The lengths people will go to

Post categories:

The Mole | 19:39 UK time, Thursday, 28 May 2009

Just been speaking to the story-developers - the people who keep an eye on the webcams - and have got the lowdown on what you good people have been doing so as not to miss the chaffinches fledge.

We have:

  • people taking their laptops to the loo
  • people not taking their dogs for a walk
  • mum and daughter taking their laptops to the pub with them
  • people threatening to get up at 4:30 am if necessary
  • youngsters not revising for their GCSEs (very naughty!)
  • workers thinking they are going to get the sack for not doing any work
  • mums putting the kettle on as that always gets the goals scored
  • men stocking up on long term supplies including bottles of fizzy drink and crisps - now they just need to bring the toilet in

As one person said, it's just like Big Brother, only interesting!

I live in Cornwall. This year, same as last year, I have heard 5 cuckoos, always in their own patch of moorland. I have seen 3 this year - 2 males and one female. They have been back in the area since the end of April. Today, a male and female emerged from a hawthorn bush in front of me. The males are always on their favourite perches. Last year, in the same patch, I saw a large cuckoo chick being fed by two very tiny foster parents - unfortunately, I wasn't close enough to see what they were but I think they were warblers of some kind.

    Hi,
I don't exactly know what blogging is. I am not exactly computer literate.I do hope you get this message. I live in Cornwall on a farm in St. Merryn near the north coast. I heard the cuckoo about 2 weeks ago inour garden, it was just over my head in the leylandii trees that border our garden. We have an abundance of bird and wildlife around us. We have visits from badgers every night ,we put out peanuts for them. A couple of years ago we had a pipistrelle nursery in our roof. Magic!

I can 'post' the photographs if you give me the link.
