Waterloo I think. That's what the man said anyway. But it's very early and dark, so frankly who knows? And I'm yet to check the details as no coffee has yet been imbibed. I know it's a drug and that breeds dependency but it is used in moderation. A cardiologist once told me that watching coffee was good but that a few squares of dark chocolate and a drink of diet cola (silly phrase) would have the same effect on my heart. So watch all of it basically (nb she didn't say stop, she just said 'watch' which I do). After Paul Hollywoods visit, along with buns and bread, there are a few more things we will need to 'watch'.
I was a late convert to coffee anyway, only starting when I was deputising for Adrian John on the early show for Radio 1, so this is 86/87. Until then I didn't like any hot drinks but the studios had a coffee machine which made exceptionally strong brews and, needing something to whet the whistle, took what I needed. Within a few weeks I was hooked. I'm thinking of sending Adrain John any future medical bills that accrue as a result of his carelessly wanting time off.
More food today! The sourdough bread and Chelsea buns were enough to keep us going for a while but Nigel fills any gap that might have appeared with Hake, cider and clotted cream. My cardiologist might have something to say about that too.
Oldies please for the start of the RYDER CUP where the European golfers take on the Americans and we are suddenly good Europeans for a few days at least. It's all happening in Chicago which might take you down a few other alleys...
Have a well-controlled and organised Thursday. See you after 5.

Morning, sunny day here in Greendale.

Morning Simon, team, NYM and cholesterol-watching bloggers,

Thanks for the mensh last night for Gabrielle - although the song sounded a bit more dreary than I remember it.... And then this morning on another radio station I heard Blueberry Hill, now that would have been a good 'un. I wonder where all the blueberries have come from in the last 10 years?

Golf? Never been on a golf course, never picked up a club, never worn the bad golfing clothes, but here goes....

SULTANS OF SWING - Dire Straits*

BOYS KEEP SWINGING – David Bowie

BABY DRIVER – Simon and Garfunkel

(* anyone listened to the new Mark Knopfler album? It's really rather good)

    Hi Simon and everyone.

Its surprising at all the places I have worked and there have been a few since 2008 when I started contracting, that it is the younger of the workforce that are not into hot drinks. I only drink coffee at work as tea is hard to make and I think tea at workplaces is unpredictable!!

    Anyway choons:

    1. 25 TO 6 OR 6 TO 4 - CHICAGO ( I think I may have got the title mixed up a bit!!)
    2. EAGLE - Abba
    3. RIDERS ON THE STORM - The Doors
    4. ALBATROSS - Fleetwood Mac
    5. CIRCLE IN THE SAND - Belinda Carlisle ( Bunker?)
    6. HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT - Pat Benatar
    7. Horse with no name - AMERICA
    8. Final Countdown - EUROPE
    9. DRIVE - Cars
    10. EYE OF THE TIGER - Survivor ( Tiger Woods)
    11. EVERY ROSE HAS ITS THORN - Poison ( Justin Rose)

Oh well, nice sunny morning for once.

    Have a nice day

    Mandy ;)

from the splendid Live at the BBC collection.

Or by any other of a zillion people that have done the song.

Sadly missed the whole show last night due to unforseen circumstances but have coffee ready and will be listening back shortly.

My fuzzy brain can't think of a suitable suggestion on this theme. The only thing I have seen about the Ryder Cup this year is that the American crowd might make it a bit difficult for the Europeans so my choice would be:

I like coffee. It doesn't help that a local supermarket is running a promotion for a free coffee which I have been collecting daily after the school run. Today's is large.

Will be back later, hopefully, with belated mensh congrats for yesterday. Have good days all.

Ps. Thanks PoS for Roahd Dahl recipe book - got it from the local library.

Good Morning Simon, Team and Blogpoppets

My son doesn't like hot drinks at all, and survives mostly on diet cola. An extremely unhealty drink in my opinion - do you know what they put in it? *shudders*

Not really playing - I know nothing whatsoever about golf - but I have tweeted:

WIND OF CHANGE - The Scorpions

    ...Chicago being the 'windy city'

And can I second/third/whatever EAGLE - one of Abba's finest choons IMHO

#104 Deebee on previous blog.... If you love the music from Phantom, do go and see the show because the tunes are even more emotional on stage, when the singers are in character, than on the record, and the same goes for the Les Mis songs.

It's been touring since March and moves on to Milton Keynes when it finishes here (end Oct/Nov) so is that within travelling distance for you?

I was really surprised that Matt included me in his Mosh because I didn't even ask for a Mosh tune and a couple of weeks ago he included my name (in full) on another Mosh tune that I'd never even heard of and my sister-in-law texted me to ask how long had I been a fan of heavy metal? Many months ago I asked for a Ramones' song, so perhaps Matt had dug up old names, last night, from some time ago!
