Special 1 TV: The Leaking
With all the Wikileaking that's been going on this week, it was only a matter of time before something would be revealed about Special 1 TV. And the truth goes much deeper than any of us could have ever imagined. From Moscow to Newcastle, England's failed World Cup bid and cables linking an unnamed S1TV insider to international events - we have the skinny. But what was it all for? Who was set to gain what? And how did the house of cards come tumbling down? You want evidence? We have it. Do it!

The rubbery stars of BBC3's 'Special 1 Tv' are back and they are even more amazing, even more fantastic and even more incredible than ever before. Joined in studio by the boy Wayne and Sven 'I-have-always-loved-Leicester' Goran Eriksson, the Special 1 goes behind the headlines of the Premier League, fuelling conversation and debate among a host of callers with his unique style of puppet-punditry.

Three damn good episodes on the trot - Special1 tv is on top form yet again.
& @04 Best FIFA corruption joke without a doubt (sent in by a viewer too)

I think it's quite funny. I also think it's annoying that people who don't like it come on here and moan. If I don't like something, like Eastenders then I don't watch it and then comment on the messageboards.
Complain about this comment
Really good, not quite as good as last week, but that was always going to be difficult.
Love it. Be champions.

Watched it for the first time this week and it was funnier on Setanta.

Where's Robbo, people? Is he retired or what?

@ comment 04 Best FIFA joke by far.... & the third great episode in three weeks, Special 1 TV is being so very special at this time, & the return of BIG BOSS is long overdue (I buy you all)
More & more people are starting to realise what triumph this show really is...because more people are judging it on it's own merits.

Almost true, except that these message boards aren't just provided for people to say how great something is - what would be the point? This is made purely using license fee funds, so if someone thinks it's a load of rubbish they are quite right to say so here.
In my opinion, the message boards are the most fun part of Special1 TV, ain't saying much for it really!
Oh, and I think Robbo was rubbish too, seems like a like for like substitution to me...

Kind of average..like voices..but jokes not really funny..bring more characters pls
Complain about this comment
@22 you are missing the point (as many do), This is NOT an impersonation show - It is a show made up from caricatures, the voices are not supposed to be impersonations of Jose & company but they are more of a comical representation of the voices as with the puppets (also comical representations)

GREAT LOVE IT

The thinking behind this is exceptionally weak - the 'joke' seems to be quite simply, "Mourinho is called the Special One isn't he? Isn't that funny? Special One! That'll make a good character!" - and that's it.
Never mind that Mourinho is still out there managing and can speak for himself - and does all the time, typically with much more humour than this totally unnecessary 'parody'.
Poor concept, poor execution.

the impressions are good, mick mccarthy is my favourite. the impression sounds more like him than the man himself!
Complain about this comment
The formula of this show seems to be:
1. Take colourful individual based in football
2. Give said individual puppet
3. Poorly imitate them.
4. Place them in slightly peculiar scenarios.
Its just...not funny.

Think people comment about Robbo, et al, on here as it's the only 'humorous' blog left on BBC Sport these days.
I for one didn't really enjoy Robbo, or the way the comments on his blog were taken over by the same people banging on about their lives each week (as if in a chatroom).... but I do really miss Quotes of the Week.
This has its moments, but not consistently high standard.
Complain about this comment
Robbo at least made me smile occasionally. I didn't make it all the way through this. Just not funny. Racial stereotypes and poking fun at public figures is really cheap humor.
Maybe the BBC is trying to appeal to a younger audience, but the older one needs their comedy a little more sophisticated. Did I just imply that Robbo is sophisticated? Oh well, so be it.

The Fergie accent isn't very good.

I'm neither for or against this, but seeing as dave the hedgehog seems to be trying to offer some kind of faux intellectual analysis on a program about puppets I'll probably give it a miss.

I'm sure the BBC don't bug my PC do they??
It would be most improper for such an upstanding, left-wing solidarity movement to do, wouldn't it??
It would be stooping to the depths of the News of the World, wouldn't it??
Next thing we know, the BBC World franchise will be sold to Mr Murdoch, wont' it??

Put this garbage where it belongs - on CBBC's budget, and do something decent for British sport like put some boxing on instead.

THANK GOD FOR SOME REAL HUMOUR

Keep up the good work!
Those who don't like it please take your negative views back to the radio 3 part of the website and be 'sophisticated' there!
Regards a license fee payer!

I've been resisting the urge to add my voice to the malcontents on this message board, however
1. How does this constitute 'Comment and Analysis'? If this is what the BBC thinks this means then God help us.
2. I agree with all the points concerning poor execution/concept etc.
3. Am I allowed to have an opinion? Yes. Do you have to agree with me? No. But for the love of God, BBC, PLEASE stop producing this rubbish. It's bad enough having to watch re-runs of Only Fools and Horses every Christmas without producing MORE rubbish.
Unfortunately for anyone who doesn't like this show I don't think the BBC will pay attention because when has it ever done what the majority of license payers?

I'm not a hater, I just think this should be on CBBC. Don't get me wrong, I like CBBC because it's exactly what it say's on the tin, but this is supposed to be for adults .
Please enlighten me on what's funny about it? If I had a lobotomy perhaps I'd like the bright colours, and before anyone says well don't watch it then. I won't but I do have a right to have my say. Good day gentlemen .....and ladies if any .

Top one- Nice one- Sorted.
Villa have smashed up toilets, ripped out and thrown seats and flares at home fans in both of their last 2 away games. Just because they lost. The FA doesn't want to intervene because Coalition Cameron claims to be a life long fan of his local team.
Mark Miller and his friends have refused to honour their season tickets until Houllier resigns and the soccer yank Chairman employs a real manager like Sven, Martin Jol or Alan Curbishley.
S1TV needs to address these issues too. Great program though LOL.
This website is theirs....

This is certainly better than it was at the beginning, but please tell the guy who does Rooney's voice to tone down the accent. It's just cringeworthy at the moment and sucks the humour out of what should be good jokes eg. the FIFA corruption joke.

I personally think that a friday should be reveiw of the week such as last year than this (and i would like the quotes of the week back as well) it was a mistake letting review of the week go and replacing it with this

Coming out with basically a sitcom every week is not possible. Like sitcoms, etc, I think shows are over-produced these days.

I LOVE SPECIAL 1 TV. Best joke ever with FIFA.
I agree with the comment above. IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, DONT WATCH.
It is just a laugh, nothing to be taken seriously.
I would love this to be longer, with more characters and features, so much fun could be had.

I really like these, some proper good subtle jokes in there. I prefer over Robbo, and as others keep saying if you like Robbo go watch somewhere else.
Oh and also, if you don't like it don't watch and stop complaining about a waste of tax payers money. I don't like cricket, Basketball and boxing but I don't complain about the BBC covering something a bit different. Not everybody enjoys the same cup of tea.

I've loved IOSS/S1TV since the beginning. But it seems to me that the only who don't love this either don't know a thing about football and therefore don't get the jokes or are rather sour individuals who can't take a joke unless shoved in their face.
Come on guys, you have to take this with a pinch of salt.

@rubbernuts (comment 32), called me a "faux intellectual" (whatever that is !) & i get the slightest feeling that he was having a dig at me for explaining the simple fact that the show is made up of caricature voices & puppets & is not an impersonation show.
Well if telling a stark FACT is "faux intellectual" then I am deffo "faux intellectual".
Now i'm off to look up what "faux intellectual" means !
I think COMMENT 63 got it spot on....very well put @Magic_Horn_LB

Speaking for a large group of Yanks who follow European football, we love the show, and have since the IOSS days. First saw the show on a JetBlue flight, on the Setanta cable feed on the TV! I really did not understand it at first, or get all the jokes, but it made me laugh in any case. Been a fan ever since, have watched every episode and thank the BBC for picking it up post Setanta. I have learned much more about the people and history in European football as result, since if I do not get a joke, I learn about the subject so that I do. Very educational in that respect for us. I have tuned many friends onto the show, and we all enjoy it and use the catch phrases regularly. I can see how some would not like it, not everything pleases everyone, but we find it funny and fantatsic. Shows are getting better all the time and this Wikileaks episode hit a home run with us! Keep up the good work and thanks to Doitchampions and BBC for helping us outsiders enjoy it.
