You've got that certain something. I only know this because the Muppets sang about it on their first album - my love of which got me nothing but derision from Ricky Gervais recently. However I am right and he is wrong. That album was a thing of genius and anyone who disagrees gets Sam the American Eagle set on them. All of this has nothing to do with the show apart from the word bass. Nigel is threatening to do something to do a dead sea bass (that's a sea bass that's dead, not a sea bass from the Dead Sea). Specifically he's performing a baked striker caponata and we'll love it or suffer the consequences.

Also today we will unveil some of the big names who will be staring in the BBC Proms in the Park. Yes it's September already!

And let's try songs for GOING/RETURNING HOME after Andy Murray made an emotional return to Dunblane to receive the freedom of Stirling. 'It feels good to be home' he said and that feeling has inspired many top songs. Feel free to choose some!

Until 5 then...

It appears so TW. I'm glad that you enjoyed S & G. I forgot to report in about the Gerry Rafferty tribute concert last week. There's only one word for it - absolutely amazing (:-0 The songs speak for themselves but the interpretation by all concerned was first class. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Well done, Will. The flake and the haircut. I am amazed that the blog got to 100 given that it was so late. The night hawks helped on that front!

Good morning all. I'm listening to last night's show while I wait for the rain to arrive (no connection). The blog got a bit serious all of a sudden..... But the confession is about to play so I'm not feeling serious at all (as Simon coughs his last.....)

I wonder where Simon will take us today.....?

    Morning people.

Lots of late night chatter, prompting early morning thoughts. Is this a good thing I wonder?
P.C. your post at #88 chimed with me lots in that I do like the mental challenge of tune chasing. I also have great delight when bloggers get mentions (whoops are often heard) and I play the related game of "name that blogger who mentioned it" whilst the song is on. This is often followed either by the aforementioned "whoops" and the odd bit of skippy dancing or a bout of tea cloth flicking.

Like you, I also like the chance to listen to the "soundtrack to my youth". However, I am constantly amazed how much music I appear to have forgotten, missed or possibly "dissed". The show is a coping mechanism for a form of musical alzheimer's that I apparently have! I do like the blog banter - and finding new songs / sounds.

Flo - I like Janis too. I do like the spoken word sessions and often pay them on ithingy. (ithingy is so wonderful. My sister lives in America and ithngy does not work there. I am surprised we have not heard her constant wailing and nashing of teeth from here!) One the sessions with Rachel Sermanni was a particular delight

I was thinking the other day about how the blog deepens rather than widens participation but I would need to have a glass or two of wine to ponder further on that one. Or at least have had breakfast!

Good morning everyone. I had a really poor sleep and now realise it was because of all the yaking on here in the wee small hours;0)

I hope the blog was well oiled last night so it will be working fine this morning.
