It's not even goal of the season so far, and in terms of technique (in my opiniion) not the best goal of his career.

The people have made it and the BBC have promoted it because they want people to watch it and there's a comments section for people to then give their opinion on it. My opinion is that it's not funny. Don't worry I won't watch it anymore because I haven't laughed at 1 of the 3 episodes I've seen. But why shouldn't I give an opinion on the ones I have seen?

Personally I think it's more bizarre that you seem to believe people shouldn't be allowed to post negative comments about it. Seriously don't understand the mentality of some people...it's not hard, just don't click play, why can't you just leave the board to the people that watch it (and have done for years) and the newcomers that do find it funny. It's really not that hard and something must be wrong if you can't do that.

People might not understand it because a lot of characters won't make sense unless you have been watching it since it's inception back as I'm on Setanta Sports.

It's not about not understanding it, I get it, a poorly-voiced puppet of Mourinho gives a round-up of the week's sporting events, aided by equally poorly-voiced puppets of Rooney and Capello. There don't appear to be any jokes, unless as you've suggested they're running jokes that you can only appreciate if you've watched it from the beginning. Or was Mourinho getting a phone call from JT and Lampard and discussing the plight of Chelsea comedy gold that for some reason I didn't find amusing?

But that's the thing, if it was on ITV people wouldn't complain because they don't have to pay anything towards it. I certainly wouldn't anyway. But as the BBC is funded by the public's money people feel they have a right to voice their opinions whether they're positive or negative. And so they should, how else can they help an organisation provide a great service if they don't tell them where they think they're right and wrong?

Anyway your argument is like telling someone who has 1 share in a company that they're not allowed to the AGM. Just because their stake is small it doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed a voice, doesn't mean it has to be heard but why shouldn't they be allowed their opinion?

The bit in black above the Your Comment box says "Post a comment". Where does it say "only if it's positive" or "negative comments will be deleted"? Anyway if you don't like the comments that are being left why do you read them and comment on them? It's no different to people saying they don't like the programme. No-one's telling you to stop so why should people stop saying they don't like this?

#22. What about the people that complain about Daybreak, Biggest Loser, Benidorm, or Harry Hill? Of course they do. It is perfectly natural to complain, because different people find different things funny.

I'm not saying people shouldn't complain, but playing the "I paid for this" card is stretching it a little bit to me. Your man who has one share in a company of course has the right to be at the AGM, but what say do they have in how the company is run, compared with a majority shareholder?

So yes, feel free to complain, but don't ask for it to be scrapped. It's not offending anyone, plenty of people seem to find it funny, so why not just let it run for as long as it runs?

Considering EVERYTHING that the BBC offers on radio, TV, internet, etc, do people REALLY think that over the course of a year they don't get their money's worth? Of if they do, maybe they would like to pay extra? No, didn't think so...

Yes but his opinion is that the BBC shouldn't pay for the show. Admittedly it probably doesn't cost much, if it does they're being robbed! The BBC are making cuts to all departments so what's wrong with expressing an opinion that you'd rather see this cut than something else? I'd rather see this go than a lot of other things personally. I've said on a previous S1TV blog I'd rather see this scrapped. When the BBC are looking at what should be cut and what should be kept I'd rather fight for the things I like. That way if they do get cut and this is kept at least I can say I made my feelings known. As with the shareholder story they don't have to listen but that doesn't mean I shouldn't make the feelings known.

No I don't like everything that's on and I don't feel the need to comment and complain about everything that's on. But the articles on the website have a nice little feature at the bottom which encourages people to make comments. As long as those comments aren't offensive or of a bullying nature towards anyone why shouldn't people be allowed to express their opinion whatever it is? Fair enough you don't comment or complain about the things you don't like but what makes that decision right and my decision here wrong?

If you're talking about getting rid of overpriced sports coverage on the BBC you should have a look at Match of the Day. They make football seem so depressing, this shows the only thing that has a laugh and makes it seem entertaining.

Lee, I never said I had a problem about complaining, or that your decision or mine was right or wrong. And I agree with you in some cases people should voice their opinions, if it is going to help the corporation as a whole.

Another way of looking at would be how much you would be willing to pay for S1TV? Many people, probably including yourself, would say nothing, but as it would probably work out to be a fraction of a penny per licence fee payer, does it really matter, in the grand scheme of things? My point is more that I believe people get a huge amount for the money they give every year, possibly more than the value of the entertainment that they consume.

And yes, you could get into the argument of money being better spent elsewhere, but that is when things go around in circles and demanding the return of Quotes of the Week, Review of the Week, etc, etc!

    #25. Exactly.

I see your point and personally I don't like it when people bring into the argument the fact that their license fee pays for a service or someone's wages. As you say I would agree the majority of people get more than their fair share from the service the BBC provides. I just don't like it when people are told not to say certain things or not to air an opinion. I appreciate it can be inflammatory when someone is saying they want a service to be axed when it's something you like. However it comes at a time when the BBC has already said they want to axe 606 and they are looking at other things to get rid of. So I think some people are using that as a reason to fight for the things they want to keep and what they want to see go. Almost like a multimedia call to arms! People feel they need to say what they want to keep or get rid of more so than ever right now I think.

Yes again it's good that the argument regarding Robbo, QOTW and ROTW haven't come up again here. I loved all 3 of those blogs and regularly read them but I appreciate they won't be coming back and I'm fine with that. But again because they were axed people who don't like S1TV have the mentality that if they were axed why isn't this? And I don't think that's wrong. I don't think in the long run it would help people change their opinion that it was wrong to get rid of them. But I think seeing something they really dislike every week gets their back up about it again.

Anyway I'm signing off from this one, it's been a good debate. Agree on some points and disagree on some points but glad it's stayed sensible and hasn't been a case of people trying to shout each other down. And I won't be returning to S1TV, I've watched it a few times, not enjoyed it and given my opinion on it. But I'm not the sort to return every week just to keep slating something....not unless my Friday afternoon at work is really slow!

Rooney's goal was a great shot taken very well. So too have been many from Dennis Law back in the 1960's for United. Keep it in perspective - or is everyone in the UK trying to lift Wayne's spirits.

Also I witnessed a truly stunning overhead goal - sheer poetry in motion in a national league game in Australia 3 weeks ago. The player received the ball at speed knee height and in one movement lifted the ball, pivoted and then bicycle kicked, blitzing the ball into the right hand corner with goalkeeper glued to the spot. Equally paced to Wayne's shot but far more control and instinct required.
