A slushy, wintery one around the estate but at least I can't see the mud for a day or two. Hoping the snow won't interfere with our Please Please Me special today. Come on musicians! You can make it to Abbey Road! No excuses! 50 years to the day since The Beatles recorded the album in one session, we are recreating the whole thing across the day. Different stars will sing and strum the tracks and we have 2 songs on drivetime for you. The Fabs had a slow start apparently-just the one song done in the morning- and then accelerated into the afternoon and evening; hence the spread of tracks through the day. This is EXACTLY what R2 does best I think and it should be a great listen. I should declare an interest (aside from being part of the team) and that the whole thing is the idea of my brother Jonathan who will be producing the whole thing. He's the one glancing at the weather forecast with furrowed brow. I'll go to Abbey Road this afternoon to watch some rehearsals and buy my brother a sustaining beverage. So oldies about PLEASURE please.

Loved all the 'favourite albums' posted for Fridays programme-top choices by the way. Bloggers with taste.

Meantime its a Radio 2 Bookclub choice again and we are going with The Universe Versus Alex Woods, by debut novelist, Gavin Extence. It is a tricky one to pigeon-hole but its funny, memorable and uplifting; read some here for free! Hope you like it...

Have a memorable and tune-filled Monday, see you after 5.

Talking of Twitter, just saw Katy's retweet from the Fishermen's Friends announcing that Trevor has passed away. Tragic. Really really sad.

Funny how it goes very quiet on here these days as soon as somebody posts the theme from Twitter...... Wonder what everybody's up to.

    Morning all.

Dry but very grey here today and all the snow has disappeared overnight.

Have a nice break Mildred and enjoy your lunch Jennie - it's good to have a little treat now and then and you've been doing so well with losing the pounds.

So, as JBG asked, pancakes or Popes? Or will his Lordship surprise us with something completely out of left field?

See you over the page lovelies.
    Jx

JBG... I had to laugh at your dislike of coats and handbags! :o))

I think Jeffrey of Maidenhead will be making pancakes today, if he's the same Jeffrey of Maidenhead whose name was mentioned on Chris Evans' breaking news a bit earlier!

I'm of the coat hater brigade. I tend to wear an anorak (dark green for bird watching camouflage!) with or without a zipped in liner as the weather dictates. I rarely use a handbag - I stuff everything into pockets. In the summer, with no anorak, the pockets of my jeans get over-used. I have a decent coat which is about 20 years old and must have been in and out of fashion several times now, and also have a 'dressy' anorak/jacket from M&S which has only small pockets so doesn't get much of a look in (it's not weather proof either, although it's warm).

Enjoy pancakes, those who are having them.
Hope the weigh-in results in good news, Jennie and that you enjoy the subsequent lunch.
Lovely hat, Florence. It will look stunning as you take the dogs for a walk. Make sure you hang onto in the event of any gusts.
Back later in the week after a mini-break in Ludlow. Have a good week, one and all.

    Morning all

Well done menshees last night, Katy, Jilly & Billie, Mandy, Flo and Smee!

And what's all this about "not having to be clever to be on the blog"? And no apology!

I don't like coats. Or handbags.

I have a Pancake Day confession, which I might try and find 15 mins to email in this morning, but it may be too late already....

We just had a quarterly gas/elec bill which is almost 4 figures. Ouch. Time to add 3 more layers of fleece.

See you soon over there on a shiny new page.

    Theme toons? Pancakes? Or Popes?

    Good morning everyone

Deebee, I'm like you with a love of coats and jackets but I'm not a fan of handbags, especially thos hideous big bags favoured by Victoria Beckham, but I like a nice shoulder-bag to keep my camera, phone and sweets in! She doesn't seem to like coats though and I wonder what she puts in her bags on a night out!
