Simon Mayo Simon Mayo Presenter

Greetings bloggers. A lovely Friday beckons, weather notwithstanding (I have no basis for this statement and there is more evidence to the contrary. But I make it anyway). Child 1 should be returning to the fold which will be lovely but means we will all have to rearrange our places in the house. Just when you're used to them not being there, they're back. More food required. A lot more food required. Then, just as we get used to being 5 again, child 1 will upsticks and we'll be 4 again. Then 3 (repeat to fade).
Top book launch with Jeremy Vine last night. JV has written a book on his 25 years at the BBC and the room was awash with the nations finest journos: Jon Sopel, Steve Richards, Jonathan Friedland, Justin Webb etc Politicians like IDS and top radio talent like Ken Bruce and Sir Bob Harris. Tim Vine made a hilarious speech which, I can inform you, had IDS in stitches. Haven't read JV's book but it sounds packed with tasty morsels (just done the maths and realised I've been with the BBC for 30 years. I've missed a trick.)
2 shows today and first up it's movies on 5L and guests Robert Pattinson and David Cronenberg who are star and director of Cosmopolis which is out today. We recorded the piece a week back, but there is a frisson in the room when a top heartthrob is in the room (a bit like hanging out with Ken Bruce) and can report R Patz was charming and suave.
Then the ARF for R2 and looking forward to it already. No restrictions for today's opening tune, just the best you can possibly think of to set everyone off in the best possible spirit. Over to you bloggers and blogvets...
Have an organised and waste free Friday. See you after 2&5

Morning everyone; started well here but is now pretty grey and damp.

I didn't get much of a chance to catch up with yesterday's blog, or hear the show but Simon's tweet-pic of Nige's tart looked yummy, so I may have to give that a go.
Shona I was also pleased to see your speech went down a storm :)

ARFO - hmm I'm struggling for inspiration this week. I think I'll come back to it.

Good morning Jennie (and anyone else who poops in before I hit the post button)

Shona, Hope today goes better than you are thinking it might.

Katy, My Hundred Hat attrached many an admiring glance on the school (or were people looking at the gawjus party dress and princess shoes Little Girl insisted on wearing this morning?

If you happen to be about - Hello CSNxxx

ARFO. Hmmm. Following on from a comment I made yesterday, I would love to hear:

THERE'S A GUY WORKS DOWN THE CHIP SHOP SWEARS HE'S ELVIS by Kirsty MacColl

Ken Bruce is, indeed, a legend who is rightly respected by so many of his peers. Am I alone in thinking that in his Radio 2 website picture he bears a striking resemblance to Penfold from Dangermouse though?

Must dash... Toddler group to attend, food shopping to do with toddler in tow, ironing mountain to climb, post office queue to join, cupcake birthday party to pick Big Girl up from, 40th birthday party to attend.

If I don't get back later - Have a fab weekend one and all. x

Happy Friday to all Blogchumsters ... and also to Simon, the Driveteam and ARF Choon Choosers.

I may be a Blogvet but I haven't had an ARFO for nearly 2 years - or since all the upstarts arrived and started choosing much better choons

Morning all. Stunning view from my office window - the trees and ground are bathed in sunlight but there is a backdrop of a sky-filling dark grey cloud clearly making it's way towards us. The contrast is magnificent and I wish I had a camera to share it with you.

ARFO opener? After a good 9 months of trying I'm accepting that Chicago's rousing 25 or 6 to 4 doesn't cut enough mustard to get pole position, so a few alternatives listed below

    SUPERTRAMP - Breakfast In America

STATUS QUO - Break The Rules

THE BEATLES - Drive My Car

JOE COCKER - With A Little Help From My Friends

Good morning Simon, Team, Bloggers & Blogvets!

No ARFO request from me today since I'll be mid-air at 5.05 and it seems a shame to potentially deny someone who will be listening.

I read JV's book last week. For anyone interested in news/politics/current affairs and the reporting of it, it makes fascinating reading. Those wanting to know about JV's personal life are in for a disappointment. Surely there's still time, Mr M? JV wasn't a R1 dj during the big shake up. There must be many tales to be told.

Hope all are having a good day. Shona, I'm thinking of you.

Morning Simon, team, NYM, and charming and suave bloggers and blogvets,

We will have a houseload of 12 (count 'em!) 11 and 12 year olds tonight for some post-exam pizza and footie, so I doubt DT will get much attention in Be Good Towers tonight....

But just in case you're looking for something loud and appropriately English to kick things off, I commend to the DT choonchoosing collective

    Good Morning All

As last week's ARFO was chosen by a BBC employee (not sure that's exactly in the spirit of things, but hey ho...) I have been holding onto the crown, and hope to hand it over to a blogger at 5.05 this evening.

I've been musing on what is a 'decent' interval to leave between receiving the crown and starting to ARFO chase again... Actually, I'd be very happy to bow out now for the forseeable - especially as some bloggers have never had an ARFO and there are others who had one once but so long ago they can barely remember it... But it would seem churlish to stop taking part altogether, so I think maybe I'll sit it out for a month or two, then start requesting Level 42 songs in the expectation that they will never get picked...

    Hello again.

July 4th is obviously an auspicious day, Billie. Unfortunately I'm way over repeat 21 years old - chronologically anyway! In my head I'm still 21!

Also if I was lurking for a few months and that time was counted in blogging months, I would have been here 'officially' for longer. My first post was 2nd September last year, so nearly a blogvet!
