In Springwatch Close Encounters we gave you advice on how to get closer to wildlife. It also helps if you can indentify some of the calls of our wildlife. Try learning the audio clips below...

You can download them by right-clicking on these links and choosing 'Save target as' - tawny owl, blackbird, cuckoo, female fallow deer, male fallow deer, wren - or listen to them by using the players below.

If you can't wait for the links to be modified then you can download the files as follows:
    1. Play the file. as soon as this is downloaded go to the next step. you do not have to wait for the file to finish playing.
    2. go to the folder where your temporary internet files are loaded. by selecting tools - internet options - under browsing history select settings - click on view files.
    3. find the file by sorting by date or size etc the first one is called tawnyowl.mp3. copy and paste this to another folder or click on edit - copy to folder.
    4. repeat for the other files but this time press F5 to refresh the directory listing so that the file can be seen.
If in a hurry just click play on all the files one after the other and then copy all the files at once from the temporary internet files folder to your documents folder.

If this is too complicated then wait for the website to be modified.

    Hope this has helped

i connected a long audio cable with a male plug on one end and a female on the other connected to a pair of multi media speakers placed by my back door and played the sounds directly the built in amplifier in the speakers works really well just plug them into the audio output on your computer or laptop

    guys,
follow what jetelec wrote (it's comment number 8) it's easy and works well, once you've got the list of history up it should be the last on the list, if not search for it at the top, the you can simply copy and paste it to your comp or i-pod.
    Cheers jetelec :)

    (((((More form the above comment)))))

oh and when you copy and paste it make sure that it's the MP3 file you copy and paste and not the XML document (you will no if you've got the right one because it will work when you download it). The proper MP3 file will have a blue note(like the itunes symbol) at the start of it on the list, thats the one to copy.

    Hope that helps...

I'm sorry to say that these mp3's do not play on iPods unless you change your settings with third party application - the risk is yours.

There are lots of nature sound effects available to buy but the blackbird twitter here is simply divine.

Can we have some more of these, especially the birds as it's great you can download them. Is there somewhere you can upload something you've recorded for someone else to identify it? What's the best recording device? Help...
