the Tango), so hopefully it will boost his confidence a little (or maybe even a lot!!)

  • Comment number 42.

Zoe, she really said it, she tweeted it :)

do you have twitter? if so, you may well know me by tashalouise6

    itt tomorow :)

  • Comment number 43.

So do we know what dance Gavin and Katya are doing this week. I think he should do ballroom he seems good at that

  • Comment number 44.

can't wait to see itt tomorrow with gavin and katya at least then we will find out what dance they are doing.

  • Comment number 45.

  • Comment number 46.

Gavin - when you run out on the pitch at the Millennium Stadium, you just have your mind on the game and being a team player. You aren't thinking about what people in the crowd think about you.

Yes, I realise that the crowd at Strictly are much closer physically, but if you concentrated on being a team with Katya that might help.

Visualisation is really helpful here. When you go to sleep, think yourself into the situation of walking out onto the Strictly stage, and then straight away visualise into the first steps of the dance you will be doing and forget that the audience are there.

Read Rhonda Byrne's 'The Secret' and you will understand the power of visualisation.

Apart from that, how about hypnosis to help you get over the self-consciousness? Really - serious suggestion.

Best wishes, from rugby fan Jen.

  • Comment number 47.

Gavin just pretend your in the millenium stadium on the dance floor, you will be fine. Have a swift drink too to calm the nerves.

  • Comment number 48.

No I don't have twitter, but keep us posted if Katya tweets anything else important, especially if she says what dance they are doing this week, cus everyone seems to be doing different...?

  • Comment number 49.

@ Zoe, I believe that gavin is doing the jive this week, which I think is a bad choice. The veinesse Whirl would have been better for him.

  • Comment number 50.

    Sorry meant Vienesse

  • Comment number 51.

Zoe you can just call me Tash lol, you'll be seeing a lot of me and it is easier :)

    will do!

  • Comment number 52.

@ Zoe, I believe that Gavin is doing the Jive this week, which I think is a bad choice. The vw would have been better, let's just hope the acting lessons help. The fact that he is playing rugby again may help.

  • Comment number 53.

I hope that he is not doing the jive i think any of the other dances would suit him better. We will find out tonight on ITT.

  • Comment number 54.

    Deb Morgan (52)
I think that you have cracked a major part of Gavin's issues, with his current problems of trying to leave the Ospreys and get nearer to London to see his children more often.
The offer by Saracens seems to be near to conclusion and once he can see his future more clearly then Gavin will be more able to get settled and back on track.
The public tend to forget that being a celebrity does not make the pain of everyday living go away. Gavin has had a pretty hard year with injuries and personal issues, some weaker people would have broken by now but he seems determined to win through.
Being an Ace in any activity does not give you a passport to instant happiness. The trail of broken marriages and relationships bear witness to the pressures that celebrity brings.
Let us all hope that Gavin can find the strength to get a second wind and face that next tackle to score another try!
    Keeeep Dancing!!!

  • Comment number 55.

  • Comment number 56.

Gavin, one or two stiff drinks, enough to chill but still remember the routine. Then go out there like you're clubbing and have fun mate.

  • Comment number 57.

I think the paso will really suit Gavin, I just hope he uses his acting skills and doesn't get to nervous on Saturday night. You can do it Gav!!

  • Comment number 58.

Gavin must really be suffering with his nerves. My family, albeit not being famous celebrities, perform music/plays in public and what really helps all their nerve problems is to take 'Rescue Remedy'. This is a natural product made from flower essences and has been around for the last 80 years. It isn't a drug. It's really worth Gavin giving it a go, with the programmers approval of course. All it takes is four drops on his tongue about 30 minutes before he starts to dance. It works for my family, I am sure it will work for Gavin.

  • Comment number 59.

Come on Gav, u can do it!! have watched u so many times in rugby, u got the body, am sure u got the rhythm, u got a great partner....so come on Gav, do it for Wales!!!!

    Suz south wales

  • Comment number 60.

Gavin doing the Paso is a great chance for him to show of what he can do! i was disappointed with the tango (but still loved it) but he admitted he was really nervous before hand - and hey! i cant dance so def not knocking him!!
Really think acting classes would be a way to go. Matt has a 'character' each week that he plays so it in theory is not him out there. Perhaps this could work for Gavin.
i didnt really know him before SCD but have been watching 71 degrees north, and he is fab in that. Strong, focused but with a soft side to him - love it.
Good luck for Saturday team Gatya x

  • Comment number 61.

You know what gatya means in hungarian right?

;) Still supporting them though; just hope their breakthrough comes before they are eliminated!

  • Comment number 62.

Yep I knew that and have been calling us team Drawers for a laugh, but ignoring the pants bit!

Haven't told Kat, she wouldn't like me any more :P

  • Comment number 63.

    Well I love MUSE!!!!

I knew the music yesterday so was gutted it was spoilt on itt! lol
think the paso looks good but not yet high scoring but come on Gatya!

  • Comment number 64.

can't wait till tomorrow night and seeing gavin do the paso. Just hope the judges have more postive things to say this week.

  • Comment number 65.

Good Luck Gavin, I was glad to hear on IT2 that Katya had arranged for you to see an acting coach.
Also the Saracens Fleece gave the game away as to the real reason for your confident and beaming smile.
All you have to now is cope with the progressive rock Paso Doble and it will be a successful week for you both. This could be your dance!
    Keeeep Dancing!!!

  • Comment number 66.

  • Comment number 67.

It looks as if Gavin as a Narcissus complex, throw away the mirror, stop posing and just think about the dance.

  • Comment number 68.

I've never been able to figure out if vanity is about being in love with yourself completely or actually being insecure. Prob a mixture of the two.

I felt relieved though when on Breakfast this morning, Gavin said he was just messing when it came to the vanity aspect. I think Katya said something like it just being abit of humour and people not getting it.

So maybe we need to take Gavin in the same way as we do Vincent and just giggle because its prob not all that serious :)

  • Comment number 69.

Hope he remembers that vampires have no mirrors.

  • Comment number 70.

gavin did it he has finally got over his nerves and that was the best dance every. i think craig still has got a problem with him through. after that performance he deserves to go through.

  • Comment number 71.

    loved the paso!!!

they are so HOT! Gavin shirtless was the best idea on her front! Talking of her front...not much to be worn there either! God think she's sexy...just hope Ann doesn't get any ideas ;)

RE dancing: Thought Gavin looked like he was having fun and that helped me see why I am routing for them so much! Think they need to stay in!! Upward climb starts now!!

    ...and MUSE = WIN!!!

but, overall, didn't like the show...the set was tacky and I hate halloween...hated the bit after the VT with the cackling pumpkin....

  • Comment number 72.

They will not force us, they will stop degrading us, they will not control us, we will be victorious♥

  • Comment number 73.

well...dont know where my past comments went?? but come on gav...for wales mun
gotta say thought u were fab tnite best ive seen luv ya xxxx
    suz llanelli xx

  • Comment number 74.

Best dance so far Gavin!! Well Done! Could see the hard work paid off.. onwards and upwards..
Shirtless... good move! mmmmmm...... (off to watch again!) x

  • Comment number 75.

Without doubt the hottest couple and don't care if I sound shallow! I think their chemistry is getting more believable each week.
Gavin's clearly not the best dancer, but every week he looks as if he's really trying. I'd rather see that than a matt or scott performance which is already the finished article.
Might actually start voting next week ;)

  • Comment number 76.

BBC : have linked to you and this page on my fan site for Katya :)

  • Comment number 77.

He had a little personality last night, but he's trying.

  • Comment number 78.

Not sure about going topless smacked a bit of desperation but suppose if you have it flaunt it - He so much better at the ballroom dances it's just I don't see the week on week improvement that some of the others are managing to produce. Katya has done some amazing work to make the improvements but sadly really think it could be curtains this week or next.

  • Comment number 79.

What music did Gavin dance to last night? (30th Oct)

Will someone PLEASE answer, I've watched on i-player & looked on the Strictly web site.

  • Comment number 80.

This comment was removed because the moderators found it broke the house rules. Explain.

  • Comment number 81.

    Music: Uprising - Muse

  • Comment number 82.

Thank you THANK YOU for the answer TashaLouise-KV-x

  • Comment number 83.

Katya you looked absolutely stunning in that red dress this week!

  • Comment number 84.

Why do I read on comments nothing but praise for Ann Widdecombe and, apart from his physique, criticism regarding Gavin Henson? He is not a great dancer as I'm sure he realises. But alongside the bundle of exquisite all action that is Ann he looks like an accomplished dancer...well almost.
I thought the old womanish response: cover up! Cover! By Len, regarding Gavin showing off his physique was typical of the BBC‘s double standards. Although they don't mind, neither do I, half clothed female dancers. BBC double standards make a fuss of Gavin's bare top, but quite happy whilst tonight a band group had a half naked tattooed guitar player raunching about. Auntie’s always been known for her double standards

  • Comment number 85.

So lovely to see the grin on Gavin's face when his name was called out tonight..bless him. Katya obviously thought they were out .... have faith! You're not going anywhere yet! Yeah! Another week of 'that body'! x

  • Comment number 86.

    I LOVED the paso!
If only Craig would give them a proper mark, they would be higher up on the leader board, where they should be! I don't know what Craig's problem is?! If he had given them a 7 like everyone else did, they could have got 28 and been at least two places higher on the leader board.

  • Comment number 87.

i love the paso and i can't stop watching it. I can't wait to see what dance they do this week especially now gavin seems to be enjoying it more.

  • Comment number 88.

I enjoyed Gavin's paso and think he's really trying his best to give the judges what they want. Most of the others are performers and actors. Still Karen Hardy seemed to like him on Take Two. Perhaps Katya should get some tips from Karen about bringing the best out of shy sportsmen, she did okay with Mark. I hope Gavin gets a dance that suits him this week, some ballroom would be nice. good luck for Saturday x

  • Comment number 89.

I think you are really great and so admire your humour.

This is going to sound really daft but watch the "Wham" Video of the song "Last Christmas" and watch how George Michael looks at the girl in the video and I think (probably I will get a lot of flack for saying this) that's what you need to create with Katya. It's all about telling a story - a romantic, intense, will they won't, have they haven't they story.

Just as you don't allow yourself a negative thought when competing, make yourself have romantic thoughts etc. when you are dancing.

I love watching you and Katya and your posture is fantastic and I want to keep watching your both for many more weeks to come.

P.S. Get flirty with Katya in training.

    Wishing you all the best.

  • Comment number 90.

    Well Done Gavin.
It's hard to perform in front of a live audience, and he really broke out of his shell on saturday. All he needs to do now is stay out of his shell

  • Comment number 91.

Deos anyone know yet what dance gavin and Katya are doing this week.

  • Comment number 92.

After his performance on saturday gavin should be ok for this week. does anyone know what dance they are doing. I think it should be a ballroom one.

  • Comment number 93.

This comment was removed because the moderators found it broke the house rules. Explain.

  • Comment number 94.

I agree Gavin has a lack of confidence ; as a hypnotherapist I can see he would benefit greatly from a hypnotherapy session or two ....many sports men use us . He can call me anytime !

  • Comment number 95.

As everyone is doing a different dance this week
I think Gavin will be doing either the Jive or the AT.

  • Comment number 96.

Thanks for the answer poppetlovestango. I would like to see him do the AT. I am not sure if fast dances suit gavin.

  • Comment number 97.

he is doing the cha cha cha

  • Comment number 98.

Oh thanks for letting me know. Hope he enjoys it as much as last weeks paso.

I still wish he would do a ballroom dance again maybe next week fingers crossed.

  • Comment number 99.

oh so it is the cha cha cha. He should be ok as long as his nerves don't come back. Lets hope it is a ballrooom dance next week.

  • Comment number 100.

I think now Gavin has more confidence, the cha cha may suit him. He just needs to relax and keep using his acting skills, even though the cha cha character is less obvious than say the paso. Even though they may not be top of the leader board, I still think they have more to give. I don't know about anyone else, but I am seeing a definite improvement! Good luck 4 tomorrow!
