Feeling old this morning. Feel old most mornings. But child 1 turns 21 today and memories, photos and presents are much in evidence along with articles and newspaper cuttings revealing the advancing years. It's one of those 'Sunrise,Sunset' moments (younger bloggers need to refer to 'Fiddler on the Roof' here) that seem to occur with amazing frequency now. I remember playing Baby Baby by Amy Grant on the show the next morning and trying and failing to say something meaningful. And looking back there were probably a few better songs to play than Baby Baby but at the time...what did I know etc.
Hey we have Keane on the show today. New album is Strangeland, their 5th consecutive No 1, a record only bettered by The Beatles (from debut recording this is). I do enjoy their melodies and Tom Chaplin's singing so look forward to Keane after 6.
And oldies please for the TOUR DE FRANCE which Matt reports on every night and in which Bradley Wiggins and Team Sky seem now to be the favourites. It must be one of the biggest prizes in sport and it's time to salute the yellow jersey. Tour de France tunes please.
Have a fragrant and well-powdered Tuesday, see you after 5

Well done to Parsley Cat for Kraftwerk 2 in a week!

I see Christpher Moyles has said he is leaving Radio1. That was hinted at on Radio4's feedback programme three weeks ago! I wonder where he will go?????

#161 Deebee, I hope/know you will enjoy Queen tonight as they're still brilliant, even without Freddie Mercury and I would imagine Adam Lambert will fit in well.

We're Queen fans too and saw them with Paul Rodgers in 2006 and 2008 at the SECC in Glasgow and as well as Queen songs, they sang Free and Bad Company songs and Brian May and Roger Taylor sang solos and duet together too. I like Roger singing These Are The Days Of Our Lives, on his own as well as their big hits.

It's amazing how many youngsters like Queen and ask for them to be played on Simon's show. Like your son, Queen were also my son's favourite group from when he was about six and heard 'Fat Bottom Girls' on a CD that was playing and he soon liked lots more of their songs and has seen and enjoyed We Will Rock You.

I think a lot of bloggers probably 'like' Queen, but feel their songs are played too often on Fridays when there are so many other songs that are never heard!

Enjoy tonight, I know you will!

    Oops - forgot:

I hope that the Mayo family had an enjoyable evening celebrating Child 1's 21st.

Also, if anyone has time, could you pls let me know which TdF oldies were played? I missed the show, unfortunately.

    Morning!

#3 - Jilly - thanks for your thoughts - yesterday was much much better than I had thought it was going to be. No red face and only marginally tongue-tied. Hope your Wednesday is much less frustrating than your Tuesday.

#87 - Katy (are you flaming today?) - regarding my #20, no sucking up for a mensh - just excitement that after all these months, I finally knew what 'NYM' stood for.

JennieW - hugs for today x

    Good Morning All

#160 When I was walking the dogpoppet this morning, one of the songs that came on my mp3 player was the Walker Brothers 'The sun ain't gonna shine anymore'. Hope it wasn't prophetic...

#150 #158 #159 No Gazza, it's not Level 42 - Portsmouth is a bit far for me to go for the evening... And £113?! Blimey! I'm going to see them in Cambridge in October, and I didn't pay anything like that for my tickets.

No, it's Queen we're seeing this evening, at the Hammersmith Apollo. I know, I know - they're not too popular with certain bloggers, and there are groans every time they get played on ARF... But our son is a massive fan - he would have them as his specialist subject on Mastermind. And actually, I like their music too. So I make no apology - it would be boring if we all liked the same stuff. I intend to enjoy myself tonight...

No choon choosing for me today - off to a meeting first thing. I'll hopefully be around later for some chat though.

    ~X~
