Shorts! At 7am! Maybe for the last time but hey ho. There is no way they'll be on for the gig in Hyde Park (by which I mean long trousers required, not that I'll be trouserless) as the weather forecast looks fine but cooler. Dry too which is top news. Once the travel rug and thermos are out, it is so annoying to have it get wet and hide beneath it. You can survive a brief set under cover, still jig a bit to James Blunt say, but the Manics or Smokey Robinson from under a soggy quilt just won't do. So we are of good cheer! Onwards to the park! Any bloggers on the way?
Nigel today with, from early photographs posted on twitter, what looks like the mess left after a student party. He's calling it Sweet Tamarind Custard and Salted Peanut Crunch but we'll be the judge of that.
And oldies please on the subject of MANNERS. Debretts are concerned that the proliferation of social networking and texting will lead to a decline in basic communication skills and etiquette. Knowing how to behave in public. So manners it is. if that's ok with you.
Have a jolly and positive Thursday, see you after 5

    Morning all.

What a difference a day makes! Yesterday was positively tropical but this morning we have rain, chilliness and lots of grey. Wellies back on for walking the hound.

Today, I am taking delivery of a new tumble dryer. I haven't had one for years. I finally succumbed after seeing such a bargain and remembering that winter is coming and a huge clothes horse steaming away next to a radiator cannot really be described as shabby chic! How things have changed - all those settings. I even have a 'cuddly toy' option and most intriguingly something called 'heat and enjoy' - how exciting! It's all rock'n'roll round here!

    Happy Friday everyone.

    Jx

Morning all. Nice to get a mensh last night, plenty of OSMs to go round too.

Shame about Andy Murray, but his opponent is having a good run at the moment, and Murray himself said he played a bad match.

Definite change in the weather here - yesterday was glorious, and I spent the earlier art of the evening rowing at Eton Dorney. This morning I could hear the rain outside when I woke up and the view from the top floor at work can only really be described as dreich.

Last day in the office for a week and remarkably I think I've got almost everything done that I need to. Certainly will have done by lunchtime...

    Good Morning All

A bit cooler this morning, and we are promised rain. As long as it gets it over with by Sunday I don't mind at all - the garden needs it anyway.

Shame about Andy Murray. But the result takes nothing away for the fact that he won Wimbledon. He is still a champion.

Hope the littlest Wizardlet had a better day yesterday. And I haven't seen Erica for a few days - I hope the Stresslings are settling into their new school routine.

Hugs to any bloggers who need them. Thinking particularly of Hamlin this morning.

    Shona, big sister?? ;o)

Off to work - see you all over the page. I wonder what the year will be...?

    ~X~

Good Morning Everyone from a chillier part of the country. There is certainly an Autumn twang in the air this morning and I noticed lots of leaves are beginning to turn when I was walking round thr park at 7am.

Laughing at your big pants Zoe.

Canute, Federer makes the grade with me anytime *blushes* (I am just about old enough to be his big sister too!)

I should be in bed... but I'm not!

Well done on all all menshes, 3-worders etc, thanks Simon, for airing my big knickers, so to speak! Well, we are moving into the season of the fuller brief... I can't be doing with the kind that feel as if they're falling down all the time. Each to their own, and all that, but give me the Harvest Festival kind every time (all is safely gathered in!)

TMI? Probably, I blame my crazy hormones! ;-)

Best wishes to you mum, Hamlin, and I especially enjoyed your oldie selection, it's a favourite of mine too.

Hugs to all those who need one.

I often wake up with a song playing in my head, one of these days I hope it,and the oldie year will coincide, so I can suggest it. Last week I was one year out with a 1975 song for a 1974 year! Mind you, I've had Grow Old With Me by Tom Odell stuck in my head today... Be nice if we had an 80s year, that was my era, but I have a very wide taste in music.

    Goodnight one and all.

I forgot to say - while I was away for a few nights either a flock of sheep or a herd of cows visited my garden - poops look more cow like but the trampled grass more like sheep ...

There is a song I want to suggest tomorrow but I don't want to jinx it by even speculating what the year will be ...

Well done on the century Hamlin and I hope tomorrow brings good news.

Harry Knacks here too and as it's just gone midnight time for me to turn into a pumpkin - squash up - room for a little one?

So, Stan the man beat Murray! Their matches have always been a bit of a ding dong, but this time, Murray appears to have been totally outclassed. Quite surprising really as Wawrinka is notoriously inconsistent and poor under pressure, but he is having a good season this year. Mind you, this is his first Grand Slam semi he's now reached.

At this rate he will soon be as highly ranked as Federer, who is really struggling to make the grade nowadays.

Wild Wild Wood is a superb song - Steve Lamacq playing it after a track from the new Franz album - is it me getting old or R2 getting young?

Don't know who Murray played, real shame.
