These things are sent to try us

And they do, they do. The whole of the BBC's bloggery business went down yesterday and you may well have noticed this. So nothing till late afternoon isn't particularly helpful for anyone but thanks for bearing with us. Hopefully all will be well today, but frankly who knows.

Two shows again as there is no sport to take the movie show off air (that I'm aware of). So two weeks worth of movies to get through and Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington as our guest. He steps up to lead the cast of Pompeii in all its 3D lava-explosion-tsunami-earthquake-toga and chariot glory. You'll never guess what happens.

Then some ARF for your early weekend pleasure and we'll take the year of 1987 to challenge your ARFO suggestions. Plenty to choose from and actually a rather good year. We have Mrs T, raves, PWL everywhere, the first Rugby Union World Cup in New Zealand and your host moving to evenings on Radio 1. What do you fancy then?

Meantime, I have a few questions to put to Jimmy Page. You'll hear that very soon!

Off we jolly well...

    Good morning everyone

Where did the weekend go? It's quite mild and sunny, so far, today. I hope it stays around!

Will was your steam train the Union of South Africa? If so, I saw a picture of it crossing the Forth Rail Bridge. Where did you go after you left Linlithgow?

Oh Canute, it's lovely and sunny here today and today is the first day I haven't worn a coat to work. 3 jumpers on granted but no coat.

Where did the train go to Will? Sounds very Poirot and exciting.

Good morning everyone. Mrs P and I went on a steam train trip from Linlithgow yesterday. It was very good but I was chastised for not booking first class.

Good morning all. I hope you are all as well as can be expected, or better! Back to normal here, and it's snowing at the moment.... Brrrrr.

Off out to help a friend fit his new dishwasher. See you all on the other side.

    Morning peeps

Erica - I hope that you are feeling better. It wasn't until Ty said that I remembered that I had a bout of what was probably Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). I was in a very stressful job and my bro in law said much the same to me as Molly S's doctor said to her - take it easy, avoid stress (!) don't do anything and get get over tired. Not easy advice to take unless a) you live in a nunnery b) you have have a private income and thus no need to work or c) have servants to do everything for you (see b)

Canute - your warm bread and log fire would certainly be good to come back to. I hope your "black dog", as Churchill referred to such instances, has been banished.

Amelia - I can fully related to that feeling of being bereft and being somehow dislocated when you have finished a good book. It can take a few days to shift sometimes.

Shona - take it steady today. Backs are to be treated with respect.

Jennie - I was sad to hear about Mr W's friend. It certainly knocks you back a little getting news like that.

Yesterday we were visiting rellies. Has a lovely day first visiting my sister in law who is house sitting in Haddington and then into Edinburgh to see great nephew and niece. Great nephew was full of beans having just had fruit juice. He was using the sofa as a trampoline and diving board - in strict rotation, bless him. I was introducing him to sea shanties and now he wants to know all about kneel hauling! In short, being a typical 5 year boy.
