(drinks cabinet time)
(just looking honest)
(hardly ever go there)
(more of a cupboard anyway)
Brighter, drier, cooler. Tree still perky, even a few presents appear to have appeared. And Rick's masterclass in piano skills still running through my head. What a virtuoso! The Christmas medley was great, the Life On Mars was spine tingling. The listener who said he had wanted to give Rick a standing ovation had it about right. If you missed it, check iplayer and be amazed. If you heard it, listen again anyway!
Today another tunesmith returns. Nick Lowe has a Christmas album out called Quality Street. He writes consistently fantastic stuff and he doesn't disappoint here. No sleigh-bells but new songs and old classics too. Ron Sexsmith wrote Hooves On The Roof especially for Nick, Ry Cooder has co-written A Dollar Short For Christmas and Nick covers Wizzard's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday. You get the picture. Nick at 6.
And OFFICE PARTY oldies please. See you at the photocopier.
Have a bargain-filled and smile-strewn Tuesday, see you at 5

    Hello folks

I feel a bit like Santas Little Erica as I haven't had a chance to catch up on all the blog stuff of late as too much stuff going on. Much of it not very Christmassy either!

Hamlin - I hope that today is not too harrowing and that the good memories sustain you as the day unfurls. Go gently and in peace.

Part time Erica here, still to meet myself coming back but suspect it's not far away. I could show them Hadron Collider folk a few things....

Just looking at the post above. My Grandma was called Fanny Smith!

Sorry, distracted. No idea, as usual, what's going on. Haven't even had chance to listen for a few days so really am out of the loop. Got about a week's worth of blog to catch up on, I think?

Anyway, the reason I'm really here is for Hamlin, who I'm sure won't see this but I'm going to say it anyway.

Tonight I raised a glass for you and your family. Tomorrow I shall light a candle and my thoughts and prayers will be with you all. Have happy memories. Take good care of your dad. Much love to you, my friend. I know you'll be strong.

You know where I am. XXX

Briefly before bed - not properly listened back - mention grin inducing as ever, ta - well done everyone & especially delighted to hear Arthur's splendid name.

Thoughts with you & your family for tomorrow Hamlin x

Good to see you Canute - you don't seem to have been about very much?

*waves at everyone else* still reading everything ...

Hobbit 2 wonderfully entertaining - bad planning meant 2D normal frame rate showing sold out so forced into 3D 48 frames - quite awful but that and the computer game / fair ground ride bits aside it was lovely to be back in that world again - I said the same for Hobbit 1 so not copying Simon ;-)

Mama Told Me Not To Come - Three Dog Night - Arthur
    Embarrassment - Madness - Deebee & Mandy
Will You Love Me Tomorrow - The Shirelles - me
Blame It On The Boogie - Jackson 5 - Jilly

I really should be in bed. I'm running out of matchsticks, but there are things to do. Robbie Williams currently being sucked up to at the Swiss Sports Personality of the Year Awards and presented with a Swiss footbal shirt. Shame he didn't really sing! (And Fanny Smith only came 4th)

Chris Tingle - it must be the Reading connection - my old stamping ground when I was a mere slip of a girl - mostly around Caversham and the town centre when I was a bit older.

Hamlin - every best wish to you for tomorrow - I am sure there will be tears and I am sure there will be smiles - remember the good times and give thanks. I will be thinking of you. x

    Good night. dear Bloggies

    Sweet dreams

    *waves madly at snow wonder*

Hello lovely - Hope Jocko is well and ready to fly to may aid when the Dowager Countess arrives on Saturday. My cleaning lady did what she calls a "deep clean" in preparation. She shook her head at the state of my cupboards. Heaven help us when her ladyship gets here.

I've just finished a batch of brownies (Nigella recipe - no additives...) for tomorrow. And I've added bows and ribbons to two jars of Homemade chutney for the special teachers because the DD says it's more personal than a book token. I think if I were a teacher I'd want something stronger.

Sleep well all - see you tomorrow - but not for tune-choosing - b*ms.

Hamlin, every good wish for tomorrow my friend. My thoughts will be with you. And can I say to you Hamlin, it's never easy losing your Mum but be thankful you had her for as long as you did. My best to you! X
